11 Cavalry was foolishly ordered to relieve 25 Cavalry at Phillora late night . It had marched 50 miles on tracks to reach Chawinda the same day. commanding officer LTC Abdul Aziz standing in centre with dark glasses and is second in command Major Muzaffar Malik to his right both lost their legs.

11 Cavalry bore the brunt of Indian tank divisions assault next day on 11 September 1965 , lost 19 killed.The command vehicle came under heavy artillery fire and te commanding officer LTC Abdul Aziz and is second in command Major Muzaffar Malik both lost their legs.

Note that 11 Cavalry ad already fought another bloody battle from 1st September 1965 to 6th September 1965 were it had lost its best tank squadron commander and 15 men.
