Christ the King Mission Statement
The People of Christ the King in Lombard are a welcoming, vibrant faith community building the kingdom of God through our many ministries. We celebrate our diversity, seeking to realize the gifts of each member of our parish, as we are all joined together under one faith, in a spiritual journey of evangelization, service to others, and a reverence for all life. In the Eucharist, we find new life, and bring this life to others through stewardship, education, and worship.

BREAK OPEN THE WORD MEETS THURSDAY MORNINGS

Do you want to understand the readings better before attending Mass? Have you ever had questions about the readings? Well, Break Open the Word is for you! We meet Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. in the East Room. At these informative meetings, with six to eight attendees, we discuss the readings and everyone has a chance to ask questions and voice their opinion. You dont need your Bible; we supply a copy of the readings. Please plan to join us. Please call Arsenio at 630-629-0915 for further information.

DEADLINE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION

Tuesday, February 18th is the deadline to register for the March 18th Illinois Primary Election. You can go to the public library, City Hall, or the Board of Elections to register in person. You can also register online by going to www.dupageco.org/election . If you will be age 18 before the general election in the fall or if you have changed your name or address since the last time you registered you will need to make those changes. You can find all the details at the website or call 630-4076500. Voting is a right and a privilege and is so critical in these perilous times. If you do not vote for individuals who share your values in the primary election then in the fall you will be stuck with people who dont share your values. Please make this a priority. Our military has fought and died to keep this right for us. Thank you.

Have You Noticed the New CDs in the Narthex?

Week #11 - St. Joseph: Patron of the Universal Church Inspiring speaker Fr. Larry Richards presents exciting and powerful insights into the history, spirituality, and biblical foundations of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. He opens the door for us to enter more profoundly into this most perfect prayer and unite our offering with that of the priest. This will change the way you experience this most sacred of all mysteries, the source and summit of our lives.

Thank You!
Many thanks to everyone for their help with the Baby Bottle Collection benefiting Womens Choice Services. Special thanks to all those wonderful parishioners who filled those bottles with their coins, checks, and prayers. Without your generosity, Womens Choice Services could not support the mothers and babies who need them. If you forgot to return your baby bottle, please bring it to Mass next weekend and hand the bottle to one of the ushers. Please do not leave the bottles in the rectory mail box, at the rectory, or on a counter at church. If you cannot afford to make a donation, we will gladly accept the empty bottles back also. Thanks so much! Janet Sipolt, Chairperson of Baby Bottles for Life

Guide Book Publishing

We have contracted with Guide Book Publishing to publish a Guide Book & Directory for our parish that will be updated and delivered directly to your homes annually. This book will be the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of Christ the King Parish. The book is being provided at no cost to the our parish. Local businesses are being solicited to advertise in the book. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call Eileen Maggiore at 630-396-6076 or email at eileen@ctklombard.org. Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It will pay to advertise in our new Guide Book & Directory.

THE 2014 CATHOLIC MINISTRIES ANNUAL APPEAL IS UNDERWAY TRUST IN THE FATHERS CARE
The 2014 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal begins with a mailing that many of our parishioners have received or will soon receive. This is a mailing from Bishop Conlon asking for a pledge to the 2014 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal. The Appeal not only funds many of the operations of the diocese, it funds services that are of great help to the ministries here in our parish. For example, God Is Retreat, Youth Ministry, Confirmation Retreat, Catholic Youth Bibles, Living the Eucharist, and Foundations of Faith Formation for Adults. This year, the theme of the Appeal is Trust in the Fathers Care. God does provide for us. He never forgets us. His love sustains each of us. He is always giving to us. His grace is always there for us. Do we trust in the Fathers care? Christ tells us that we cannot serve two masters. Do we acknowledge Gods gifts and show him our gratitude for them? One way that we can show our gratitude is by offering our generous financial support to our parish and to our diocese and to the Church throughout the world. The gifts we give enable ministries, education, and services that touch thousands of lives. Our parish goal is $ $55,236.00. With your support, we can reach and exceed this goal. When we exceed our goal in paid pledges, we will receive 60% of the amount over goal for use in our parish. Please answer Bishop Conlons request and make a generous pledge. All pledges can be paid in 10 installments. Thank you in advance for your support.

I want to be happy. I want to feel loved. I want more meaning in my life. I want to get more out of the Mass and other Sacraments. I want to better understand my Catholic faith. I want to feel more a part of my parish community.
. . . If any of these statements ring in your heart, please consider attending God Is! A One Day Journey Closer to God on Saturday Feb 22nd, 2014. During this dynamic single day of spiritual renewal presented by Evangelize All Ministries, you will be led on a journey closer to God discovering how to better embrace His love and His truth. And you will be given tools to help you in ongoing walk through life. The day begins with a continental breakfast at 8:30 AM and concludes with our regularly scheduled Saturday evening Mass at 5:00 PM. The suggested donation for this day is $20.00. All participants will receive breakfast and lunch and a year of inspirational and informative CDs or downloads from Catholic Lighthouse Media, NFP (a $72.00 value!). SAVE THE DATE FOR CHRIST THE KINGS ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH TABLE ON MARCH 16
Mark your calendars for Christ the Kings annual St. Joseph Table to be held Sunday, March 16, at 1 oclock in the Early Learning Academys Gymnasium. This parish-wide, family-oriented, community event is always loads of fun and is a wonderful opportunity to share food and companionship with family and friends and help those in need. This years proceeds will benefit the people of the Philippines and the people of Washington, Illinois, who were devastated by storms that hit their communities. We will be accepting donations of new or gently used items for our raffle baskets. You will also be able to sign up for the food item you would like to donate. Look for more information in future bulletins. If you would like to join the St. Josephs Table Committee, please give Mary Ellen Clish, St. Joseph Table Chairman, a call at 1-630-495-1339. Volunteers are always needed and more than welcome. We would like to share a short history of the St. Joseph Table for those who are unfamiliar with or new to the event. Following is that brief description. The table is a tradition of simple, usually meatless dishes, prepared and shared with neighbors and friends. Those attending offer a free-will donation and all the proceeds are given to the poor or a charitable organization. Sicilian/Italian families started this tradition. History tells us they prayed to St. Joseph to end a famine caused by drought. When their prayers were answered and it rained, the people showed thanks to St. Joseph by sharing their precious food with the poor. The menu typically included pasta, fish, eggs/omelets, bread and vegetables. The reason for this meatless tradition is believed to be the fact that the feast day falls during the Lenten season. There are special breads baked in crosses and other Christian shapes, which are displayed on the main table in the center of the celebration. The main table, usually in the shape of a cross or three-tier (to signify the Trinity), is decorated with flowers, a sample of each food item, candles and an image of St. Joseph. It is then blessed on the day of the event. The St. Josephs Table Committee

Dominican Sister Tells Her Story

Sister Tatiana, a Dominican Sister travels from Siberia to Christ the King Parish to share her Vocation Story and Sisters Call to Serve the Poor in Siberia. The Sisters' mission is among the poor and children from dysfunctional families. Sisters organize and lead a Day Care for the children, education program, summer retreats and provide food and clothing for them. Sisters do not earn any salary but live on from people's donations. If you would like to support our Sisters' Mission please come to the Mass on February 23rd at 8:00am; 10:00am and/ or Noon Mass. Thank you! Pay check to: Dominican Sisters, on Memo: Siberia. God bless you, Sr. Joachima Celinska, OP Phone: 708-458-3040 www.sistersop.com You have supported religious Sisters from Mexico, Philippines and now Siberia. We have experienced at Mass the commitment of one Religious Sister from the Joliet diocese for 54 years, another Sister 57 years who attended our CTK Mass. We have religious Sisters who served in our parish like Sr. Helen. Is there a young woman or even a high school girl or college, thinking about a vocation? Lets listen to the stories of the Dominican Sisters on February 23rd. Our generosity will assist the good Sisters to continue the work of Christ. Pray for vocations to the Religious Life as a Sister or Brother, like Br. Tom from Montini who attends our Liturgies. Fr. Peter frpeter@ctklombard.org

Thank you to all parishioners for your very generous contributions!
