Now in its fourth year, Exeter Open Studios is an established event in the Exeter arts
calendar. The event is popular with visitors and is an opportunity to visit the homes
and studios of a wide range of visual artists. This year features a mix of group venues
as well as individual artists.

For three days in November, come and meet the artists living and working in Exeter,

Christine Sawyer: A collection of small textile constructions, and large graphite
drawings, evolved from a common source.
David Sawyer: An investigation into the physical boundaries of 3D forms, exploring
colour in spatial relationships.

Photograms and lucida-grams taken from collections
of beetles, butterflies, shells, fish, birds and birds'
nests as well as seed heads grown and pressed from

With over 30 years experience, Geoffrey is one of the
UK's leading architectural sculptors, specialising in
the creation of sculpture and decorative plasterwork
for interiors. On show is a collection of recent work,
photographs, drawings and work in progress.
Four artists planning to take over an empty shop in the
centre of Exeter.
Raj Patel, Rosie Jones, Katya Romankevich and
Jacqueline Leighton Boyce exhibiting a range of work
including furniture, painting, printmaking and ceramics.

the city. At Exeter Castle there are over 30 artists working in different areas of
Fine arts and crafts, ranging from recent graduates to arts professionals.

An exhibition of multi-media artworks by Louise
Stolworthy, Lucy Rockliffe and Jess Carvill, presented

Jenny’s ceramic sculptures have continued to change
over the past year. These changes include a more
adventurous use of colour in the decoration and the
introduction of new subject matter including period
costume, topiary and dogs with their owners.
Liese’s paintings are an eclectic assemblage of
memory and experience, a form of visual diary that
reveals itself through her involvement with the painted
surface and manipulation of media in these semi-
abstract images.
My work is colourful, abstract and inspired by
landscape. Images evolve as I paint, taking me back to
the places I have visited.

people who have learning disabilities.
After a successful exhibition in 2008 I will again be
displaying a variety of paintings, all different work in
this show, mainly large acrylic paintings on canvas and
smaller works on paper.
You are warmly welcome to the studio home of mosaic
artist Elaine M Goodwin, to view her works, both large
and small, which cover the walls in the shimmering
materials of mosaic – Carrara marble, Byzantine golds
and rich Venetian glass.

There is a variety of media in Triangle Arts. Allie Giles’ pen and ink
drawings sit alongside Wendy Harris’s mixed media and textile pictures.
Helen Bamber’s textiles originate from natural forms. The three artists’
work are displayed separately yet compliment each other.
Faces are endlessly fascinating – each is a unique
combination of an individual’s personality, history and
culture. Young and fresh or worn and weathered, my
challenge is to capture this on canvas using oils.

through Heavitree until you reach the traffic lights at the junction of
Honiton Road and Sidmouth Road. Take the left hand lane for Honiton

Tony Bird, Jonathan Price, Janet Sainsbury and Gillian Taylor – The
Four – produce a range of work, including collages and paintings,
textiles, photography, watercolours and paper art including collections of
tiny envelopes.
Slab-built stoneware pots for flowers or foliage, also
bowls and dishes – unusual shapes and designs, all
waterproof. Also ceramic necklaces and pendants in a
gorgeous range of colours, all beads rolled, holed and
glazed individually.

Directions: From Topsham train station follow Station Road, turn left into
Fore Street. Mathews Hall is on the left next to the Fire Station. There is
a regular bus service from Exeter. Car parks in Holman Way (5 mins walk)
and behind the Fire Station in Fore Street (1 min walk).
Directions: 100 metres up from Post Office in Fore
Street, or 200 metres down from Parkfield Way
and Topsham Station. Car parks in Holman Way or
behind Fire Station in Fore Street. No vehicle access
to Majorfield Road itself. Some street parking in Fore
Street (1 hour) or Parkfield Way (no limit).
