Leads Military Transformation to enhance effectiveness in current and future operations through the innovative development and delivery of training, education, capabilities, doctrine and concepts. Strategic Objectives: Proactively provide future military estimates, perspectives and advice; lead capability requirements and solutions engineering aimed to improve effectiveness and interoperability. Improve ability to conduct current and future operations. Improve co-operation with partners and non-NATO entities. Enhance Alliance resilience with a strategic command that remains relevant in the execution of NATO objectives.

I know that in an age of austerity, we cannot spend more. But neither should we spend less. So the answer is to spend better. This means we must prioritise, we must specialise, and we must seek multinational solutions through cooperation.

Connected Forces Strategic Perspective


Shift from operational engagement to operational preparedness Maintain (or increase) level of interoperability as participation in operations (and pre deployment training) winds down. Shift from COIN operations in Afghanistan to a contingency posture in order to handle the whole spectrum of conflict.
