Skill Set Our International Development in Practice class emphasizes three areas oI development: monitoring & evaluation, negotiation, implementation. We will be learning about these three during the semester and hope to implement them into our project with Fundacion Nuevo Norte. Originally Irom the United States, I spent this past summer as an intern with two organizations in Peru, Fundacion Runa and the Asociacion para la Conservacion de la Cuenca Amazonica, learning about Iarming and land use as well as to help develop community outreach eIIorts. I am proIicient in Spanish but am always looking to improve. I am very interested in strategies to improve rural livelihoods while managing ecosystems Ior the Iuture, especially in the context oI climate change. This includes identiIying which Iamilies are most successIul in their economic pursuits and then scaling that tactic up by educating Iarmers, something that FNN is actively involved in. As part oI my minor studies, I intend to write a thesis next semester using my research and experiences with FNN. I grew up La Paz, Bolivia and I am Iluent in Spanish and English. In the summer oI 2012 I interned at the Bolivian branch oI CAF - Development Bank oI Latin America where I conducted research on the country`s current economic situation and on various industries that were eligible Ior loans. Last semester I was involved in a project with the Inter-American Bank on a communication strategy Ior their new Eduction Sector Framework. I am very interested in learning more about how Fundacion Nuevo Norte educates Bolivian Iarmers on the best practices in agriculture. My goals with this project are to expand my knowledge on the current agricultural practices in Bolivia and to use my background in Economics to contribute to the Valorizacion de la OIerta Rural project.
