Dr. Jeyapalan Kasipillai is a Professor and former Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy, Universiti Utara
Malaysia. He joined the Inland Revenue Board and previously held the post of Assistant Director (Tax
Investigations) prior to joining UUM in 1991. Dr. Kasipillai isafellow member of both theUK Chartered Institute
of Secretaries and the Malaysian Institute of Taxation. He is currently the Chief Editor of the Malaysian
Management Journal, a publication of UUM and a member of the Editorial Committee of e-Journal of Tax
Research, Australia (publication of the Australian Taxation Studies Program, Sydney). In May 2003, Kasipillai was
appointed by Tax Notes International, USA to be its official correspondent for Malaysia. In 2004, Dr. Kasipillai
was appointed to be the Chairmanof UUM CorporateStrategic RestructuringPlanningUnit. He isalso theauthor
of A Comprehensive Guideto Malaysian Taxation: Under Assessment.
Dr. Veerinderjeet Singh graduated from the University of Malaya with a first class honours degree in
accountancy and obtained his Doctorate fromUniversiti Putra Malaysia. He is a member of the Malaysian
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the Malaysian
Institute of Taxation (MIT) as well as CPA Australia. He is currently a Council Member of the MIA, MICPA and
MIT. He has served as Vice President of MIT for a two year term. He is also a member of the Executive
Committee of the International Fiscal Committee (IFA) Malaysia Branch. He is currently an Adviser/Consultant
to a few organisations as well as an Adviser to Ernst & Young Tax Consultants Sdn Bhd. He is the author of
Malaysian Taxation: Administrative and Technical Aspects, Tax Compliance & Ethical Decision-Making: A
MalaysianPerspective and Tax Thoughts on Today'sTaxing Times.
Mr. Dale Boccabella graduated with a degree in Business (Accounting) and later obtained his First Class Honors
in Master of Laws in Sydney. He joined the School of Business Law and Taxation in early 2001 from the
University of Western Sydney, where he had spent seven years teaching and researching in various areas of
Australia's tax regime. Prior to that, he worked for ashort timeas a tax consultant in the corporatesector. Hehas
published over 70 articles, commentaries, conference papers, etc which cover a wide range of areas of
Australia's tax regime such as fundamental income tax principles, aggressive tax planning/tax avoidance, fringe
benefits tax, capital gains tax, goods and services tax and tax administration. A number of his publications have
been cited by, and quoted fromby, other tax commentators, including the Australian High Court in an income
tax test case. He has also regularly been invited to act as a referee on a range of articles submitted to both tax
and legal education journalsfor publication.
Ms Geetha is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA in Investment and Finance. She is a Practicing
Accountant with more than 14 years of experience in Audit, Tax Planningand BusinessConsultation. She is the
founder partner of GeethaA &Associates, a Certified Public Accountingfirm. She isalso an AssociateMember
of Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. She has extensive experience in conducting seminars and lectures on Tax
Related Topics. She conducts tax training for fellow professional as part of the Institute of Certified Public
Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS) Continuational Professional Education Programme (CPE) for the past 7 years.
Shehasbeen guest speaker ontax for several local and overseasorganizations.
Mr. Sitartha RajaKumaran graduated fromUniversiti Sains Malaysia with a degree in Social Science (Economics)
and obtained hisLL.B fromtheUniversity of London. He is currently the Director of Investment &Tax Practice at
KMPG Malaysia and Chairman of the Trade Facilitation Sub-Committee of the Malaysian International Chamber
of Commerce and Industries (MICCI). He served 21 years with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and is
currently a key member of an elite Sale and Service Tax (SST) development teamestablished within the Ministry
of Finance / Customs Department to handle all aspects of the introduction of Malaysian Value Added Tax (VAT).
He is also the Technical Director of GST Special Project Teamset up to provide technical and strategic advisory
servicesfor theproposedGST implementation.
Mr. Subromaniam a/l Tholasy holds a degree in Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and later
obtained his MBA from The University of New Hampshire in The United States. He has been with the Royal
Malaysian Customs for over 21 years and has served various divisions such as Service Tax, Sales Tax, Account
Inspection, Import, Valuation, Post Clearance Audit, Classification and Enforcement. He is currently the Senior
Assistant Director for the GST Development Unit. He has presented variouspapers on customs and taxation in
the international level such as Customs Valuation Seminar for Nepal Customs, Customs commercial fraud in
Malaysia World CustomsOrganisation, and in numerousseminarson GST to organizationssuch asMIT, etc.
