II 30.01.2014 Une projection propose par Misery Connoisseur et Christopher Kulendran Thomas ainsi que le lancement du magazine Novembre #8 Une projection et un lancement de magazine en rsonance aux thmes dvelopps durant la rsidence Synchronise. Accelerate. Disperse. initie Enclave, Londres. En convoquant la production du luxe travers l'art, le design et la mode, la premire phase du projet s'attachait repousser les diverses possibilits politiques issues de la consommation acclre, afin de rorienter les diffrents flux reliant pouvoir, argent et dsir. Les vidos prsentes dans la deuxime partie instrumentalisent l'esthtique publicitaire et commerciale. Elles visent comprendre notre place dans le monde par del le fantasme d'une autonomie individuelle propre au statut de spectateur mancip. Synchronise. Accelerate. Disperse. I & II affirment que l'autonomie de l'art dans sa conception moderniste s'apparenterait un "glitch" historique. En amont de la priorit que Clement Greenberg (au vu de la menace fasciste) accorde l'autonomie artistique et bien avant que l'Art Contemporain ne privilgie l'autonomie d'interprtation conformment l'conomie de march ; il est viable d'envisager une trajectoire alternative du modernisme, o le champ de l'art est compris en tant que vaste manation du quotidien. Du Constructivisme sovitique et du Bauhaus en passant par l'Artists Placement Group et certaines pratiques mergentes actuelles engageant directement des processus commerciaux, la production culturelle peut tre envisage comme tant toujours dj instrumentalise dans l'tablissement de sa ralit.

A screening and magazine launch elaborating on themes developed at the residency Synchronise. Accelerate. Disperse. at Enclave, London. Part I pushed the political possibilities of accelerated consumption, mobilising the production of luxury through art, design and fashion to redirect networked flows of power, capital and desire. In Part II, each artists video instrumentalises commercial and advertising aesthetics in pursuit of understanding our place in the world beyond the fantasy of individual autonomy upon which emancipated spectatorship is based. Synchronise. Accelerate. Disperse. I & II claim that the modernist idea of artistic autonomy was a temporary historical glitch. An alternative trajectory of modernism can be traced (from before Clement Greenbergs prioritising of artistic autonomy against the threat of Fascism and from well before Contemporary Arts prioritising of interpretational autonomy in line with free markets) in which arts horizon is understood as a widespread part of daily life. From Soviet Constructivism and Bauhaus through the Artists Placement Group and some of todays emergent practices directly engaged in commercial processes, cultural production can be understood as always already instrumentalised in making its reality.
