Site Inventory Checklist

A. Site Location and Context 1. Identify the conditions and land uses on surrounding sides i) What types of land uses are there? - theme park, convention/assembly areas, open parks, parking areas, food center ii) What is the condition of surrounding sites? - Used as assembly areas for big events, leisure area iii) How heavily traveled are the nearby streets? - Roxas blvd. is the major road that holds most of the traffic. - Bukaneg st. is the most traveled street within the vicinity since the CCP, Harbor square, coconut palace and many other major structures are along it. It also serves as a path of the public utility vehicles used to travel from ocampo st. to Star city, PICC, CCP, etc. this st. is also used as alternative way to avoid heavy traffic on roxas blvd. - On atang de la rama st, traffic not too much since only a few vehicles use this. This street is the main course on going to the soffitel hotel. iv) When is the heaviest traffic? - on rush hours like 7:00am to 9:00am, 4:00pm to 6:00pm - on weekends. - on peak seasons like Christmas, holidays - when there are events within/close to the vicinity v) Is there a lot of traffic noise? - not much of it because its not a highly populated area and the vehicles that pass here do not blow horns oftenly, and the speed they use is not so fast because of humps. vi) Is there headlight glare from passing cars - Yes. There is still a lot of traffic at night because some establishments open until around 11pm. 2. Character of neighborhood i) Style, age, character, condition of nearby buildings - marcos style, bold, massive, bare, ii) Maturity of vegetation - Most of the plants reached the mature stage, mayayabong ang halaman, naalagaan ng mabuti iii) Feeling of area relaxed, cozy, maaliwalas 3. Patterns of vehicular circulation i) Road types - major, minor, diversion ii) Intensity and type of use (residential, commercial, etc.)

- Commercial, iii) Fluctuations due to time, season, day - During rush hours, holidays, events that are held within/near the site iv) Primary arrival point and means (bus, automobile, etc) - multi-cab type jeepneys, private vehicles, buses/service vehecles for field trips and tourist trips v) Location of bus stop - multi cabs drop most of its passenger along bukaneg st just beside ccp complex and harbor square. -no main bus/vehicular stop designated - a bus parking is provided beside harbor square B. Topography 1. Identify areas of wet ground - open parks/fields, fountain area on front of CCP complex, manila bay on the north-west side of the site C. Hydrology and Drainage 1. Identify drainage onto and off of site 2. Identify subsurface water conditions (height to water table, seasonal fluctuations) D. Soil 1. What is the soil type? 2. How deep is the topsoil layer? 3. How far down until bedrock is reached? 4. What is the rate of percolation? E. Vegetation 1. What vegetation exists? i) Species ii) Condition iii) Size iv) Color and seasonal variation 2. Locate vegetation on site F. Microclimate 1. Sun angles during year 2. What is the predominant wind direction? - north-east and south-west monsoons 3. Locate and identify shady areas - coconut palace has a number of trees that shade the area - most of the open areas have trees grown on it - every lot has vegetation planted and surrounds them 4. Locate and identify sunny areas 5. Identify areas protected from wind, summer sun -

G. Existing Building(s) 1. What is the architectural style? -CCP -PICC -Star City -Folk Arts Theater -Coconut Palace -Harbour Square -Ferry Terminal -Soffitel Hotel 2. How high are the existing buildings? - Structures in the harbor squre area are mostly 2 storeys high. - The CCP is around three storeys high - The PICC is a little shorter in height than CCP but is also three storeys high - Soffitel Hotel is more than 10-storeys high 3. What materials were used? - concrete, 4. What is the condition? - good, w/ proper maintenance 5. Where are doors and windows located? 6. Which doors are used the most? 7. Are there any good views out of the building? From where? - overlooking the bay on N-W area of site 8. Are there good views into the building? From where? 9. Should any of these views be enhanced or blocked? 10. How do people with disabilities move around the site and in/ out of buildings? - curb-cuts, sidewalks, ramps H. Other Existing Structures 1. Locate sidewalks, steps, ramps, fences, etc. 2. What is the condition? 3. How many steps? 4. How long of a ramp? What is the ramps slope? 5. Identify location and condition of any storage sheds. I. Utilities 1. Locate, determine height above (depth under) ground, type 2. Identify utility easements 3. Locate utility boxes, transformers, etc 4. Locate lights and their electrical lines

J. Views 1. Are there good views into/ out of site? -most structures are aesthetically pleasing. Good out of site view is the view into the Manila bay facing the sunset. i) Should they be taken advantage of? -Yes. Definitely. 2. Are there bad views? -none. i) Should they be blocked? 3. What are the views out from the building like? -The exhibit the wider streets within the site 4. Can the views be used in the design? -Yes. K. Site Functions 1. How is the site currently used? - convention/assembly, leisure 2. Who uses it? -general public 3. When is it used the most? The least? -All year round. PICC is used every Sunday because it hosts Religious groups and services. 4. Are there maintenance problems? -Salt waters vapor carry salt that can be harmful to structures. - At the present, some of the sidewalks are being re-paved. 5. Are there special areas that receive more wear and tear? - Areas facing the sea. Salt water takes a toll on metal. 6. How do people arrive at the site? What do they feel? - Most commuters come from Vito cruz via multicab jeepneys. Its a fairly no-fuss commute because commuters often get of in front of their destinations. 7. Are there safety hazards? (perpetual ice, cracked sidewalks, potholes, areas where children can trip on things, etc.) -There are security guards on the seaside to keep kids from getting too close to the edge and falling into the harbor. L. Existing Play Areas 1. Where do children play now? -Everywhere, Parking lots, star city, ccp complex 2. With what do they play? - Badminton, rides, bikes

3. Where is the existing equipment? 4. What is the condition (safe, needs maintenance, etc) of the existing play equipment? 5. Does the equipment or area meet current safety and accessibility standards? 6. Are the play areas supervisable? --yes
