OCM MILLS ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

As OCM is a manufacturing unit involves many operations starting from the proper execution of all these operations there should be systematic layout of department i.e. raw material, designing, dyeing, spinning, and weaving up to finishing. In OCM this aspect has been provided and all operational tools departments are situated hand in hand so as to facilitate work in process. However, due to expansion cum modernization program some department coordination is developed. Organization should ensure right person at right place and right place for right person and OCM is following this principle right from its birth. The top most position in the organization is of chairman. At the top level there are having the central and management. Then all the departments are having senior managers and asst. managers at the middle level specialized in their field. OCM mill has a separate export dept. situated at Delhi to manage the export, personal, finance, sales dept. are lying outside the work place. Production dept. has its own different sub departments under it.

SAFARIS DESIGNERS FABRIC CIRCLE


Exclusive Light Weight fabric thats made by blending super 70s wool and linen with extra fine polyester. The range can be pitched for a perfect summer safari. Comes in light pastel shades ideally suited for summer.

KURTA CLOTH Woolen fabric are used for making Kurtas in winters. A light weight fabric makes a style statement while keeping the comfort of Indian traditional wear. Natural shades in pastels make it a unisex fabric. It gives an exquisite look not only in mens Kurtas, but in ladies suits too.

UNIFORMS
BERTHEA

PROCESS DETAIL DESIGNING


OCM is famous for its vast range of designs of the worsted suitings and blankets. The purpose of this department is to formulate the procedure for basic design development to avoid any delays and resultant loss of quality. OCM sales team conduct regular surveys of the market for knowing the trends, taste and preferences of the consumers and new styles and design for upgrading the fabric are developed by the designers process to consumer preferences. In OCM they combine design and technology to translate and hand fibers to fabric with fitness of fashion. PRODUCTION PLANNINH AND CONTROL


This department controls the whole production process by planning the production, setting up of production targets and monitoring the progress of the plan and targets in different departments. The procedure followed by this department is as follow: Estimation of Raw material Design wise Manufacturing Plan Yarn Spinning Orders Monitoring Yarn Stocks/Indent Monitoring Fabric Production Fortnightly computer print out for sale plan

Designing is the heart of any firm. It is a place where every order other departments gets instruction starting from spinning to finishing. Head of department is responsible to ensure implementation and strict ad hence to the procedures by all concerned. In OCM designing department has one head but proper working and convenience, department is further divided into two parts and both of these have their head called Assistant Manager. DYEING
A Dye is a chemical compound used to produce long lasting colors in materials. There are three processes of dyeing fibers: a) Top Dyeing: If the before fibers are dyeing before spinning the process is called top dyeing. b) Yarn Dyeing: If the fibers are dyed after being spun into yarn, the process is called yarn dyeing.

c) Piece Dyeing When the fabric itself is dyed, the process is called piece dyeing. Different kinds of dyes used in OCM are Acid Dyes, Basic Dyes, Direct, Disperse, Pre metalized, Reactive, Sulphur etc.

SPINNING
Spinning converts raw material in the form of the top of frail yarn thus reducing the weight of the top. Spinning is the process of making threads by twisting together the fibers. In this process fiber is made even and stronger. Spinning section of OCM is highly modernized with having installed 29 hi-tech machines imported from France and Germany. Spinning includes following processes.

POST SPINNING
After spinning the thread, quality of approved, orders are taken and the processing is done according to the date of the order. Two ply yarns are also made in this department. In this department, two singles are joined together and laid parallel twisted process (TFO-Two fold one twist). The yarn is then steamed into an autoclave for hour to change the density of yarn or to change the weight of the package. Post spinning includes following processes: Single Yarn Two ply Yarn Assembly Wending Twisting (TFO) Steaming Conditioning Double Yarn Store Checking Dispatch to Weaving

WEAVING
After the yarn is made, weaving is carried out. Weaving is the process of making clothes by crossing two sets of threads over and under each other. In this process millions of meters of fine worsted fabrics is produced by computerized high speed Downier (Germany), Sulzer (Switzerland) and Picanol looms. There are three basic types of weaver./ i. ii. iii. Plain weave on tabby weave Twill weave Satin weave

All the weaves consists of two sets of threads, one set being called warp is stretched length wise on a loom or frame. The weaving process consists of: Warping Drafting Weaving Sample Checking Quality Checking

INSPECTION
After the process of finishing the fabric is sent to the inspection department. Here the fabric is inspected thoroughly to check out the defects. Inspector ties to types of threads i.e. yellow and white in color on the selvedge of the fabric indication the defect in the fabric. Fabric is then cut at those points. On the fabric that has been cut into pieces, a stamp of OCM mill is pasted at every 2 meters of length. Fabric is then packed and sent to warehouse for dispatch.

WAREHOUSE
Materials manufactured are kept in warehouse before dispatch. The vouchers received are checked for any mistake related to:

Design Gradation Meters etc. by price tickets Sales department issue order to warehouse department for dispatch of materials as per the dispatch schedule and accordingly, slip of sales challan and Performa Invoice are printed in three copies each.

QUALITY CONTRIL LAB


In quality control lab, quality is measured. Sub-standard products are separated from the normal quality product. The basic function of quality control lab is: Product evaluation System and Process monitoring Market feedback/complaints Improvement programs

LIMITATIONS
OCM INDIA LIMITED is the only manufacturing plant of INDIA which is in Amritsar only branch personnel offices are located in different cities like Delhi, Chennai etc. Lack of Technological Development that affect the productivity and other activities in whole value chain. Infrastructural Bottlenecks and Efficiency such as, Transaction Time at Ports and transportation Time. Unfavorable labor Laws. Lack of Trade Membership, which restrict to tap other potential market. Product development and Diversification to cater global needs. Market is gradually shifting towards Branded Readymade Garment Most of the product ranges are up to the budget limits of common man that they unable to think about to purchase. The company does not recruit women's in their plant as there is provision enacted by them but they still not in favor to them.

CONCULSION
The project helped me to realize the importance of human Resource. The functionality of any business does not solely depend on marketing or finance or FIRM; everything should be in a balanced framework. This has led me to give importance to everything in life as everything has its own importance. Efficient employee makes a successful organization, but then it is the responsibility of the company to groom such employees and workers within its hierarchy. The company takes a keen interest in the welfare of the employees and a numbers of benefits and welfare measures are available for the employees like providing of economized canteen facility, proper rest rooms for the workers, proper arrangement of pay package, providing of gratuity and provident fund facility and providing of gifts which are equivalent to person's one month salary on the occasion of his marriage or any of his family members and many other benefits are available for employees do that they all contribute their best and work as family. The company has a very systematic recruitment and selection process so that it can get the right person at the right job and that its resources and benefits are not put into or invested into wrong person. Company has proper notice boards in all its processing departments, where in the various articles written by the workers are put along with whose performance has been the best, hence it is a way of boosting the morale of the workers for motivating them to contribute their best the whole production process is run on scientific lines keeping in view the various time and motion studies.
