i. Problem Statement

How to modify Operations and Supply Chain process of Corky Trout Fish Farm to increase the effectiveness and efficiency

Introduction

The fisheries sector contributes around 1% to the GDP of Pakistan more than 100 species of fish exist in fresh waters of Pakistan with 25 having commercial value. Total capture fisheries and aquaculture to get her provide employment for around 1% of the total labor force available in the country. Pakistan has very rich aquatic resources of aquaculture and fisheries. Despite its environment in natural resources, the country rank 28th among fishing nations in terms of productions and 50th in export earnings. Properly developed fish industry can be helpful in increasing and earning sizeable foreign exchange. Skardu is a city with a population of more than 3.5 million people. Labor force is available at relatively cheap rates hence offers a competitive edge. In this part of the city people likes Trout Fish as well as VIPs and visitors like Trout Fish on their supplement foods. Secondly, Trout Fish is also bought for medicine purposes and consider a healthy food. Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan is extremely suited for Trout farming because Nature has bestowed this place with large cold water resource with different variety of natural ponds, streams, rivers, lakes and dams as well as habitats that are best suited for Trout Fish farming.

Purpose of the project

The main purpose of this project is to determine how to modify the Operational activities and Supply chain processes of Corky Trout Fish Farm to increase the market share (in term of profit, wealth of shareholders etc). iv. Project Objectives To determine traditional processes and also eliminate those processes To determine the effects on supply chain process efficiency of above modifications. To determine whether the market share could be increased by controlling the traditional processes of Corky Trout Farm being sold Trout Fish in the market.

Research Method: For this project following methods will be used Exploratory Research

Exploratory Research Literature review: A literature review will be conducted by collecting related secondary data about the operations and supply chain processes of the organization .This information will be acquired from the internet and fisheries department. Interview: Interviews will be conducted with the higher management of the organization and an owner of different fish farms to have a clear idea as how the operations and supply chain system is working.
