The Asus VIvo8ook X202E touchscreen Iaptop Is an
exceIIent vaIue WIndows 8 uItraportabIe notebook. WIth
a street prIce oI around $499, thIs three pound nteI
Core I3 powered computer goes Iar beyond the specs oI
a netbook but yet has a compact 11.6" screen and
sImIIar dImensIons oI one. CIven Its competItIve prIce
poInt, a tradItIonaI 500C8 hard dIsk Is to be expected,
but wouIdn't It be great to upgrade that to a IIghtnIng
Iast SSDZ
8eIore readIng any Iurther, pIease note that II you IoIIow
thIs guIde then you do so entIreIy at your own rIsk. Asus
does not provIde InstructIons Ior openIng the X202E ]
S200E ] Q200E and you couId easIIy damage your Iaptop

One other Important note Is that thIs Iaptop requIres a
7mm 2.5" hard drIve ] SSD rather than the more
common 9.5mm 2.5" hard drIve sIze.
So wIth that
saId, here's what encountered when upgraded the
hard dIsk In my X202E-DH31T to an SSD. 'm prImarIIy
goIng to Iocus on how to get the orIgInaI hard drIve out
and IIt the new SSD, because It seems that many peopIe
have been struggIIng wIth how to open up the X202E.
The drIve cIonIng process ItseII Is sImIIar to how It wouId
be done on any Iaptop usIng one oI the varIous soItware
tooIs Ior doIng the cIonIng. 'm goIng to assume that you
have aIready cIoned the exIstIng hard drIve onto the new
SSD by connectIng the new SSD usIng a US8 2.0 or 3.0
connector or encIosure as shown In the photo.
OpenIng up the Asus X202E ] S200E
] Q200E
Start by turnIng the X202E over and unscrew the nIne
screws on the undersIde. PIace the screws saIeIy asIde.
When unscrew Iaptop covers tend to arrange the
screws to mIrror how they came out so know exactIy
whIch screw goes Into whIch hoIe In case some are
Ionger or dIIIerentIy proportIoned than others.
Now pry open the bottom cover where It meets the rear
hInge. 8e gentIe, It's made oI pIastIc and pIastIc can
easIIy snap.

At one corner you can see the hard drIve wIth screws
hoIdIng It down and a pIastIc removaI tab. I you were
thInkIng aIso oI upgradIng the memory In your X202E,
you may have notIced In the photo that there are no
accessIbIe RAM sIots. Asus soIdered the memory dIrectIy
onto the motherboard. Ready8oost anyoneZ

AIthough there are Iour screw hoIes Ior securIng the
hard drIve housIng, my X202E onIy had three screws
IItted. Unscrew these and set them saIeIy asIde.

Now puII the pIastIc tab on the drIve housIng gentIy
towards oI the sIde oI the Iaptop. The drIve housIng
shouId dIsengage Irom the SATA data and power
connector and can be removed.

Then unscrew the screws on the sIde oI the drIve
housIng to remove the hard dIsk and put your new SSD
or new hard dIsk Into the housIng.
FoIIow the above steps In the opposIte order to screw
everythIng back together. When repIacIng the bottom
cover, start wIth the Iront and then gentIy push It down
at the sIdes untII you hear the InternaI pastIc cIasps cIIck
Into posItIon. FInaIIy push down the sectIon at the rear
next to the hInge.
I your drIve cIonIng soItware dId Its job, and you
correctIy IItted the new SSD, then you shouId now be
abIe to boot up your X202E ] S200E ] Q200E and enjoy a
much Iaster Iaptop!
