Worship Music & Arts Ministry News: On February 23, at 3:30pm the Worship Music & Arts Ministry of Macedonia Baptist Church will sponsor a Black History Concert, which will include an exciting presentation of African American-spirituals, anthems, and hymns that will highlight the rich artistic expressions and spiritual overtures drawn from an Afro-American journey of triumphant struggle. This event is under the direction of Roderick Giles, Music Director and David Nelson, Minister of Music. Your voice and your commitment are needed, as rehearsals will begin soon. The Black History Choir Rehearsal Schedule: All Singers (Gospel & Choral) Tuesday, February 4 - 7pm Tuesday, February 11- 7pm Tuesday, February 18- 7pm Saturday, February 22 - 3pm Choral Singers ONLY Saturday, February 8 - 3pm Saturday, February 15 - 3pm

*3 rehearsal minimum attendance required for Gospel Singers, 5 rehearsal minimum for Choral Singers

S.H.A.R.E. distribution day is Saturday, February 22 at 6:30am in the Multipurpose Room. ************ Generation Now is offering a night out to all parents on Valentines Day. See the attached flyer and register your child(ren) at the Information Center with a payment of $5 per child. For additional information you can contact any staff of Generation Now or Min. Dejon Campbell. ************ All parents, college students, college bound students, and anyone interested in information regarding financial aid for college students, Generation Now will host a financial aid workshop on Saturday, February 22. Additional information is forthcoming, but mark your calendar now to attend this informative session.

Willing Workers are Needed: Members are needed to serve on the Prayer Ministry. Please contact the church office at 703-521-7663 or Deaconess Rosa Dunkley if you have any questions. ************ Each Wednesday evening at 7pm is the Young Adult Bible Study. We look forward to seeing all our young adults in attendance to experience the new format. ************ Members, if you have moved, or if your home, cell or work phone numbers have changed, please fill out a Change of Address form at the Information Center. ************ Attention All Youth!! We are embarking on new projects and continuing projects and need additional members to help. Below is a list of some of the duties that the Media Ministry is responsible to carry out. African American Read-in at Drew Model School 2/21/14 Drew Model School will hold its African-American Read-in on Friday, February 21st from 9:00-10:00am. We would greatly appreciate it if you could serve as a guest reader this year. It would entail reading a book or short story written by an African American author to one class. The session should last no longer than 20-30 minutes. Our librarian can provide an age-appropriate book for you to read or you can bring one of your own. Any time you can lend to this event would be invaluable in demonstrating to students the importance of reading. Your participation will make a world of difference at Drew Model School. ************ Subject: Women of Vision Nomination Deadline Extended to February 11 Dear Friend of Arlington County's Commission on the Status of Women, The Commission is soliciting nominations for the 2014 Women of Vision Awards. The award nomination form is attached. This honor is given to individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to womens issues, and have, over time, developed and communicated their vision for women and engaged community members and other leaders in order to realize this vision. Categories for the 2014 award are: business, non-profit, and government. Nominees must live, work, or volunteer in Arlington County. Nominations are due Tuesday, February 11th. The awards will be presented on March 4, 2014 at the Arlington County's Women of Vision award ceremony. The Virginia Master Naturalist program trains volunteers to provide education, citizen science and outreach to conserve and manage natural resources and public lands. The sprint training runs Feb. 25-June 10, 2014 on Tuesday evenings from 710p.m. at Long Branch Nature Center in Arlington. Applications are due February 7, 2014. Creative Preschoolers' New Family Registration Begins Feb. 10 Arlington County half-day preschools are designed to provide children ages 3-5 with their first social group experience outside the home. Emphasis is placed on experiencing age-appropriate recreation activities, being part of a group, cooperating, listening, sharing, developing play and movement skills, and discovering nature. Choose from two-, three- or five-day-a-week programs from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Preschool runs from September to May. We offer fee reductions for those who qualify. Do you know someone who is dedicated to park services and improving our community? This award is to pay tribute to park volunteers and encourage residents who demonstrate commitment and support for the parks programs, natural resources and public open spaces. Accepting nominations now through Feb. 14, 2014. Read more about the award. Glencarlyn Park Playground: Youth Playground Renovation Construction will begin shortly on the youth playground at Glencarlyn Park! Fun, new features include a treehouse, swings, a teeter-totter, a cattail spinner (re-purposed from Mosaic Park) and a sand play area with lots of boulders. Porous paving will be used to reduce the impervious footprint of the park and there also will be a buffer comprised of native plants that can be found in the Four Mile Run Resource Protected Area. The $485,000 project is funded with a 2010 Neighborhood Conservation bond, and is a Neighborhood Conservation Program project for the Arlington Forest neighborhood.

Bible Study Schedule at 7pm Each 1st Wednesday will be Corporate Prayer and Praise. Everyone is encouraged and invited to attend. Every 2nd Wednesday of the month will be Pastors Bible Study which is open to everyone. Every 3rd Wednesday of the month will be Mens and Womens Bible Study. Each 4th Wednesday will be Young Adult Bible Study. The 5th Wednesday of each month will be Leadership Night. All leaders of MBC will meet with Pastor Hamlin. ************
