This spreadsheet is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied.

When to use this spreadsheet 1) This spreadsheet performs a complete process capability analysis. The data is displayed using a Histogram and SPC charts. The SPC charts are evaluated for 8 stability criteria. A capability analysis is performed providing a summary of the process data values for Cp! Pp! and SPC limits for "ndividual #oving $ange charts or % &ar $ charts % #edian Charts and Pre'Control charts. () This spreadsheet is intended to be used by individuals ne) to the *uality sciences that are unsure ho) to perform a complete capability study. A more thorough analysis can be performed manually or using a soft)are pac!age such as #initab. Instructions for Data Entry 1) +rgani,e your data in a single column. "f the data is sub'grouped order the data by sub'group and sample. -or e.ample if you have three subgroups of sample si,e e*ual to / you should order your data 1 ( 0 1 / 1 ( 0 1 / 1 ( 0 1 /. () 2nter or paste your data into the column titled 3ata. A ma.imum of 1844 data points can be entered. +nly )hite cells )ill accept data. 0) 2nter the sub'group si,e and the upper and lo)er spec limits. Spec limits are necessary to perform capability calculations but are not re*uired. 5ote6 "f the data set is not evenly devisable by the sub'group si,e the remaining 7incomplete) sub'group is not displayed. 1) Chec! the 89nilateral8 chec! bo. if your data is one'sided 7such as -latness $oundness etc) and the Cp!:Pp! values )ill update accordingly. Readin the Results 1) The Sub'group column )ill automatically reflect the sub'group number associated )ith the data value. () The Point ; and 3ata columns reflect the calculated average and range 7or individual and moving range) displayed on the charts. 0) The SPC charts )ill automatically display the correct chart depending on the subgroup si,e. The ma<or header )ill identify "ndividuals charts versus % &ar Charts. 1) =hen a sub'group si,e of one is used the spec limits )ill be sho)n on the "ndividuals chart and the spec range sho)n on the $ange Chart. %'&ar Charts )ill not do this. /) The charts )ill automatically si,e themselves to fully display data sets less than 144 pieces. >) The SPC rules )ill display Pass or -ail and should be used to determine if your data is stable and in control. ?) The histogram )ill al)ays dra) a bell curve regardless of )hether or not the data is normally distributed. 8) A summary of the Process 3ata is displayed most of )hich are self e.planatory. The 9pper and @o)er Control @imits are calculated using the mean of the data and should not be confused )ith the SPC limits discussed belo). The normality analysis is performed using guidelines outlined by Aames 3ean &ro)n 9niversity of Ha)aii at #anoa as found in the Shi!en6 AA@T Testing B 2valuation S"C 5e)sletter 7http6::))).<alt.org:test:broD1.htm). A statement )ill appear based on these guidelines as to )hether the data is normal. S!e)ness and Eurtosis are not displayed. F) The %bar and $ 7or "ndividual and #oving $ange) limits are provided for implementing SPC on the floor. The limits are automatically centered around the nominal spec value. 14) The % #edian limits are also provided for implementing SPC on the floor. % #edian limits )ill not display )hen the sub' group si,e is e*ual to one. The limits are automatically centered around the nominal spec value. 2nd
