Overview
Feature Introduction
The enhanced multi-timeslot class support function means iBSC can provide PS service for the MS with 30-33 multi-timeslot capabilities on the basis of already supporting 1-12 multi-timeslot classes. This function requires the MS to support HMC (High Multi-timeslot Capability).
This function allows a maximum of five downlink timeslots to be used by one MS. As a result, the bandwidth is increased to five timeslots from the original maximum of four timeslots, thus increasing the throughput by 25%. Classes 30-33 allow the total number of uplink and downlink timeslots to be six. That is to say, if five timeslots are used in downlink, only one timeslot can be used in uplink.

Technical Description
Multi-timeslot Capability Classes of MS
When MS supports this multi-timeslot function, there are a few multi-timeslot classes as follows:
Table 3-1
Multi-timeslot Class

1 2 2 3 2 3

In this table: Rx: Rx indicates the maximum number of received timeslots (one TDMA frame) available to MS. According to the service class that MS supports, MS must support an integral number of all received slots from 0 to Rx. Tx: Tx indicates the maximum number of transmitted timeslots (one TDMA frame) available to MS. According to the service class that MS supports, MS must support an integral number of all transmitted timeslots from 0 to Tx. Sum: Sum means the total number of uplink and downlink timeslots (one TDMA frame) used by MS. MS must support combination of all integral values of d <= Rx and u <= Tx TS. According to the service class that MS supports, the formula 1 <= d + u <= Sum must be realized.
3.2
HMC Field
As GPRS/EDGE Multi-timeslot Capability has only five bits (0~31), HMC (30~45) needs additional fields to represent. The new HMC fields and the original GPRS/EDGE Multi-timeslot Capability fields are used for joint identification. HMC has two bits.
If MS Radio Access capability contains no HMC field, it means MS does not support HMC.

Engineering Guide
Application Scenarios
This feature is designed for cell phones that support HMCHigh Multislot Capability. This design enables the bandwidth to expand from 4 timeslots to 5 timeslots when downloading, increasing throughput by 25% and enhancing cell phone download rate.
6.2
Configuration Description
This feature does not involve iBSC and BTS hardware configuration adjustment. Background configuration is not needed, so there is no configuration parameter.
6.3
Network Influence
After the terminal that supports enhanced multislot capability adopts EDA, the uplink rate will be enhanced to some extend, improving user experience. This feature will impose no impact on iBSC capacity or BTS capacity.
