Since 1919, educators, librarians, booksellers, and families have celebrated Childrens Book Week during the week before Thanksgiving. Childrens Book Week 2007 is November 12-18, and the theme for this 88th annual observance is Rise Up Reading! Special materials available for purchase from the Childrens Book Council were created by some of todays hottest childrens book stars. Use these posters, bookmarks, and other items to decorate your walls, promote your events, and, most importantly, encourage kids to read. Be sure to visit the Childrens Book Councils website at www.cbcbooks.org for more information, ideas, and free downloadable materials for Childrens Book Week 2007. Harcourt Childrens Books is a proud member of the Childrens Book Council (CBC), a nonprot trade organization that encourages the use and enjoyment of books and related literacy materials for young people. Our books from the current and immediately preceding year are available for examination at the CBC Library, 12 W. 37th Street, New York, NY 10018. The library is open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
