Global Energy Forum 2013

Participant terms and conditions By submitting a paper for the Global Energy Forum, you agree to the following terms and conditions: a) In these terms and conditions (Terms), we and "Shell" refers to Shell Development (Australia) Pty Ltd (ACN 009 663 576) and its Affiliates refers to Royal Dutch Shell plc and any entity other than Shell which is, at the time in question, directly or indirectly controlled by Royal Dutch Shell plc. b) To submit a paper you must be a student (either full time or part time) at a university located in Australia. c) Papers must be submitted via email in either PDF or Word Document format to shellglobalenergyforum@edelman.com. Entries must be received by 5pm AEST, Wednesday, 25th September 2013. d) The covering email attaching your paper must set out: a. your full name; b. whether you are above the age of 18. If you are below the age of 18, you must confirm that you have sought parental consent to participate in the Global Energy Forum; c. your contact email address and phone number; d. the university you are currently enrolled at; e. the course you are currently studying; f. whether you are studying part-time or full time; and

g. your anticipated graduation year. e) Papers should be approximately 1000 words in length. You warrant that your paper is your own original work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights, including copyright, of any third party. f) You warrant that all personal information you provide is true and correct and that you meet the criteria set out in paragraph b) above. You consent to Shell contacting your nominated university in order to verify that you are a current student of the university.

g) We will review the submitted papers and contact those students who have been selected to attend an interview over the telephone to discuss their papers. On the basis of the papers and the interviews, we will select students to attend a Global Energy Forum to present their paper (Selected Students). Shell will choose the Selected Students (and the number of Selected Students, if any) at its sole discretion. Chance plays no part in the selection of the Selected Students. h) Selected Students attending university in:

a. Western Australia, South Australia or the Northern Territory will attend the Global Energy Forum in Perth, Western Australia on 14 October 2013; b. Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania or the Australian Capital Territory will attend the Global Energy Forum in Sydney, New South Wales on 17 October 2013. i) Each Selected Student will be presented with a Coles Group & Myer Gift Voucher (Gift Voucher) to the value of one thousand five hundred Australian dollars (AU$1,500) following their presentation to the applicable Global Energy Forum. Should a Selected Student fail to present their paper at the applicable Global Energy Forum, that Selected Student will forfeit their entitlement to the Gift Voucher. Information submitted by applicants will be used to select students to participant in interviews, to confirm their status as a student at their nominated university and may also be used by Shell for future Shell recruitment purposes. Your submission will be handled in accordance with our privacy policy available at http://www.shell.com.au/home/content/aus/footer/privacy_policy/.

k) Shell may, at its sole discretion, terminate, cancel, modify or suspend this opportunity at any time without compensation to any participant. l) Any and all costs, incidental or otherwise, incurred for or during a Selected Students participation in the Global Energy Forum will be borne solely by the Selected Student with the exception of the following costs which will be borne by Shell for Selected Students who need to travel interstate to attend their assigned Global Energy Forum: a. return transportation (bus, taxi, train or aircraft as determined by Shell) from your closest capital city (Adelaide, Darwin, Melbourne, Brisbane, Hobart or Canberra) to Perth or Sydney (as applicable see clause h) above), where applicable, flying economy class on an airline determined by Shell; b. 2 nights accommodation (provided that any room service or similar charges, will be the sole responsibility of the Selected Student); and c. return transport from the hotel to the location of the applicable Global Energy Forum. For the avoidance of doubt, a Selected Student attending university in Western Australia or attending university in New South Wales will be solely responsible for any costs he or she incurs in attending the Global Energy Forum. m) The opportunity to attend the Global Energy Forum and items provided to the Selected Students cannot be transferred, re-sold, auctioned or exchanged for cash. n) In the event that you become a Selected Student, you agree: a. to provide emergency contact details; b. to attend the applicable Global Energy Forum to present your paper; c. to adhere to all of Shells and its Affiliates Health, Safety, Security and Environment policies. Failure to do so may result in the termination by Shell of your participation in the Global Energy Forum without any prior notice or compensation;

d. that you will, to the maximum extent permitted by law, release Shell and its Affiliates, its and their employees, officers, institutions, and agents from and against all claims, losses, damages, costs (including legal fees), expenses and liabilities (including but not limited to any direct, indirect, consequential, special, punitive or incidental loss or damages) in respect of any personal injury, damage to health, financial loss or damage to property that you suffer, including any such injury, loss or damage whatsoever and howsoever caused, including negligence, arising from or relating to your participation in the Global Energy Forum; e. that you will, to the maximum extent permitted by law, be responsible for and will indemnify, defend and hold harmless Shell and its Affiliates, its and their employees, officers, institutions and agents from and against all claims, losses, damages, costs (including legal fees), expenses and liabilities (including but not limited to any direct, indirect, consequential, special, punitive or incidental loss or damages) in respect of personal injury, damage to health, financial loss or damage to property, including any such injury, loss or damage whatsoever that you case, which arises from or relates to your participation in the Global Energy Forum; f. for whatever reason you become unable to attend the applicable Global Energy Forum you must notify Shell as soon as practicable;

g. you consent to Shell and its Affiliates using your name, details of your current university and degree, your likeness, image and/or voice (including photograph, film, and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting the Global Energy Forum, for recruitment and other promotions by Shell or its Affiliates. o) Shell reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who Shell has reason to believe has breached any of these Terms, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the selection process. p) These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Western Australia.
