On the strength of knowledge built up from over 60 years experience in the power supply sector, Aros produces and develops a range of UPSs with applications for all industry sectors, eg:- health, IT, finance and transport.

Aros Staff and innovation For Aros, human resources are an asset to be cultivated. An ongoing training programme has been underway for some time now and this involves a series of courses held by technical experts at the company headquarters. The courses are aimed mainly at distributors and installers who can, in this way, be trained to provide an improved professional consultancy service to the end customer. Aros is a synonym for technological innovation, backed up by three advanced research centres where work is constantly carried out to produce innovative and state-of-the-art solutions. At the specific request of a customer, the Aros R&D centres can work on products that are already in production to adapt them to the customers particular requirements. As well as developing hardware technology, the R&D centres are at the cutting-edge of UPS software implementations through the proprietary Watch&Save software; the standard version of which is distributed on all UPSs.

For Aros, quality is a full-time commitment Aros worked for 13 years under the rigid IBM quality practices to achieve UNI EN ISO 9001 total quality certification in 1999. The certification body DNV first evaluated, approved and certified the internal quality manual, a veritable set of instructions to which all production processes must be submitted in order to ensure the constant high quality of Aros products. The UNI EN ISO 9001 total quality certification also covers the section dedicated to on-site and remote support service.

At the customers service UPService, a full customer service, is made up of a team technicians within Aros. A FreePhone number connects customers directly with a help desk that can respond to any question, carry out remote diagnostics and organize, via service centres located nationwide, on-site repairs, replacement under guarantee and start-up within 24 working hours. A 24 hour a day, 365 days a year support service has recently been set up with a technician constantly available by telephone (a sort of UPS guardian angel) who can respond to a customers call within 4 hours and a maximum of 8 hours. Aros has also developed a remote control system, Teleguard, for the control and monitoring of UPSs located anywhere in the world and connected via serial line, via network or via modem.

Sentry Multistandard UPS from 10 to 60kVA

Sentry Multistandard uses ONLINE double conversion (VFI) technology whereby the load is always powered by the inverter which ensures a filtered and stabilized sinusoidal voltage. Furthermore the input filters significantly increase the immunity of the load to mains noise and lightning. Multistandard is able to operate as an Eco Mode/Line interactive UPS too. Selection can be made manually or automatically. In automatic mode Multistandard uses the most efficient and costeffective way to protect the load, in accordance with the real-time conditions of the mains. When the mains is stable, Multistandard operates in Eco mode with the result of high energy saving and efficiency jumping to 98%. However, when the mains voltage and frequency fluctuate outside some present parameters, Multistandard switches instantaneously to On-line operation to provide total protection not only from mains failure, brownouts, sags, spikes but also from more subtle problems such as electrical noise and frequency instability.

Multistandard is furnished by an operator panel (built-in or remote) which provides clearly and timely information on operating status. Through specific functions the user can modify parametrers such as: nominal output voltage, accepted voltage/frequency range on bypass line during the On Line operation and/or Eco Mode operation, battery capacity. At the same time it can operate as frequency converter 50 Hz>>60Hz or viceversa. In this case the static bypass is automatically disabled by the microprocessor. The Multistandard diagnostics system includes a set of 128 system codes each corresponding to a specific condition, allowing a precise and detailed identification of any event.

Multistandard is also friendly to the mains because, thanks to its PFC (Power Factor Correction system), it absorbes mains current with almost power factor 1 and very low distortion. Multistandard represents a new benchmark in the Uninterruptible Power Supply world. its particulary suitable for small computer networks, Local Area Networks (LAN), servers, data centres, computer rooms and electro-medical, emergency and telecommunications equipment.

LCD display with LEDs

Located on the front of the unit, allows an easy and intuitive use of the UPS. It is used to read the most important electrical measurements in both input and output, it indicates the general UPS operating status and also signals faults and alarms.

2 RS232 communication ports

Enable direct communication between UPS and PC where, by means of the Watch & Save software, the various functions of the equipment can be controlled and managed.

EPO Emergency Power Off Connector

This contact is used to shut down the UPS and disconnect the load in an emergency (fire or fault)

An additional interface can be inserted in this expansion slot: a second RS232 or an SNMP interface for computer network communication.

Stand by-on
This transforms the UPS from On Line to Line Interactive, with the subsequent reduction of consumption and increase in efficiency.

Smart Active
With this function, it is the UPS itself that decides, on the basis of mains and applied load conditions, whether to operate On-Line, giving preference to load safety, or in Line interactive mode, for lower energy consumption.

Stand by-off
Allows the UPS to work, off-line, as a backup, with the advantage that the UPS does not have to be oversized to provide for peak current on load start-up.

Frequency converter
The UPS can be programmed to operate as a frequency converter with batteries, with 50 Hz input and 60 Hz output or vice versa. This can be selected via the mimic panel.

Active control Colour

Dark grey RAL 7024 (LCDR: Low Ripple Current Discharge) allows the control of the battery current even in the discharge phase, by limiting the AC components on the batteries (ripple at 50 and 100 Hz), which are damaging for the life of the batteries.

Wheels

Static by-pass
Zero time switch ensuring that the load is powered even in the event of a UPS failure due to overload or fault.

Battery Saving
This saves the batteries from excessive consumption, thus extending their lifetime. In the event of micro mains supply interruptions, the UPS draws energy directly from the capacitors.

Recharge compensated with temperature

This system ensures high battery efficiency and reduces ageing. Automatic and manual battery test Allows periodic checking of battery efficiency to avoid faults; this fast operation does not affect the lifetime of the batteries or the backup.

Back Feed Protection

This safety device is triggered in the event of a mains failure; it isolates the UPS from the input plug thus preventing voltage back feed on the line that could put the user at risk.

Deep discharge protection

This device increases the end of discharge voltage of batteries with low loads, ensuring in this way that the batteries are not damaged by deep discharges.

Watch & Save Aros proprietary software, compatible with the most common computer systems, allowing the management and control of the UPS from a PC, and in the event of a mains failure, it permits the saving of data and the sequential shutdown of the connected computer systems. Exactly the same as the standard display with LEDs on the UPS, it allows control and monitoring from a remote location.
Harmonic filters (3-phase models)

Placed inside the unit reduce the harmonics reflected towards the mains, to 5% and increase the input power factor to 0,99.

The standard UPS back-up time can be expanded by means of additional battery modules. When very high back-up time is required, battery expansion comes equipped with a battery charger to reduce recharging time.

Located on the by-pass line, its function is to create a UPS output system that is separate from the input power supply system. The output neutral is connected to earth thus improving noise protection.

System of connection used for distributed redundant parallel configurations of up to six units; the available power is increased and system reliability is enhanced. Teleguard Teleguard is a system for remote control of UPSs connected via serial line, via network or via modem.
