God be merciful to me!

Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Mark 10:4

What does God want from YOU?

Today is the Sunday of the Publican and the PhariseeYou know, the day we hear the Gospel reading about the two men who went into the temple to pray.
One of them talked to God, bragging and full of pride. The other one would not even lift up
his eyes to heaven but he said God be merciful to me, a sinner! As Christians, we want to be like the publican, the one who was humble, the one who knew he wasnt perfect, the one who knew he made lots of mistakes.
Not too long ago, a saintly and very humble man lived in Greece. His name was Elder Paisios. Lots of people knew he was a holy man, so they would ask him for advice. They wanted to know how they could become holy, too! Elder Paisios would always tell people how important it was to be humblelike the man in the Gospel today. The only thing Christ is asking us is our humility. The rest is taken care of by His grace. That means that all we have to do is try to be humble. Thats it! If we can be humble, God will take care of everything else. God doesnt demand we get into Princeton. God doesn't ask us to win a gold medal in the Olympics. God asks us to be humble. God will help us with everything else!
The humble monk, Elder Paisios

HUSBAND AND WIFE SAINTS

SAINTS AQUILA AND PRISCILLA
Do you know many Christians there are in the world? More
than 2 billion! That means that out of every three people in the whole world, one is a Christian.
But how did that happen? Two thousand years ago, there were only a few Christians. Well, the first Christians worked hard to tell other people about Jesus Christ, and they told other people, and so on. Saint Paul helped many, many people Here are Saints Aquila and Priscilla become Christians, but even he couldnt do it all! He had friends who helped with their friend, Saint Paul him, too. Two of his most important helpers and friends were Saints Aquila and Priscilla. These two were husband and wife. They taught lots of people about Jesus Christabout His life, and about how we can be more like Him. In one of his letters, Saint Paul says, Greet Priscilla and Aquilla. They risked their lives for me. Saint Paul shows how thankful he was to these two. And now WE are thankful to them too because of their great work for Christ and His Church.
We remember Sts. Aquila and Priscilla on Thursday, February 13th.
