FINDING YOUR WHY STEP 1 TO FUNCHARTING LEADERSHIP

WHY does WHY Matter?

People do not buy into WHAT or HOW you do it, they buy WHY you do it. The most successful businesses / individuals across the globe that truly understand this have made such a huge difference in the world that they have amassed a following of loyal customers / fans that no one can ignore.

Mahatma Gandhi

Nelson Mandela
What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead. Nelson Mandela Highly controversial to some but a leader in courage and change nonetheless.

What Is The Point?

They are all agents of change! Leaders like Gandhi, Mandela, MLK & Mohammed Ali believe so strongly in their mission and that their mission is bigger than themthat they cannot help but to attract others. Their WHY is never rooted in fame or fortune (even if it is wonderful and plentiful) Their WHY is rooted in CHANGE.

What is the secret?

WHAT DO THEY ALL HAVE IN COMMON?

#funchartingleadership @imcijaye

Its Not About The Money

If they did it for fame or fortune it would not be authentic. PLUS: Making money and FAME are NOT a Why. Revenues, profits, salaries and other monetary / superficial measurements are simply results of what we do.

If the previous leaders did it for these things, they would not sustain their efforts.

#funchartingleadership @imcijaye

It Is About Beliefs Beliefs that: Fuel passion (WHY) Build communities Give others a voice Offer appreciation or rewards (often intangible or intrinsic) Instil trust Evoke CHANGE!

Think Act & Communicate From The Inside Out Leaders and organizations with the capacity to inspire
think, act and communicate from the inside-out.

#funchartingleadership @imcijaye

Its Not Logic; Its SCIENCE!

If you look at a cross-section of the human brain, what you see is that it is actually laid out in three major components that correlate perfectly with The Golden Circle. Our newest brain, our Homo-sapien brain, our neo-cortex, corresponds with the What level. The neo-cortex is responsible for all of our rational and analytical thought and language. The middle two sections make up our limbic brain. Our limbic brain is responsible for all of our feelings, like trust and loyalty. Its also responsible for all human behavior, all decision-making, and it has no capacity for language. #funchartingleadership @imcijaye

Science Prompts Behavior

When we communicate from the outside-in, though people can understand vast amounts of complicated information like features, benefits, facts and figures, it just doesnt drive behavior. When we can communicate from the inside-out, were talking directly to the part of the brain that controls behavior and decision-making, and then people rationalize their decisions with the neocortex.
