THE YOD OF 2012-2013

A 'Yod' is formed when a minimum of three planets form a long, thin triangle across the horoscope. Two planets are linked by a sextile aspect (60) and each of those two is linked to a third by a quincunx (150). The point opposite this one is sometimes called the 'release point'. The distinguishing characteristic of a quincunx is that prototypically it connects signs and elements which are 'incompatible', or certainly very different. It is often by working imaginally with these differences that a hidden symmetry or similarity will emerge. Quincunxes 'require' inner work. Keywords include: adjustment, discomfort, incompatibility, tension, psychological blindness, inner struggle, spontaneous resolutions, moral and spiritual effort, strength under duress, endeavour to bring consciousness to a life-issue. Below are listed the main dates and times when the aspects which comprise the Yod are exact. Small orbs (maximum 2) need to be used when considering a Yod as the next aspect along is tri-septile (15417'), which is part of the 7th harmonic series, having an entirely different energy. As the Yod blurred into approximation (January to mid-March 2013), there were numerous occasions when this aspect was engaged. The septile series of aspects relates to inspiration, fantasy and discovery also wishful thinking and illusion. On a deeper level, it relates to the longings of the soul, and what brings a feeling of alignment to our deeper wishes and dreams. The main aspects in this configuration involve Saturn and Pluto, in sextile and mutual reception, and both quincunx Jupiter in Gemini. These are marked in red type. The 'release point' falls at about 10 Sagittarius. Although these three are only in exact aspect a few times, the Yod figure repeats and briefly re-configures when either the Moon or faster-moving planets become involved. In the list below, you will find the aspects made by the Moon's movement through the three relevant signs of Gemini, Scorpio and Capricorn. If you are familiar with reading an ephemeris, you will be able to find additional trigger dates. Dates when the Yod between Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter is exact: 10.12.2012 1.1.2013 15.3.2013 1.4.2013 Note that the first Yod series has Jupiter Rx (Retrograde) and Saturn D (Direct), while the second has the opposite: Jupiter D and Saturn Rx Pluto is in Direct Motion in both, but turns Rx on April 12th, signalling completion of the Yod CONTEMPLATE THE DIFFERENCE BASED ON WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT THESE PLANETS Note that because Jupiter was stationary on January 30th, it was moving more slowly than usual during this period, keeping the Yod within exact formation for longer. In April (around mid-day 14.4.2013 GMT), when the Moon goes through Gemini, we will see a brief echo of the main Yod, but after that, the sextile between Saturn and Pluto will quickly widen, making further Yods not possible. Wherever this Yod points in your own chart, the current mutual reception between Saturn and Pluto sets your own natal Saturn and Pluto positions resonating, as well as activating the houses with Scorpio and Capricorn on the cusp similarly with Jupiter and Sagittarius. So when considering the transiting figure, at about 9-12 of their respective signs (as you can see below), also check your natal positions of Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter, as well the houses they rule.
