Hello, This is preeti.It was a open campus drive.I have gone through all the rounds of
syntel & by the grace of God I have been selected in syntel. I am here giving u the pattern
of question paper & questions asked in interviewes.

There are 3 rounds in syntel:
1:Written test paper with eassy writting
2:HR(elimination round)
3:Technical inter.

Written::50 questions for 45 minutes
Q1 to Q5 Analogy

further they have given some jumbled letters and we have to put that into a correct
sequence

Next 5 questions : a puzzle was given :
Puzzle: There r 6 teachers ABCDE & a&b is teaching history &english b&c is teaching
maths&hindi & so on...................
Q: How many teachers r teaching maths?
Q: How many r taking more than 2 subjects? etc (Easy but concentrate with time
management )

Next 5 questions were from aptitude:
Time &Work(Go through R.S Agarwal) easy but Logic must me clear to U
Next 10 Q were the tabulation Problem similar to one given in the R.S Agarwal(Go
through it)

Now VERBAL PART (15 QUESTIONS)
Fill in the blanks(3-4Q)
Fill with appropriate articles.
Vocab: a word was given & we have to choose from the given options its opposite or its
related meaning(Little vocab Power required)
After this 10 minutes were given to us for eassy writting.

TIME MANAGEMENT REQUIRED
Results were announced after 6 hrs & out of 1300 students 200 students were shortlisted
for HR round

Technical:
There were 2 panels 4 technical inter. They had our written test paper with them .My
interviewer asked me 2 solve the questions from written test paper

I: Good afternoon sir.
He: Stood up & shaked hands with me & introduced himself.
He: Have a seat preeti

Checked my resume & all the certificates.Futher he asked me to solve the Q from written
test paper.

Further he helped in a q i was uncomfortable with & given me another q similar to that
also asked me some more Q to related logic.He asked me about my teachnical skills &
asked me 1 Q from loops.He also asked for questions 4 him. Again he shaked hands with
me & said "Preeti looking forward to see U at pune".

So I had a strong hope for my result.The interviewers were so polite & cooperative just B
what U R. final selections were 51 out of 200.

Never ever loose UR heart .GOD is great & their is always a second oppurtunity.(It was
my 5th campus) "ALL THE BEST"

I am Arka from Guru Nanak Engg College.. doin my 4-1 .. Recently i got thru da
selection process of Syntel.. The event was held in Malla Reddy College of Engineering.
As the remaining posts here say... The aptitude consists of two sections.. Reasoning and
Verbal...The cut off for reasoning is 13 out of 25 questions and verbal needed 8 out of 15
questions.. U have a time of 1 hr to complete... My test started in da afternoon n it took
nearly 4-5 hrs to announce da results for aptitude..

Aptitude is the first hurdle.. n gettin thru this means half of the job is done.... If u hav
taken up GRE coaching .. try solving the verbal part first n then come to reasoning.. but if
u hav taken up a coachin of CAT then go for reasoning first.. as this section wil b very
easy for them... reasoning is tough if u dnt hav touch wid it.. but refer some books n
understand da methodologies to solve them before goin in..(howeva u'll shud better wat u
shud do frst)

Nearly 1000 students appeared for this test.. n they selected 200 out of them..n 36 were of
my coll...nearly 8 colleges had participated. The remaining rounds were scheduled to be
held four days later on sunday at 9 am.. They arranged us into batches n dependin on the
batch either technical or HR cum GD was done first...

My first interview was HR cum GD... it wasn't so tough...Our whole batch was allowed
in all together.. n everyone had to talk abt self for 2 mins.. they basically check the
communication n interactive skills here.. The HR may even ask some questions to check
ur confidence.. but be confident in wateva ur answerin...

Then she gave us a topic on GD.. Our topic was Globalization... Some advice wud lik to
giv is.. neva b in a hurry to speak.. as if it is da only time u'll b allowed to speak.. dnt try
to cut others statements n make ur point.. try comin to a conclusion n neva keep quiet in a
GD.. speak somethng...

As soon as i came out of the HR interview they intimated me dat i was selected and had
to go for technical round. The technical round wudn't say is tough... but yes great way for
dat guy to shake ur confidence.. he'll try his best but u hav to b at ur best...

Try readin the basics of almost all core subjects wch u had in engg...n yes C
programming.. dats very essential .. wateva branch u belong to..

here's how my technical went..
Tech: Where are u basically from(he was sure i wasn't of south seeing my name)?
Me: i am basically of calcutta
Tech: ok! What is an IP controller??
Me: (shocked!! i was expecting questions frm C, C++J ava or some prog languages... my
mind went blank...esp wen u get a yorker on ur frst ball).. sir! sorry sir am not dat gud at
this subject... this isin't my core sir.. but am good wid da programming languages..
basically am frm IT( i escaped narrowly guys.. dnt try do this..)

Atlast he said.. it was nice meeting u Arka.. do u hav any questions?
Me: Sir wat is it dat u r basically looking for?
Tech: Arka basically we r looking for guys wid self confidence n a lil bit of basic skills...
some thng more also but i forgot..

So basically be through wid those basics.. n even if ur not.. be confident in any manner...
try smiling all da time before him.. n neva show him dat ur tensed.. for some of my
friends he asked questions such as Wat is Newton's II law .. Chemical formulaes n
trignometry stuff... jus to see how he reacts.. react in a positive way.. try getting da
answer.. but if ur not sure neva challenge him..

The results came in 2 days later.. out of 36 frm my coll..14 were selected. I stil can't
believe.. checked da list 3 times today...lolz. take care..jus confidence is wat u need to get
into any company...

hi dis is deepika studying TE(cse) got selected in syntel that is recently conducted at our
campus.It is an ON campus.Nearly 12 colleges attended for this selection.

The selection procedure is as follows
1. Aptitude test
2.GD cum hr
3. Technical

nearly 1000 students attended written test and 169 cleared it and i am one out of
them.Test has the following criteria 40 Q's 60 min .

our test paper was conducted on 4th aug

it consist of 40 ques

25 ques on reasoning and 15 ques on verbal

cuttoff for reasoning was 13 and for verbal was 8

aptitute started at 11:30 and was an 1hr test

REASONING

it consist of ques on blood relations,

coding and decoding,

puzzle,

sentences arrangement in paragraph and to

distinguish between the given statements as assertive, supportive reason, counter logic
and irrelevant

it consist of fill ups,

to replace a proper word from given options for underlined words

it was v easy

result was declared at around 4pm and were grouped in batches for interview

there was suppose to b two different interviews one technical and other hr but due to lack
of time and heavy rains they took only 1 interview and that was tech cum hr and my turn
came at at 8:00pm

there were both sir n madam for interview

I ENTERED THE ROOM AND WISHED GUD AFTERNOON THEN THEY TOLD
ME TO HAV A SEAT
SIR: TELL ME THE MEANING OF UR NAME
ME: I WAS NOT KNOWING, THEN ALSO SAID NETHING.
SIR: CAPABILITIES IN U
ME: SAID AS PER RESUME
SIR: DEFINE CREATIVITY IN SIMPLE ENGLISH WORDS
ME: BLA BLA........
SIR: ASKED ME ABT MY PROJ
ME: THOUGH WAS NOT DECIDED YET THEN ALSO SAID AS OUR GRP WAS
HAVING 1 INDEA IN OUR MIND
n then they told me that i may leave n they will let me know abt my result

then i asked both of their names, also asked wen will be result declared n they told most
probably next week, and wat all qualities they look in freshers to get selected for campus
recruitment. they answered all of them and then i left the room

N AS PER THE NAME TECH CUM HR INTERVIEW, I WAS NOT ASKED A
SINGLE TECHNICAL QUES. I WAS HAVING A GOOD LUCK

OUR RESULT GOT DECLARED ON 9th AUG N I WAS ONE AMONG THE SIX
STUDENTS OF OUR COLLEGE TO BE SELECTED.
n friends they jus look the confidence, communication skills and jus dont be blank in
interview, say watever u know as i did but say...hope this slide will help u to give the test.

HI ! Friends, SYNTEL came to J AYA Eng college.It conducted its witten test on 5th

The placement paper consists of 2 sections :-
1.Reasoning 25 questions (cuttoff 13or 11)
2. English 15 questions (cutt off-8 or 6)
Paper is continous .Common answer sheet 5 options.

1.Reasoning
It consisted of blood relations ,assertion reason, Coding Decoding, etc. CODING
DECODING WAS REALIY TOUGH.

2.English
Fill in the blanks with appropriate words. Find the grammatical error in the sentence.and
Analogy. The test started aroud 12.30.pm It was for 1 hr duration. The results were
declared at 5:30pm. Around 950 students attended the written test and 108 were selected
for interview. The interview started the same day.My interview was conducted the next
day..

Interview
It consisted of HR and Technical combined

HR questions
Q what is ur family background?
Q TEll me about yourself?
Qwhat does sucess mean to u?
Q what is ur favorite subject? I told them J ava as the company makes u was work on
Dotnet and J ava

Then my Technical started

Technical questions
Q What do u mean by polymorphism?
Q what do u mean by Encapsulation?

These 2 question were only asked to me. Intially I was shocked, then i asked him directly
was the process over, he smiled and said u r selected. The interview is quite easy and be
cofident in answering the questions.They r checking the confidence level. Out of 108
only 52 were placed and i was one of them. Hope this exp will help u and we will meet in
Syntel. Dont get dishearteded as u will be placed one day . This was my 6th company.

Hai every body,
The presentation started by 11.00. First round is aptitude. It is logical 25 questions and
verbal 15 questions. some of the logical questions are as follows.

how long is he is from his home.
2) a,b, c, d, and e are friends. if
a and b plays carrom and hockey,

brother of o. and q is the spouse of o. s is the son of q. t is q's spouse and m and n are
their children of the same sex.

and coming to verbal it is like exact meanings and come questions as below

the second round is technical round. where questions are from os, data structures and
dbms. some questions are from c and c++also.
the third round is hr. only 50 candidates were selected.

prepare well both reasoning and verbal.

I attended SYNTEL interview on 12th august 2007.

Eligibility:
1) >=55% in all examinations including 10th, 12th and college aggregate upto 5th
semester.
2) No standing arrears.

Selection Procedure
Round 1: Aptitude Test
Round 2: Technical Interview(P.I.)
Round 3: Human Resource Interview(P.I.)

Aptitude Test Pattern:
Total Marks =40

No. of questions in 1st section =25
No. of questions in 2nd section =15
Mark distribution =1 mark each. (No negative marking)

Technical Interview:
Since I did a mini-project, I was asked to explain it! I took much time for that and
explained it from the beginning, with its advantages and limitations.

Then I was asked questions from C. Since I was a beginner in C, I could not answer much,
but somehow managed with all I knew!

Then, as I am from ECE department, questions from microprocessor was asked! The
questions included 8086 microprocessor architecture, register structures, addressing
modes, instruction set and so on. I answered all those questions but had some difficulties
with the instructon set as he asked me to tell all the instructions I knew.

Then, he gave me a paper and asked me to draw certain gate diagrams and also to write
down the truth-table for those gates!
These are the questions I remember.

It all depends on how cool you are during the interviews! The more you get hot, greater
are the chances for appearing blank before the personnels! So be cool and try to answer
all the questions.

Human Resource Interview:
I had the HR round before the technical round. This was quite interesting....

The interviewer was a Lady. She asked me to introduce myself. I told her my academic
history. But as she emphasised on my personal life, I started with my hobbies. I said I
love singing and playing guitar. Immediately she interrupted and asked me to sing a song
for her. I was totally taken by surprise and had no other option but to sing!

Then she went through my resume and asked me to explain what I learnt from the
Industrial visits I had gone. I explained all that I knew. The interview went on interesting
with many such questions. But these are some noteworthy ones!

After the interviews were over, we were told that the results will be sent to the respective
Placement Deans of each colleges. So we left very soon enjoying the rain that blessed
that night!

It was thursday when we attended the interviews, and on saturday I was informed through
a phone-call from my Placement Dean that I was placed.

Praise God!!!HE DOES MIGHTY THINGS WE NEVER EVEN DREAM OFF!

SYNTEL PAPER ON 14th J ULY

Hi friends, My name is Gabriel Oliver Washington from C.Abdul Hakeem College of
Engineering and Technology, Vellore TN,pusuing my B.Tech IT

I was selected in Syntel through the off campus at Arunai Engineering College. There
were about 8 colleges participating and around 600 candidates. Around 40 candidates
were selected(not sure) 7 from our college.

INTERVIEW PROCESS:
Our interview process had 3 stages
1.Logical & English
2.HR Round
3.Technical Round

Logical & Reasoning:
This round in syntel is a bit difficult compared to other written papers as it does'nt have
any aptitude and u hav nothin to work with formulas. You have 25 Qs from
Logical(Verbal & Non Verbal)Reasoning , 15 Qs from English
R.S Agarwal Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning book is more than enough.

Topics u need to prepare:
LOGICAL PART: analogy, classification, series completion, coding & decoding, Blood
Relations, puzzle test, Syllogism,analytical Reasoning
ENGLISH: Antonymns, Synonymns, Find the Gramatical error, Complete the sentence.

I did'nt hav Qs from all these topics but these r the topics u can expect in ur written test.
Test Duration is 1 hour. Type - filling the omr sheet
Time management is very important.

Practice all type of problems as it takes u more time to solve cos these are not aptitude
type Qs. After the Written Test about 2 hrs Later the results were anounced. My name
was the last one to be read out. Then The PPT was conducted and presented about their
company's vision, mission, customers, the training, salary, bond ect. We were said that
we had to sign a bond of 2 yrs for a pay of 2.6 lacs PA. Later we were given a HR form
to be filled were u enter personal information and Key skills. U can expect Qs from key
skills.

HR ROUND:
Te HR round was very easy for me.

curricular,leadership quality, Industrial visit, hobbies, strength.)
IVWR:So now y should i giv u a job
ME: I'm a B.Tech Student doin my Final yr and i have a few talents and knowledge in
computers that u can make it better so that i will work for your industry to make more
profit, u giv me a part of that profit for my contribution in it as a salary.I'll make the
company grow and i'll grow along with it.
IVWR: u can go and attend the Tech round
ME:thank u ma'am

I WALKED IN AND OUT WITH CONFIDENCE

TECH ROUND:
the QS were from core subjects ,c ,c++and data structures for me and all of my frnds. As
I was from IT I had Qs like
1.wat r the stages in a software life cycle
2.wat is slice time
3.does the slice time change
4.On wat basis
4.Dif b/w System s/w & appln s/w
5.named a few s/w and told to identify them and y.
6.Wat is a tree
7.Explain Binary tree
8.wat is the basic rule of binary tree
9.Explain Linked List
10.Explain Stack & Queue

I Dint prepare tech that deep so I walked in nervous. But Qs were easy but still cudnt cum
out with ans b'cos of nervousness. Later aftr 4 Qs i was confident & answered. My tech
Interview performance was not that good even though I got selected.

Its Important to know that they look out for good communication skills.
One last tip : One of my best friends who has an Excellent Academic Perfomance & good
communication skills was out in HR round just of 1 reason.
He was caught in a Q - who is ur role model?
He answered Bill Gates and the interviewer started firing Qs about Bill Gates, and
he got caught in aQ - Wat was the latest award he got? The interviewer asked him cant u
keep urself well informed about ur role model and he was out .

So better tell a person whom u r confident abt or else opt for options like 10th maths
ma'am, My Uncle ,DAD ect.. noting down a few success and good characters.

SYNTEL PAPER ON 16th DECEMBER 2007 AT COIMBATORE
Hi i am lashmi narasimhan from SNRSONS college ,coimbatore,tamil nadu. i m going to
tell some secrets about systel interview,...before tha we hav 2 discuss some basic
concepts about interview k. dont loose ur hope .if u selector not select it dsnt matter k but
u hav to try ..one day god will give good oppurtunity to you... making of a pyramid will
tak more time than ordinary building but its pride???????.so be confident k.

There was 60 questions 1 hr time only 55%&above allowed package 2.15 lacs. 2 section
in apti 1st is logical with quanti and 2nd is verbal to crack quanti just do RS agarwal
verbal and nonvebal book not all section just see ssome models k. for me there is no
negative marking .its very very easy..in quanti many ques same ans . just the twisted the
ques thats all. from 1200 stdnts 200 short listed .

Then i cleared Gd but usually there is no GD but for us total no is too high know so to
reduce that we had gd topic is simple who is succesful person men or women ? i talkd abt
men .. dnt bother about english speak speak thats all.

Next round is rapit fire round form ur ans immediately they ask ques dnt try to give exact
ans just bluf(for eg how mny clubs do u hav ... 5 rotary red ribbon etc,hwmny studnts per
class like that)
Next technical so simple i mentioned only c and sql (simple queries}they ask simple
things lik wt is pointer,arry,structure?
wt is diff between structure and arry or union ?
is array pionter?
wt is mean by %u etc only theory not prgm i escapd but many of my frnds have
prgm..from 200 people 60 shrt listed for HR then finnally only 48 student are selected i m
th 47th person ... be bold,confident u will succed

SYNTEL PAPER ON 16th J UNE

Hello friends.. I got placed in SYNTEL.. its a good company.. until later I realised it
later.Hope my review would help u irrespective of u get selected or not. I reached the test
centre at 0910 hrs.. while the reporting time was suposed to be 0800 hrs. Well everyone
were late engh.. tht didn't matter though. The written test started at 1130 hrs. Duration : 1
hour.

The written test had 2 sections : Logical & Verbal
The Logical section had 25 questions and cut - off 15.

The Verbal section had 15 questions and cut-off 8 .

But I strongly believe that the cut-off marks were varied a little up & down.. though not
by a big margin. The logical sections include symbols, coding, blood relations, series and
2 DI questions.

The verbal section consisted of correction of sentences, substitution of correct words, and
passages. Rating of the exam will be characteristic frm person 2 person.. so I wouldn't
comment on that.

Results were announced, a brief inroduction abt the company was given. The next round
was a Technical cum HR round conducted in 2 stages.
First I was called for the HR round. It was a lady. She was a little serious with me unlike
was friendly with others as thy said.

She : Tell me abt urself .
me : blah blah.
She : took out a form , asked my full name and mobile No.
me : given.
She : wat did u like in the presation of the company given.
me : I liked ur explanation, my scope in the company and the company's interest in the
employee.
she : where do u want 2 c urself years frm now.
me : I'd c myself in a good position, around respectable ppl in the society.
she : don't u have any aims/ goals. get specific..
me : well ma'am am good at VHDL, VLSI, MPI and very good in C. Tht explains tht I
like my field. I am lookin 2 shift to software through Embeded systems which would
serve both my learning so far & the sotware boom now in the market. ( folks am frm ECE
engineering stream )
she ( seemed not at all interested gave a more rather grin face ) : wat is the architecture of
8085 ?
me : asked for a paper, she gave.. I thought for abt 30 sec.. and finally answered I DON'T
KNW.
she (gave an akward smile engh 2 irritate me but gotta 2 get my cool back ) : wat r the
address and data lines of 8085 ?
me : told.
she ( seemed dissatisfied ) asked the same for 8086 ?
me : told.
she : architecture of 8086 ?
me : drawn.
she : draw the pin diagram of 8086.
me : drew.

( FOLKS IF U NOTICE I SEEM 2 HAVE BOOTED ABT MY ACADEMIC
KNOWLEDGE IN THE PREV QUESTION.. SO SHE WAS AT IT.. NOT ALL WILL
B ASKED THE SAME DON'T WORRY )

I answered & he got confused.
I explained frm strach line by line.
he asked me 2 chnage the value of a variable without using assignment operator.
I took a little time & took an array & mixed pointers.. and changed the base address of
the array.
he was damn damn impressed, while during all this process I used the assignment
operator four times.
More than the answer thy look at ur approach.
he asked me abt printf function unions & structures, stacks..

first interview :CTS .........didnt cleared the 1 st round itself
second interview :CARITOR.........gone thro aps n GD but expelled in tech interview
which lasted for 45 mins
third interview :SYNTEL..................

u really need to have a zeal in ur heart to get thro an interview process....it all started 4
me from the 6 sem vacations..........i become almost a maniac in the month of
june..............solved each n every problem from RS AGGARWAL non verbal
reasoning..quite big one...........it was like 24 hrs a day was not enough 4 me to get thro
the topics.......................i attended the CTS on 23 june..did the aps and nonverbal
exceptionally well except 4 the verbal which thrashed my CTS dream ..................i came
out with a heavy heart but determined to do better in future...................J ESUS gave me
another chance that too in a row of 6 companies following.......................what ever i
studied earlier helped me to get thro the aps of caritor...........the paper was really a
standard one................but luck diddnt favoured me in the tech interview....it was a
burning hell ..........lasted upto 45 minutes................nearly 40 to 50 questions.............5

process.................finally my topic was chosen......and i waited until 7 finished out of
12.....to my surprise i found all of them were telling that GD should be there in a selection
process...........i was perplexed bcoz i was also about to support it...............at the last
moment my presence of mind and spontaniety helped me to outwit others...i spoke for
more than 5 minutes about the other side of group discussion which could make any one
have a second thought about having it in a selection process....... .................my command
over the language and my very own style and accent attracted all the group members and
the HR ofcourse.......................then from the next four 3 opposed me and my classmate

What i am going to tell u might be inferior but thats true in SYNTEL......................the
GD is your HR interview where they decide whether u are HR select or
reject...................hands down i got selected in it....................my tech interview was like a

on 24 afternoon i was having coffee in the anna auditorium VIT.....they declared the
results...........................only 29 were selected and i was the only one from my coll..thanks
to J ESUS...................have faith in god and in u especially.........................dont give up

SYNTEL PAPER ON 23rd J UNE

hello frendz,am GAURAV NANDA from UIET,kanpur and got placed in SYNTEL on
sunday 24/06. There were around 1200-1500 students of which around 60 were chosen
for next phase n some 30 finally made their way to syntel.

we were supposed to report at 8:30 n were expecting the written to commence from 10 or
so. No hall-tickets were isuued so we had to collect the reference no. There was a total
chaos n the arrangement made by college was not upto the mark.The refernce allotment
got over by 10:30 n we were told to evacuate the building(mismanagement again).We
finally entered our respective classes around 11:30 n the writen exam finally began at
1pm.

The paper had 2 sections,one after the other

SECTION 1: GENERAL APTITUDE
there were 5 ques with 5 subparts each

1) a very simple ques on BLOOD RELATIONS
2)some conditions like experience,qualifications,domicile) for various
posts(director,manager etc) followed by 5 persons with diff. satisfying criteria,we simply
had to
answer their deserving posts (the ques had complex looks bt was pretty simple)
3)a quest on CODING DECODING
3 words along with some coding were given we had to identify the corresponding coded
alphabet for some characters (was easy but i got stuck in one of the subparts,ws ambigous)
4) 5 quest with 4 english statements each were given n we had to classify each as
a) assertion
b) supporting reason
c) counter logic
d) irrelavant
it was for the first time i encountered such quest so took me time to tackle it

SECTION 2: ENGLISH
The paper was really well designed and must had proved desicive for the next phase,in
short this section was REALLY TYPICAL
The paper comprised sentence correction,analogies(very hard vocab) etc.
The paper got over at 2 pm and the results were supposed to be declared around 4(after
the presentation)
The presentation began at 3:15 n continued till 4 pm
we all were exhausted and the results were announced at 5:45pm with severe mic
problems n total chaos all around,i was able to confirm my selection at 6:15 (the mic was
figured,i presume)
The tech-hr ws to started after 15min,we were given a single paged form with some
details as hobbies,project if any etc.

THE TECH-HR WAS COMBINED
my turn came around 8 pm n was about 20-30 min long
1) diff b/w return by value n reference
2) baud rate,osi levels

3) since my interest was in net i was shooted ques on proxy,links,blog etc etc
4) i was offered a very simple puzzle but was unable to solve it
5) how many placements have you appered into?
6)what can syntel expect from you ?

To wind up,this round was all about good communication skills n some programming
requisites
Half of the selected candidates were interviewed next day n the final result was
announced at 2 pm (24/06/07),and by the grace of god n blessings of my well wishers i
made through it...............CONFIDENCE WAS THE KEY !!

SYNTEL PAPER ON 27th MAY

hai,dis is lahari.i recently got placed in SYNTEL.the recruitment process was held for
2008 batch and it was for 2 days on 27 n 28 may at RGM college,nandyala.

on 27 may dey conducted written test n on d next day i.e., on 28 may d technical n HR
interviews were on.the .8 colleges were invited n intell college was one among
them.from our college(Intell engg. coll) around 190 students atteneded the written test,on
the whole there were 780 students including all the 9 colleges n only 70 were filtered at
the written test n 27 were finally recruited.By god's grace n my hardwork I was one
among those 27.

Written test: (40 questions in 75 min) consists of sectional cutoff n will b mentioned in

4.45p.m.out of 780 students who appered for writtn test 70 were were screened.i was one
among them.then the company potrayed their ppt for 90 min n we were relieved..

the next day on 28 may the technical n HR intreviews were on.. shockningly i was the
first person to go for the technical interview...

Technical interview:

my panel consists of a gent.as i was the first person to go for technical round i was bit
nervous, i went in and first the panel member wished me n later i.then he asked abut my
resume n asked some questions lik tell me abut urself,wat abut ur family background bla
bla....as i was a computer student i had my technical questions on concepts lik c, java,
dbms,computer networks,operating systems.

atlast he asked any questions for me,i said "no sir"then he said" u r gud at ur
communication skills.iam impressed."i said "thank u sir,iam pretty gud at my
communicaton skills."

HR interview:

then after 15 min i had Hr interview.i was so cool for this round bcoz i was confident.

my hr interviewer was an lady.she asked tell me something which is not mentioned in ur
resume,tell m abut ur family background as my sis is working as a software professional
she started asking questions on which technology does she works,which place n how did
she got placed.then she asked abut my strengths n asked me to explain with a scenario,i
did it pretty well.finally she asked "any questions for me". i said no mam n said thank u n
left the room..

after interview i was quite confident abut my interview n waiting for the results.at last
they announced the names of the selected students at around 4.30 p.m and guess wat i
was 1 among those 27.. hope this piece of information abut interview will help u to get on

He: Stood up & shaked hands with me & introduced himself.
He: Have a seat preeti

Checked my resume & all the certificates.Futher he asked me to solve the Q from written
test paper.

Further he helped in a q i was uncomfortable with & given me another q similar to that
also asked me some more Q to related logic.He asked me about my teachnical skills &
asked me 1 Q from loops.He also asked for questions 4 him. Again he shaked hands with
me & said "Preeti looking forward to see U at pune".

So I had a strong hope for my result.The interviewers were so polite & cooperative just
B what U R. final selections were 51 out of 200.

Never ever loose UR heart .GOD is great & their is always a second oppurtunity.(It was
my 5th campus) "ALL THE BEST"

this round consist of two sections logical and verbal....logica-25 and verbal-15 ....there
are sectional cut off....but it is very easy to achieve mainly they will be asking
series(8),find the sentence which correctly matches the paragraph(10 ques),paragraph
puzzles(6 ques) thats all i remeber in logical part
In verbal part they gave some 2 opposites,analogy,choose the correct sentence (700 wrote
the test and 268 cleared aptitude test)

Group Discussion
this is an elimination round.... In gd they were 15 people per batch and they selected 3
peoples per batch and in my batch they selected 6 people, even though i spoke last i got
selected........i was able to impress all the people in gd.....my advice is that speak some
valid points in different manner in such a way u catch the attention of people in gd

topic : indian education VS foriegn education

268 attended ...they selected 75 people in gd

after gd,they checked our mark sheets........their criteria is that ....person should not hav
arrear till current semester

hello guys
I am Arka from Guru Nanak Engg College.. doin my 4-1 .. Recently i got thru da
selection process of Syntel.. The event was held in Malla Reddy College of Engineering.
As the remaining posts here say... The aptitude consists of two sections.. Reasoning and
Verbal...The cut off for reasoning is 13 out of 25 questions and verbal needed 8 out of 15
questions.. U have a time of 1 hr to complete... My test started in da afternoon n it took
nearly 4-5 hrs to announce da results for aptitude..

Aptitude is the first hurdle.. n gettin thru this means half of the job is done.... If u hav
taken up GRE coaching .. try solving the verbal part first n then come to reasoning.. but if
u hav taken up a coachin of CAT then go for reasoning first.. as this section wil b very
easy for them... reasoning is tough if u dnt hav touch wid it.. but refer some books n
understand da methodologies to solve them before goin in..(howeva u'll shud better wat u
shud do frst)

Nearly 1000 students appeared for this test.. n they selected 200 out of them..n 36 were of
my coll...nearly 8 colleges had participated. The remaining rounds were scheduled to be
held four days later on sunday at 9 am.. They arranged us into batches n dependin on the
batch either technical or HR cum GD was done first...

My first interview was HR cum GD... it wasn't so tough...Our whole batch was allowed
in all together.. n everyone had to talk abt self for 2 mins.. they basically check the

communication n interactive skills here.. The HR may even ask some questions to check
ur confidence.. but be confident in wateva ur answerin...

Then she gave us a topic on GD.. Our topic was Globalization... Some advice wud lik to
giv is.. neva b in a hurry to speak.. as if it is da only time u'll b allowed to speak.. dnt try
to cut others statements n make ur point.. try comin to a conclusion n neva keep quiet in a
GD.. speak somethng...

As soon as i came out of the HR interview they intimated me dat i was selected and had
to go for technical round. The technical round wudn't say is tough... but yes great way for
dat guy to shake ur confidence.. he'll try his best but u hav to b at ur best...

Try readin the basics of almost all core subjects wch u had in engg...n yes C
programming.. dats very essential .. wateva branch u belong to..

The results came in 2 days later.. out of 36 frm my coll..14 were selected. I stil can't
believe.. checked da list 3 times today...lolz. take care..jus confidence is wat u need to get
into any company...

SYNTEL-Placement Paper-25 April 2006-Noida

The pattern consist of 3 sections:

1. Aptitude(general) test
2. HR Interview
3. Technical Interview

Written test:

The first thing in written was to manage the time,bcoz there was a bulk of
questions(some ques repeat) in written three different parts were there and each having
cutoff range.

The first paper was of English:
In English there were 20 ques and you need to complete it in 15 mins.
Those were like paragraphs and synonyms & antonioms.
The cut-off range(I dont remember properly) was 12.

The second paper was of Maths:-

In maths paper there were 45 ques and needed to complete in 30 mins
The ques were simple logical.
The cut-off range was I think 30.

The third paper was of Aptitude:-

The ques were mostly from R.S.Agrawal.Those were simple.and quite analytical
Some ques are repeated.

I think there were 35 ques and needed to complete in 20 mins.
The cut-off range was I think 20.The paper was not that tough .
Now the toughest time came i.e to wait for interview.
That camp-us was a record campus around 6800 students were appeared for that test.the
written was held in 3 shifts.

As I told you there were 2 interviews hr & technical.
First my technical was taken,and I think I waited for 12 hours for that Iview.
My technical was taken by a mam,who passed out from jss,noida(now at some high
place in Syntel).

She asked me for :-

2.semaphores.
3.data structure,
4.acid properties.

Rest I dont remember but mostly It was from dbms & daa,/ds.

Then it continued with hr/personal Iview.

This interview of mine was taken by companys V.P. and I was preety confident after
this,I went in the interview room by thinking that I have nothing to loose,only I can get
something.

And finally.. I got selected.

The pattern consist of 3 sections:

1. Aptitude(general) test
2. HR Interview
3. Technical Interview

Written test:

The first thing in written was to manage the time,bcoz there was a bulk of
questions(some ques repeat) in written three different parts were there and each having
cutoff range.

The first paper was of English:
In English there were 20 ques and you need to complete it in 15 mins.
Those were like paragraphs and synonyms & antonioms.
The cut-off range(I dont remember properly) was 12.

The second paper was of Maths:-

In maths paper there were 45 ques and needed to complete in 30 mins
The ques were simple logical.
The cut-off range was I think 30.

The third paper was of Aptitude:-

The ques were mostly from R.S.Agrawal.Those were simple.and quite analytical
Some ques are repeated.

I think there were 35 ques and needed to complete in 20 mins.
The cut-off range was I think 20.The paper was not that tough .
Now the toughest time came i.e to wait for interview.
That camp-us was a record campus around 6800 students were appeared for that test.the
written was held in 3 shifts.

Interview time:-
As I told you there were 2 interviews hr & technical.
First my technical was taken,and I think I waited for 12 hours for that Iview.
My technical was taken by a mam,who passed out from jss,noida(now at some high place
in Syntel).

She asked me for :-
1.was to identify Armstrong no.
2.semaphores.
3.data structure,
4.acid properties.

Rest I dont remember but mostly It was from dbms & daa,/ds.

Then it continued with hr/personal Iview.

Hi every body in Asma, I recently got placed in syntel.
The recruitment was held for 2008 batch on 28 th n 29th of April 07 in hkbkce in
Bangalore n 22 colleges were invited n knsit was one among them.
There were 2 rounds:-
1) Written test
The test consisted of 2 sections n was for 1 hour

i) Logical reasoning (25 questions cut off 13):
Questions were like find the odd word,puzzles,blood relations,series of symbols, logical
deductions like syllogism.

ii)English section(15 questions cut off 8):-
small passage will be given n we need to select a sentence to represent d meaning of the
passage. Fill in the blanks with appropriate words. find the grammatical error in the
sentence.

Out of 2,500 students 96 cleared the written test.

2)tech n hr interview :-
it was held the next day i.e. 29 april.
there were 2 people interviewing each candidate

the questions were quite simple
1)tell me abt urself
2)which is ur fav subject
3)diff between c n c++
4)what is data structures
5)what do u know in dbms
6)what is sql
7)what r pointers
8)diff b/w main mem n auxiliary mem
9)what search engines do u use
10)are u aware of any new innovations in software field

out of 96 students 30 were placed.
The main thing is to be positive n confident.
They are looking for people who know c and have good communication skill.

Hello Friends.
Syntel come to Chhattisgarh .It was open for all the colleges .The campus was conducted
by R.C.E.T Bhilai.
55% in till now in semesters.
Written test
The placement paper consists of 2 sections :-

2. Verbal 15 questions (cutt off-8)
Cutt of already mentioned in the question papers. Paper is continous .Common answer
sheet 5 options.
1.Reasoning
The first 5 questions were to pick up the odd one out
3 of then was easy.like a)Wheat b)Barley c)Gram d)rie e) pulses Ans (d)
a)pouch b)stall c)...sth like that I mark b) stall as answer.
If u want to go through Barrons u can but they change questions.

The next set of quetions were based on the string like L4$E5@RA6%TH!7 sth like that
not exact questions like
1.no of digits followed by symbols
2.one was which is the 7 position right to the left of the string sth like that.
3.which is the last if we select from first then last ,second then second last
this type of questions were easy do practice it One question which repeated was of T-shirt
of Sourav ,Sachin Sehwag,Rahul 3 conditions were given pretty easy u can do it.
5 questions were of syllolism like all cats are dog all dogs are cow
u have select the best possible sequence.a)BDE b)CDE c)ACE practice this type of
questions.
2.Verbal
This section is easy if u r thorough with ur grammar fill in the words in the passage
Duration : 1Hr
Don't stuck to one sections do both the sections precisely otheriwse u will run out of time.
After the test they shown us the ppt .It was nice.
test started at 11:15 result of wirtten declared at 3.30pm 2000(approx) appeared for the
test out of which 100(approx) clear the test.2 batches were there for the written round.
Then we assemble at the audi they gave us Biodata form we have to fill it and attach with
our cv,grade sheet photocopy, and submit it.Do keep atleast 3 copies of your
marksheets(attested), cv otherwise they will make u run at the time of Interview. Also
verification of marksheet is done.
Interview Our Interview round started at around 7.00pm
The interview round consisted of 2 phases the TI and the HR .All the students who
passed there written will have to give both TI as well as HR. Girls are given
preference .Since I was in the 1st batch I had both on the same day.35 students were
halted for the Inter rest for the next day.

My interview started at around 9.50pm . I entered the room. The panel consist of 1
person .
Sir- Breif yourself.
me- blabla
Sir-Tell me about ppt.
Me- explained everything nicely (as I mentioned abt my ppt in my intro)
Sir-Do u know coding.
Me- Yes Sir
then he gave me 2 question of (SQL) like we r having 2 table and he asked me to join
both of then I explained
another was pretty difficult but I manage to explain him abt the method to access.
Sir: ok u may leave
ME- Thank u Sir & left.
Other panel asked simple questions like fibonacci,factorial,prime no if u dont know be
confident
They r mainly looking for C people so they r checking with simple prg for other branch.
HR round
This time panel was maam she was cool she just asked me abt myself
asked me to explain my storng pts with real life examples which I nicely did They r
mainly looking for peope having good coom skills
My both the Interview held for about 10-20 mts each.
The result was declared next day around 8 pm.I was not sure of my selection but I got
selected Out of 100 students who cleared written 67 were selected finally and I was one
of them. They brought big cake which was shared by all students.

hello everyone.
i am abhijeet verma. i got selected in syntel inc. through campus placement procedure
conducted by company in N.I.E.T. total of 8 college were invited and k.i.e.t. was one of
our college present there.

eligibilty criteria:
55% till last sem.
55% in 10th and 12th.
Written Test:
two sections. (no mathematics)
1: logical section (25 question) cut off 13
2: English section (15 question) cut off 8
cut off was already written on the answer sheet.
logical sections had question like a series of symbols,alphabets and numbers where u
have to answer in-accordance. then question on odd man out. other quetions were like in
a place yes is said no and no is said may be,........ then few questions where asked on it.
English section was quite easy. u just have to use us daily life vocab. and simple grammar.
question where on simple comprehension passage and fill in the blanks.
from 1200(apprx) students 159 cleared the written test.
Then all the qualified people were asked to assemble in the hall. A form was distributed
among us, and we need to fill it. the form required our us to fill our information -
personal and educational. the announcement was made that the interview will be
conducted next day.
Interview:
we were called at 9:30 sharp and there were four pannels some had two people and some
had only one. students were alloted pannel rondomly. my turn for interview came at
around 3:15 p.m. and lasted for 45 min.
i entered the room, only one lady was sitting there i wish her and stood next to the chair.
she asked me to sit. then she asked me to tell about myself . then she asked bout my
family background. the she asked bout my marks. then she asked me bout my strengths.
she was quite impressed wid my answers.
then she asked me a question that tell the transmission of signal from one mobile to
another and also tell the different form of signal wave used in it. then she asked me to tell
her my subject on wiz i had command. i told her data structure and microprocessor. she
asked me output of few programs and many other question from c, c++and data structure
and in the last she wanted me to ask any questions from her.
i asked her couple of sensible question.
the only thing they were looking in a person was comm. skill. and how the person reacts
on different questions and atlast i got selected.
out of 159 - 55 students were selected.

WRITTEN TEST
I will be explaining the paper details now.......first of all, the pattern was like this

There r two section Reasoning & Verbal total 40 marks
Reasoning --25 verbal--- 15
CUTOFF --13 --- 8
Note: The paper was little bit tougher than the other comp.if the competition will more
theyll extend the cutoff in the lastBUT MOST IMP THING IS THAT IF U HAVE
GOOD PERCENTAGE IN 10TH ,12TH AND IN ENGG (CGPA) U WILL GET THE
BETTER ADVANTAGE THAN OTHER. Because most of my friend also cleared the
apti test but they were not short listed due to the less %age in 10th ,12th & in enggBut
I was the university 2nd topper and I have good %age in 10th and 12th and in engg
(80,79,70) I was being short listed for interview
There are mainly two interviews first is TI and another is HR.
The TI is little bit tougher than HR.if u have cleared Ur TI by full confidence.ur
chances for selections will Inc...Friendssssss be cool & confident at the time of
interview.and before going to the interview dont forget to take Xerox of each and
every mark sheet and two passport photo.otherwise they give u tension at the main
time of interview
Technical interview:

SYNTEL PAPER ON 16th MARCH AT JAIPUR
Hello friends im Devan got placed recently , syntel visited here on 16th n 17th march for
central recruitment for 2008 batch , the apti was on 16th while interviews were scheduled
on 17th , the next day !!
there were follwing phases(this is the latest pattern , as mentioned by others too , in
previous papers)
1> reasoning ( 25 questions , cut of was mentioned on the answer sheet , 13 )
2> verbal ( 15 questions , cut off was 8 )
3> technical + hr interview
total time - 1 hour
1> the reasoning
it consisted of 25 questions , pretty easy ones mixed with moderately tuff questions , so
i'd rate this section as moderate... i can mention some of the questions that i remember ,
like choose the odd word out ...then there was one question like...if sachin is wearing
sourav's t shirt...sehwag is wearing yuvraj's...sourav comes to bat ahead of
rahul..etc..whose t shirt would sourav be wearing..was easy one..
then there was one blood relationship question ... another one was a series like
AB*!1D+E*2%G3I*K(this is not the exact question)
5 questions were based on this series like - if order of series is reversed , find the 11th
element to the left of 7th element from right , find 7th ele from left of 11th from right...
if later half of series is reversed , what would be the 7th ele. from right of 11th..
how many symbols are immediately followed by odd no. etc. (simple questions)
2>verbal
this was a good section..a passage with 5 questions..
5 questions on - some sentences were given and find the error in one of the word/words
underlined like
one day / mary and jane / has gone to the / village to fetch / some water

( just an example , not actual question , sentences were tuffer than this one) etc
3 > tech + hr interview
be confident thru out while ure speaking in front of them...even if ure not technically
strong... the interviewers - gentleman n a lady , luked quite young , not more than 28/29 i
guess...
the gentleman asked tech questions and the lady asked hr
the man aksed me where i belonged to and questions followed like

>then he asked me my subjects in 6th sem , computer networks was one of them so he
asked me - use of data link layer
>osi model layers
in the beginning i told them i wasnt gud with tech(prog part) and was more interested in
gaming , multimedia n web aspects..so >they asked what if we put u on coding
department in the company....i said i will learn...work hard for it..wll do it..
be confident while answering
others were asked to write programs as i heard - pallindrome , armstrong number ...
>overloading n overriding
>sorting n searching algos(for sure)
he was done...and then lady asked me hr questions like

>my strengths , i said self confidence , leadership qualities ... hence she asked what
would a good leader be like ??..and a couple of questions on team n members(confusing
ones , just answer what u think , dnt pretend ure answering a mugged up answer , they'd
catch u easily)
>can i work in chennai ... i said i am ready to work from kashmir to kanyakumari....they
smiled..
the interview lasted for 20 mins approx
total students appeared - between 2500 - 3000
selected for interview - around 140
placed - 54
they said call letters will be alloted within 2 weeks...

SYNTEL PAPER ON 16th MARCH AT MADURAI

I attended Syntel Off-Campus Recruitment at Madurai, Tamilnadu on Mar16th & 17th,
2007 and got the results on Mar21st evening.

The Pattern is as follows:
On Mar 16th, I attended 1st round. First they invite all of the people and showed
presentation about SYNTEL. Next you will be taken to the respective exam halls.

Aptitude Round:
Logical Reasoning 25 marks
Verbal Reasoning 15 mark
The test will be conducted for one hour and 15 mins. We completed the test by 11.15am
and the results were announced by 2pm. I got selected. The selected people were given a
Bio-Data form to fill, it includes your name, %, institution, university, name and work
of brothers and sisters, ur addr, phone no, ur training and project and finally ur s/w skills.

Be careful while filling this form because during HR only from that form ques will be put
to u. They will ask not your resume or photo! Only this form is going to be your evidence.

I attended the HR+TECH interview on 17th by 9am.The interview was cool, HR first
asked me to sit back and relaxed. The questions are
1. Tell me about yourself,
2. What have you done in your training?
3. Can you explain me your project?
4. Why you are interested in Networking?
5. Have you learnt J ava of your own interest or academically? (As I have mentioned
J ava in the s/w skills along with c and c++)
6. The he asked 2 questions from J ava.
7. How would you prove your leadership skill?
8. Finally, any questions for us
Be cool folksthey check your communication skills, ability, confidence level and your
skills up to 65% at least. They try to make you answer.
For most of my friends, during HR only two questions were asked. Tell me about
yourself and explain project.

They announced the results only on the 4th day, Mar 21st evening by 5pm. Thank God, I
got selected. They analyze our performance for 2 days and the results are being
announced only after 2 days For us as Sunday and Monday were holidays, they
announced it by Wednesday. I extend my thanks to those who posted their experience
and ques. Be confident and +ve ALL THE BEST!!!
