Victory, Step By Step

Ex. 23:25-30 - You shall serve the Lord...He will bless your bread and
water. I will take sickness away from your midst...I will fulfill the
number of your days. I will send my fear before you. I will cause
confusion among all the people to whom you come. I will make all
your enemies turn their backs to you. I will send hornets before you
which will drive out the Hittite, Canaanite... before you. I will not drive
them out in one year...lest the beasts of the field overtake you.

I remember reading this vs. along time ago. Its int'g. When I read
this, it didn't mean much to me. I began to und. it yrs. later. This is
God speaking to Moses. Moses had been up and down Mt. Sainai 3 or 4
times. He would go up and leave the priests and elders down the mtn.
Eventually, he went up for 40 days. When he didn't return, we know
what happened. The people built a calf and worshipped it.

In this time, God speaks to Moses. He said, little by little I will drive
out your enemies before you. If we take this word, little = moment by
moment or step by step. It makes me think of Ezra 9:8, God has given
a little space of grace. A little moment. In Uganda we have a radio
program called, Grace Moments. We never knew how long we'd be on.
Sometimes we were on for 30 seconds and the power would go out.
Just a moment.

Connected to this was a promise given to Joshua, 1:3, wherever the

soul of your foot shall tread, I will give it to you. God said, As I was
with Moses, I will be with you. LIttle by little, moment by moment God
drives out our enemies.

Our plan would be, we get saved, and we are immed. in heaven. In
Gods' mind, that is. We have a Sp. that can never be lost or changed.
THe HS comes into us. THen, little by little, moment by moment, step
by step process begins.

Right before this, God lists a numb. of countries. In vs 28, he mentions

3. Look at this: the Hivvites = a villager. No offense. It means SMALL.
He mentions Caananite = a peddler. It is used as one who sells or
peddles something when they are not honest. THey sell you
something, a magical cure...like snake oil. It will take care of anything.
In Africa, this is everywhere...Don't ever ask them how much anything
costs. You'll not get rid of them.

Hittites = terrorizer. Think of this. These rep. the flesh, the world, and
the devil. The Hivvite = the flesh. Adam, the OSN is small time, yet he
can influence and destroy us. He is not even, if we are Sp. filled, he is
dead. He has no voice or vote. At the same time, he must be driven
out, step by step, moment by moment. It takes time.
God says, I'm not going to remove your flesh and the OSN from you
the moment you get saved.

The Caananite = the World, the peddler. The world thinks they have
the solution. Just stay up late and watch TV...All the junk they are
selling...it doesn't work. Its snake oil. They peddle something to you to
solve your problem. You buy something and get 10 more problems.
Then, they ahve 10 more solutions for you. The world has nothing to
offer us.

God says, step by step, little by little, I'll drive out the world. When we
got saved, how much the world influenced us. When I got saved, went
to Bible college, there was no TV in the dorms. THen, I went on the
mission field and had no TV. For 7 years, I had no clue about anything
on TV. I knew nothing about anyone famous...what was
happening...God drives out the world, step by step, little by little.

Hittities = the terroists, Satan, the devil, the father of lies. The one
who constantly projects himself to be bigger than he really is. Isa 14,
we will all observe the white throne judgment. When Lucifer is brought
up, we all say, is that the one who terroized the world...him...you
must be kidding me. He causes people to live in fear. He infiltrates the
mind...and causes people to live in fear. James 4 tells us how the flesh
is deliverd. THen, it tells us how we are delivered from the world.
THen, when we are humble the devil flees from us.

God told them that he would send hornets before them. I was hunting
once...I was in this thicket...I tried to sneak up on deer. All the
sudden, I stepped on a ground hornets nest. All the sudden...I heard
buzzzz...zzzz. They went up my pant legs. I was stung...all over.
Hornets are nasty.

Think of this. They sting. What happens. If you are in the middle of
them, you will get stung. There are times when the hornets sting us.
Things happen in our life that sting. We didn't see that coming. Things
will hurt us. Sometimes a hornet is a person, a circumstance, that
stings and hurts us. God sent it. Its not to injure us, but to drive out
our enemies: the flesh, the world, the devil. God ordained things in
our lives, that we are not going to like naturally. He sends it, and it

stings us when we don't expect it.

Our finances, our health. God uses it to drive out the enemies. God
said, I'm taking my time to do this. For some, it will be four years.
Others 40 years. We had the face to face service here for Pastor
Murphy. When he was here, his Spirit was deliverd, but his soul and
body wasn't. Now, his soul and body are delieved, Its not until the
Rapture that his body will also be delivered.

God said, I'm going to do this step by step, little by little. I thought of
this: we become overwhelmed...Its basket ball tornament time...What
happens? When listening to one coach, he was asked, how do you get
your team to focus. He said, simple. Your looking at a field of 64
teams. I reduce it. There are 4 areas that this will take place. I'm only
in one. I only need to play 6 teams. We eliminate 58 teams already.
WE don't have to play them. We only focus on what's before us.

When we get saved, we look at us. WE are overwhelmed with what's

going on. God says, don't look at the next 50 years of life...what's the
call of God, the will of God. Deal with this moment, right now. Go little
by little. One step at a time. God will drive out our enemies before us,
one step at a time. One hornet sting at a time. Just break it down. One
simple little step. God takes his time, a life time. Why? So the land,
and pict. ourselves as the land...so the land doesn't become wild. God
cultivates us a little at a time. If he drives out all the enemies,
passivity and laziness sets in.

Its a time of war for Kings, but we just sit there...and we'll see
Bathsheba. The other reason is, bec. beasts will come in. There is one
big enemy that we have. God can't deal with it. Its pride. We get
delivered, then we all the sudden say, look what I did. I used to be like
this...I've changed. We take credit for soemthing we don't deserve. Its
more than the bear or lion we face as David. Its pride that can destroy
us all. So, God does this little by little to keep us humble...depending
on him, knowing its him doing the work he began, Phil. 1:6. He will
accomplish teh work. He's the author and finisher of our faith. He does
the work, and takes us through slowly.

Look at James 4, the 3 enemies...its int'g how God raps it all up by

saying, I'll give grace to the humble...more grace to the humble. If
one is proud, I will oppose them. I set a military stance against them.
I can't look at them.

Where does pride come from? Lucifer. He said, I'll be like the most
high. God is still delivering us. WE are eternally saved forever, but God

is continuously delivering us from ourselves. He is continually

delivering us from the world. Unless we step outside of God's
covering...then we become fair game. God makes circumstances
become the hornet...to sting us and get our attention.

When things are more than we can bear...God says, its a space of
grace. Just take a little step. Lean forwad in faith. He will give us more
grace. if you lean far enough, you fall forward. Little by little, step by
step, God delivers us. Every day, and moment, is an oppor. for us to
see God drive out our enemies. To see God deliver us from the things
that plagued us for years. We say, its been 28 years...I've been
plagued with this for years. How about the woman with the issue of
blood. She was plagued for years. The man born blind (38 Years), his
moment came...and he was healed. It only takes God a moment. He
could deliver us from everything in a moment. But, He gets glory by
taking his time. He would rather deliver us from something every day,
then from everything today. He drives out the enemy little by little.

Thank God...how He has covered me. A man that is in heaven

today...took me to Lenox when I was 17 years old. I heard Pastor
Steven for the 1st time. Then, I met Kim Shibley...putting me in a
place where I could watch practicallity, and spirituality at the same
time. Watching them operate...Then, being under Pastor Scibelli,
watching him as he taught the WOG and discipled people.

One of the worst things that can happen is for a missionary to have
immediate success bec. pride can so easily set in...Insted, God
delights to deliver us little by little, moment by moment, step by
step...Would you pray with me?
