The thesis should be prepared on good quality white paper preferably not lower than 80gsm. Tables and figures should conform to the margin specifications. Large size figure should be photographically or otherwise reduced to the appropriate size before insertion. No border line is to be drawn on the pages of the report. String containing name of the department and college at centre is to be given as footer on each page of the chapter. Page number should be given below this string. For example, Department of EEE, GEC, Thrissur. is to be given as footer on each page of the chapters of reports from Electrical Engineering Department.
4. MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION
The candidate shall supply the typed copy of the manuscript to the guide for the purpose of approval. The typing shall be done using standard software packages available in the market. In the preparation of the manuscript, care should be taken to ensure that all textual matter is typed written in the same format as may be required for the final thesis. The heading of all items 2 to 12 listed in section 2 should be typed in capital letters without punctuation. The text should commence four spaces below this heading. The page numbering for all items 1 to 9 should be done using lower case roman numerals and the pages thereafter should be numbered using Arabic numerals. 4.1 TITLE PAGE A specimen copy of the title page for M.Tech thesis and B.Tech project report are given in the annexure.

4.2 BONAFIDE CERTIFICATE Using double spacing for typing, the bonafide certificate should be as given in the annexure for M.Tech and B.Tech project reports. 4.3 ABSTRACT Abstract should be an essay type of narrative not exceeding 600 words, outlining the problem, the methodology used for tackling it and summary of the findings. Keywords also may be given at the end of the abstact. 4.4 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT It should be brief and should not exceed one page when typed double spacing. 4.5 TABLE OF CONTENTS The table of contents should list all material following it as well as any material which precedes it. The title page, bonafide certificate and acknowledgement will not find a place among the items listed in the table of contents. The page numbers of the items which precedes table of contents should be given in lower case roman letters. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. 4.6 LIST OF TABLES The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear above the tables in the text with figure numbers on left hand side and page number on right hand side. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. 4.7 LIST OF FIGURES The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear below the figures in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. 4.8 LIST OF SYMBOLS, ABBREVIATIONS One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. Standard symbols, abbreviations must be used. 4.9 CHAPTERS The chapters may be divided into three parts i) Introductory chapter

The main text will be divided into several chapters and each chapter may further divided into several divisions and subdivisions. Each chapter should be given appropriate title Tables & figures in a chapter should be placed in the immediate vicinity of the reference where they are cited Footnotes should be used sparingly. They should be typed single space and placed directly underneath in the very same page which refers the material they annotate 4.10 APPENDICES OR ANNEXURES Annexures should be numbered using Arabic numerals Eg. annexure 1, annexure 2 etc Tables & references appearing in annexures should be numbered and referred to at appropriate places just as in the case of chapters 4.11 LIST OF REFERENCES Any related works of other researchers used either directly or indirectly, the origin of the material thus referred to, at appropriate places in the report should be indicated. Examples of citation 1) An improved algorithm has been adopted in literature[1] 2) Venikov showed that it is the Jacobian of the load flow equations that characteristics the classical steady state limits.

The listing should be typed a space below the heading REFERENCES in the order of references cited in the report. List of references should be given in the following order with the format given in the example. 1. Journals. 2. Conference proceedings. 3. Books. 4. Websites with complete URL address Example: [1.] Tsuchiya T Improved direct digital control algorithm for microprocessor implementations IEEE Trans. Automatic control, Sept 1982,Vol AC 27, PP 295 306. 4.12 BIBLIOGRAPHY Books and papers referred generally for preparing the project report but not specifically cited as shown in section 4.11 are to be listed in the heading Bibliography. The format used for listing must be same as for reference. 4.13 TABLES & FIGURES By the word Table, is meant tabulated numerical data in the body of the thesis as well as in the annexures. All other non verbal material used in the body of the thesis and annexures such as charts, graphs, maps, photographs and diagrams may be designated as figures. Each tables and figures are to be titled and numbered accordingly with same font size as the main text. Numbering of figure should include chapter number and serial number of the figure, separated by full stop. If more figures are coming under same figure number, they should be distinguished with lower case English alphabets as shown below. Example: Fig.6.1 (a) Fig.6.1 (b) A table or a figure including caption should be accommodated within the prescribed margin limits and appear on the page following the page where their first reference is made. Tables and figures on half page or less in length may

appear on the same page along with the text. However they should be separated from the text both above and below by triple spacing. All tables and figures should be prepared on the same paper or material used for the preparation of the rest of the report. For preparing caption, numerals, symbols or characters in the case of tables or figures either word processing software or lettering guide should be used. Two or more small tables or figures may be grouped if necessary in a single page. Wherever possible the entire photographs may be reproduced on a full sheet of photographic paper. Photographs if pasted should be done so on thick bond or art paper with proper adhesive so as to avoid wrinkling formed on drying. More than one photograph can be included in a page. 4.14 COMPUTER PRINT OUTS Computer prints and data sheets, which are absolutely essential for the development of the report and conforming to the margin specifications may be included in the annexure of the report. All such sheets should be serially numbered like any other page belonging to the main text. If the number of columns in the computer print out sheets are very large, and therefore could not be possibly accommodated within the specified margin limits, use of bigger size sheets may be permitted provided depth wise is measured from the top edge to bottom edge of the page these sheets have a dimension of 290 mm and the sheets are properly folded in widthwise.

5. SIZE LIMITATIONS

6. BINDING
All reports are to be soft bound. Outer cover should be off-white in color and made of thick (300 gms) glossy art paper.
7. NUMBER OF COPIES
For B. Tech project- Number of members+2, 1 soft copy For B. Tech seminar 3 copies,1 soft copy For M. Tech project 6 copies,1 soft copy For M. Tech seminar 3 copies, 1 soft copy
8. SEMINAR REPORTS
Seminar reports are to be prepared according to the standards specified above, except that: 1. The body of the seminar report is to be divided into sections, not into chapters. 2. Sections are continuously numbered.(1,2,3..etc) and are to be typed continuously.
