Progress:

It is difficult for me to leave Lehigh, and I would only consider a move for such an extraordinary opportunity. Its focus is a natural fit with my strengths. I look forward to helping shape Imperials next chapter.

Lehigh is beginning an exciting new chapter in its history. The soon to be launched capital campaign will strengthen Lehighs financial future. The realization of Mountaintop will take Lehigh to the next level of Future role in launch of Campaign excellence. The celebration of Lehighs sesquicentennial in 2015 will be a unique opportunity for Lehigh to honor its past and define its future. It is opportune for Lehighs next President to arrive at the start of this next chapter. As excited as I am about joining Imperial College London, there is much I will miss about Lehigh. One of the things that drew me to South Mountain is Lehighs commitment to its students. Each year I am struck by the personal and intellectual growth of our students over the course of their years here. I feel a special pride in their accomplishments. I will remember their hugs and handshakes at commencement and our many conversations at lunches, dinners and around campus. Lehigh is blessed with a faculty that excels in teaching and competes at a national level for research funding. I will always admire their dedication and energy and hold them up as examples for making the university experience so valuable and transformative for Lehigh students. Lehigh alumni are the institutional memory and conscience of this University. Their engagement and involvement provide our students with unique learning opportunities from Silicon Valley to China to Wall Street and around the world. Their generosity pushed Lehighs endowment above $1 billion, doubled Lehighs endowed scholarships and added over 750 acres to campus. They made the STEPS building, the redesign and reinvention of Mountaintop, Williams Hall and the Caruso Wrestling Complex into realities. I have learned a tremendous amount from our alumni and friends, and I greatly value my relationships with so many dedicated and passionate supporters. I know that their commitment to Lehigh will make it an even
