ANB 85, The Anointing’s Return (6-22-06)

We have been looking at what God's perfect plan for our life is during these past few
weeks. We haven't talked so specifically about individual directions, but about the level
of authority, power, grace, holiness and blessedness that God ordained for us all to walk
in. This week we are going to continue this discussion, but we are going to look at God's
supernatural empowerment to walk out all of what we have been talking about.

How could one define the anointing. When a person is anointed they are chosen by God
for a specific purpose and supernaturally empowered by God. They are touched with
God's Spirit to do what God called them to do. For example, when God chose the kings
of Israel, He would have the prophets go anoint them with oil. This was a symbolic,
physical representation of God's choosing and empowering of them.

We all should greatly desire the anointing. There is an anointing out there for every
Christian. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which
God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10). God has
lined up specific works for each of us to do in this life. You can't do any of them without
the Spirit of God being with you. God doesn't work like that. God wants to be involved
every step of the way. God wants to add His super to your natural.

Or said better, anything God ever tells you to do will be more than you can do by
yourself. God is not looking so much for you to prove yourself without Him as He is
looking for a relationship between you and Him whereby you can work together to
accomplish His will on this earth. Glory to God. Working with God is what it's all
about. And the work God wants you to do with Him was established before the
foundation of the earth. God wants to do these things with you, He doesn't just want to
watch you do things with out Him.

So each one of us has assignments on this earth, and every assignment, to be completed
correctly, will require God's presence working alongside. So God will come to work with
us. We will be chosen and supernaturally empowered to accomplish our specific works.
We will be anointed by God. Hallelujah.

"Christ" means "Anointed." Christians are those who follow the Anointed one. Those
who are in Christ are also anointed. The oil is poured on the head and covers the whole
body. Most of you know that the Christian church is the Body of Christ
(Ephesians 1:23). If we are in Christ Jesus, we are anointed as well. Glory to God. But
while this anointing, this special touch of God is available to us, most of us don't walk in
our individual anointings.

It's in this anointing that all of God is available to us. It's in this place of worship and
service that all of our needs are met, every bondage is broken, we know all things, we
can endure all things.
In the Old Testament, two symbols for God's anointing are oil and wine. Both of these
are made when something is pressed, the olive or the grapes. When we get pressed is
when we truly begin to see the anointing. It's when we need God the most that we truly
see Him get involved and pour out into every situation.

So let me share some verses with you. The prophecy of Joel is one of the most
significant books concerning the anointing. The palmerworm, the locust, the
cankerworm and the caterpillar symbolically represent that which takes the
anointing away in this book. "That which the palmerworm has left has the locust eaten;
and that which the locust has left has the cankerworm eaten; and that which the
cankerworm has left has the caterpillar eaten. . . the field is wasted, the land mourneth;
for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languishes." (Joel 1:10). So we
see here the anointing is gone. The wickedness of the people has led to the disappearance
of the anointing.

But glory to God. We read the prophecy continue, we see God forgiving and rereleasing
His touch upon us. "Yea, the Lord will answer and say unto His people, behold I will
send you the corn, and wine, and oil, and you shall be satisfied therewith: and I will not
more make you a reproach among the heathen. . . and I will restore to you the years that
the locust has eaten the cankerworm, and the catepillar, and the palmerworm." (Joel
2:19,25).

Glory to God. The Lord is going to restore the anointing to His people. When He does
this we will be repositioned in our rightful place on this earth. Of course, this has already
happened. It began with Jesus Christ. But we each must have it happen in our own
lives. Before the foundation of the world I was created anointed. But when Adam fell so
did I. I was without my anointing for some time. Then I got back in Christ. Now the
anointing is available to me again. I just have to walk in it. Glory to God.

Read that last verse again. God will restore to us the years that those creatures ate from
us. The years they took from us are the years that we were without the anointing. We
can't work or do anything good or of God without the anointing. But God is going to
restore those years to us. For too long I lived without the anointing, but now I want it
back. Under the Jewish law if the thief steels he must repay seven-fold. I want my years
back. God is going to give them to me. Praise the Lord.

So seek the Lord. Ask God what His will for your life is. You are anointed to do
anything and everything He tells you to do. We are going to walk in this supernatural
touch and empowerment of God. We are going to walk holy. We are going to walk in
God's power. It's all because of the anointing. Hallelujah. Seek the Lord. Spend time in
prayer, praise and study of His Word. In truth, we can't really find the anointing, when
we are ready God will release it on us. We just have to be in position to receive. We
must be in Christ, ready to serve. Praise the Lord.
