RE-EMPLOYMENT OF FACULTY

PRELUDE

Taking into account the fact that there is a perceptible scarcity of suitable faculty and the same is going to continue for some time to come, there is a felt need of institutionalizing procedures to re-employ suitable distinguished superannuating / superannuated faculty of reputed Institutes to ensure that the institution enjoys the benefit of experience and knowledge of distinguished faculty members for a few more fruitful years of their professional career.

ELIGIBILITY Superannuating / Superannuated Professors from reputed Institutes will be eligible for reemployment in the Institution.

TENURE Re-employment of superannuating teachers will be initially for a period of two years, thereafter extendable by a year each, based on their yearly-appraisal, mental and physical fitness, till they attain the age of 70 years.

PROCEDURE OF SELECTION: As per the resolution No. 157/12 of Executive Board of ISM in its meeting held on 28 th June, 2012, the following three tier Selection procedure will be followed for selection:

(i)

The bio-data of the prospective faculty member as per the proforma attached (Appendix-I) will be scrutinized by the concerned Departmental Advisory

Committee (DAC) and DAC will be required to give their recommendations.

(ii)

The Bio-data with the recommendation of DAC will be evaluated by a Committee headed by the Director with Dean (F&P), HOD concerned and two external experts as members, with Registrar as Secretary. The Committee may meet the candidate, if necessary, before arriving at its recommendations on appointment.

(iii)

Once the Committee recommends, it will be sent to the Chairman, ISM GC & EB for approval.

EMOLUMENTS AND OTHER PRIVILEGES:

a)

A re-employed teacher shall be eligible to draw emoluments equivalent to the last pay drawn minus pension as a consolidated amount which shall remain the same throughout the tenure of re-employment.

b)

The institution may consider the re-employed teachers for campus housing on prevailing terms, if available, or alternatively compensate them to the extent possible towards the house rent.

c)

A re-employed teacher shall be entitled to casual/special casual/duty leave on a par with teaching faculty in regular service.

d)

The institution shall provide all the essential academic facilities to the reemployed teacher.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (I) A re-employed superannuated teacher shall be treated at par with a regular teacher at the institution and shall have the following duties and responsibilities, with no additional financial liability to the institution:

a)

Academic work, like teaching courses, conducting examinations and research guidance. Conducting research and/or taking up sponsored research projects. Launching continuing education programmes in new and emerging areas Organizing/Attending National / International Conferences/Seminars/Symposia/ Workshops Undertaking knowledge-based advisory/consultancy assignments Accepting invitations and delivering Guest Lectures at other institutions Participation in academic/research committees at the institution and elsewhere, when required.

However, a re-employed superannuated teacher shall not be eligible for holding administrative or financial responsibilities at the institution.
