SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version Installation Instructions

The following instructions are for installing SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version.

System Requirements for SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version


The minimum hardware and software requirements for SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version are as follows:
Operating System

Microsoft Windows Me, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP.

Configuration

Pentium or Pentium-class processor. 128MB RAM or more. 200MB hard drive space. A CD-ROM drive. A graphics adapter with 800 x 600 resolution (SVGA) or higher.

Note for Users with the Full Version of SPSS


If you have the full version of SPSS for Windows, do not install the SPSS Student Version on a computer that has the full version of SPSS for Windows installed on its hard drive or is running these versions of SPSS from a computer network. Doing so could interfere with the operations of SPSS. Installing your Student Version in a separate directory could still result in operating problems.

Installing SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version


Note: To install SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version on Windows 2000 or Windows XP, you must be logged on to your computer with administrator privileges.

Installing from a CD-ROM


E To install SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version, insert the CD-ROM into the

CD-ROM drive. The AutoPlay feature presents a menu.


E On the AutoPlay menu, click Install SPSS, and then follow the instructions that appear

on the screen. See Notes for Installation on p. 2 for special instructions.

Invoking the Setup Program Manually


You can also invoke the setup program manually:
E From the Windows Start menu, choose Run. E In the Run dialog box, type D:\setup. (If you are not using the D drive, enter the

appropriate drive location.)


E Then follow the instructions that appear on the screen. Refer to Notes for

Installation on p. 2 for any special instructions.

Notes for Installation


This section contains special instructions for this installation.
Serial number. If SPSS Inc. provided a serial number, enter the one delivered with

your product.

Destination directory (for users with the Student Version already installed). If you already have the Student Version installed, install the new version in a separate directory. Although you can have multiple instances of the Student Version installed, do not run them at the same time.

Uninstalling SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version


To completely uninstall SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version:
E From the Windows Start menu, choose: Settings Control Panel E Double-click Add/Remove Programs. E Select SPSS for Windows Student Version and then click Add/Remove (Windows 98 and Me) or Remove (Windows 2000 and XP). E Click Yes when prompted to remove SPSS for Windows Integrated Student Version.
