A good leader takes the lead. A good leader has personality, courage, clear
vision with ambition to succeed. A good leader encourages the team to perform to their
optimum all the time and drives organisational success.
The most important characteristics of a leader are:

A good leader has the ability of the ethical person to shine through to leadership;

A good leader has the ability to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and
experience to undertake the tasks expected from him/her, both in terms of the job
that is required to be completed, but with respect to his/her contribution the wider
organization;

A good leader adopts a leadership style that lends itself to ethical considerations,
for example transformational and adaptive styles both of which engage followers
in the decision making processes;

A good leader has the motivation to prevent harm to anyone;

A good leader ensures a safe place of work for staff;

A good leader has respect for the law and regulations;

A good leader maintains and develops skills, knowledge and experience in

themselves and others;

A good leader is objective, fair and reasonable;

A good leader takes responsibility for his own as well as others actions;

A good leader acts with conviction;

A good leader provides clear direction;

A good leader communicates effectively;

A good leader discharges of a duty of care to customers, clients and staff.

Leaders do many things, but perhaps their most telling characteristic is a natural
and authentic ability to inspire excellence while maintaining strength and a modicum of
humility. These are the people who will lead you to success--in the battlefield or in the
boardroom. The true reflection of a leader's ability is measured not only in a company's
bottom line, but also in the success and empowerment of each individual.
Great leaders command confidence and trust not by demanding, but by encouraging.
Even in the face of defeat, a great leader will tell you to get up and keep
fighting. And more often than not, failure is part of the equation. That's OK, because
great leaders know when to admit their missteps and have an equal willingness to learn.
There are as many traits of a leader as there ae lists of what makes a leader. Here are the
fundamental traits of a leader from my perspective:

Has integrity. People have to believe that you are pursuing your dream because
it's the right thing to do, not just because you are ego driven.

Is a people person. Understands the differences that make people unique and is
able to use those individual skills to achieve the goal.

Is positive. A leader encourages and rewards people and makes you want to do it
and do it right. A leader is not a negative person and doesn't waste time and effort
telling everyone what they're doing wrong.

A leader is appreciated when he has skills. Skills suggest what leaders can achieve, learn
and develop whereas traits suggest who they are based on their intrinsic characteristics
which they gain by the virtue of birth. The skills approach suggests that the skills,
knowledge, and abilities that are required for a leader to be successful can be acquired
thorough training and development. By leadership skills we refer to the essential skills
needed for successful leadership. Skills are graded sequences of actions directed to a
purpose. At the center of the development of all skills are acts that are absolutely
necessary for the effective practice of that skill. Research over many years has shown that
there are several key activities that are essential to effective interactions between
managers, their staff and their organizations and these activities are generally referred to
as Leadership Skills. The most important skills of a leader are:

Objectivity in taking hard decision;

The possibility of organising and leading a group of person which makes part of
an organization;

Many characteristics as courage, integrity, strong personality;

Tolerance for stress;

Experience in a variety of different types of situations;

Ability of resolving all the hard situations;

Good judgement;

Knowledge;

Cleverness;

Good coordonation;

Ability to communicate with all types of humans with different personalities;

Emotional stability.

If a leader has all this skills he will have success in his career because he has satisfaction
and motivation in learning his subordinates all he knows.
In my career I learnt that all this characteristics are important because a leader needs
judgement to take the best decision in the most hardest situations, cleverness, good
coordination to organize his organization, emotional stability to give to his subordinates
power to become motivate.
