Cesar E. Chavez Legacy & Educational Foundation ~Weekly Meeting Reminder~ Dear friends, Last Saturday we did the work of creating and dividing committees that will be in charge of helping to organize various aspects of the 18th Cesar Chavez March. This Saturday February 8, 2014 at 11:00 am, our volunteers will divide into committees of their choice to help prepare for the march. Please join us to send a strong message to Washington: these campesinos are citizens that vote, we have training and are going to college in record numbers... We must speak with ONE voice in the name of Cesar Chavez: workers deserve dignity, families must be protected from deportations, and DREAMers deserve the chance to reach their full potential! Why should our children be the only generation in American history to be denied a path to Citizenship?

I urge all our friends in La Causa to join the Cesar E. Chavez Legacy and Educational Foundation (CECLEF) by please taking a moment to write your Congressmember and President Obama asking them to declare March 31st a National Day of Service. (click for link). And then, call 866-296-8958. Tell Republican leaders in the House to stand with Rep. Denham and support the immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship! San Antonio will host a premier of the New Chavez film and we will honor Cesar E. Chavez at the 18th Annual CECLEF March for Justice and Dignity. To that end, we will collect food for the hungry, with the San Antonio Food Bank, urging all Marchers to bring a can or perishable item to donate on Sat. March 29, 2014. This year we will march from the West Side to the Alamo in celebration of the Life and Legacy of an Extraordinary Labor Human and Civil Rights Leader, one who dedicated his life to non-violence and the struggle for justice for the forgotten people. Senator Robert F. Kennedy stated that Cesar E. Chavez was "One of the Heroic Figures of our time." And the call remains... SI SE PUEDE ! Jaime P. Martinez, Founder-Pres. Cesar E. Chavez Legacy and Educational Foundation
