A resin figure of Werner Voss is also included, although I feel the resemblance is not really there. Nevertheless, it is always good to have a decent in-scale figure with any aircraft model.

A new decal sheet by Aeromaster covers the two F.Is that were combat tested by Voss and Richtofen. As an aside, Richtofen initially didnt like the Fokker triplane, and turned it over to Kurt Wolff, who used it with success until his death in that particular machine.

Although the kit retails for around $70, I have to say that it is a remarkable deal considering that the original Roden kit sold for around $54. If you consider that the Eduard P/E set and resin bits would have cost well over $20, and that the addons address the original kits shortcomings, it is a sweet deal indeed. Specifically, corrections provided in the Encore version include the following: Resin riveted cowling, which was the more common type seen on the Dr.I. One-piece cylinder heads for the engine, which eliminates tedious clean-up of the cooling fins. - Resin upper fuselage deck with the missing oil filler cap, as well as the cap itself. P/E machine gun jackets, an absolute requirement for a 1/32 scale WW I German plane. P/E under fuselage access panel and stitching. Color P/E instruments. (The Roden kit had no instruments or instrument decals.) - Resin horizontal tailplane which eliminates the curious sunken fuselage contour. Aeromaster decals, which should perform better than the stiff and brittle Roden decals.

For those wishing to model a production Dr.I from this kit, the resin horizontal stab is the early type with the curved leading edge, which would need to be straightened out. Also, the original plastic ailerons would need to be used in lieu of the resin ones. Encores Fokker F.I would be the kit of choice if you want to build
