Specifies the adjusted value of the laser Check box scanner for setting the print position. The value is set from 0 to 9999. (The last 4 figures of the bar code label attached to the Gear plate calking Assy stand for the adjusted value of the laser scanner.) Among 4 figures mentioned above, the first 2 figures stand for the adjusted value of X and the last 2 figures stand for the adjusted value of Y. Each of the adjusted value is calculated by 50 and measured by 0.1mm. For example, when the adjusted value is 5248, (X, Y)=(52, 48) X=(52-50) *0.1=0.2mm Y=(48-50) *0.1=-0.2mm

Set Starter count Set Standard count

The maximum number of paged to be printed until indicating Toner Empty is different between the starter toner cartridge and the standard one. It is necessary to set the appropriate adjusted value for the toner cartridge installed in the printer. It is impossible to set both adjusted value of the toner cartridge. The error message appear and the standard toner cartridge setting is applied automatically.

Choose the printer port (connected to the printer) and the model name. Then, push the Read or Write button. Operation corresponding to each button will be performed. <Operation of Read> When the printer port and the printer name are chosen correctly, and the Read button is pressed, the data of NVRAM will be written out to the file. Example: When the temporary folder is C:WindowsTemp, and the model name is HL-7050, the file will be saved in C:WindowsTempHL-7050_NVRAM.inf. The window message as shown below will be displayed during the operation of Read.

During the operation of Read, the data transmitted from the printer is always checked whether it is damaged or not. When the data is damaged, the operation of Read is finished at the time and the file that contains the data will also be canceled. When all the data is written in the file, the data of the file will be checked again. If the error is found in the data at this stage, the file will be canceled again. The following window will be displayed at the time of completion of Read operation.

<Operation of Write> When you push the Write button, Data is read from the file at first. After that, the data will be written out to NVRAM. Then, the contents of NVRAM will be compared to the contents of the file to check whether the data was written out correctly. The file which will be used during the operation of Write is chosen from the temporally folder automatically. (The name of the file contains the model name.) When the selected file agrees with the model which is connected, the data will be read from the file. Then, it starts to write out the data to NVRAM. If the file with the name corresponding to the connected printer does not exist, the operation of Write will end in the ERROR. The window message as shown below will be displayed during the operation of Write.

After writing the data to the printer is completed, the data of the file and the data of NVRAM will be compared.

When nothing wrong with the data, the window as shown below will be displayed, then the data file will be eliminated.

When something wrong with the data, the error message as shown below will be displayed. In this case, elimination of the file and re-writing to NVRAM will NOT be operated automatically.

<NOTES to the Read/Write NVRAM function> * When you write out the data from file to NVRAM, the serial number will not be changed unless the printer is turned on again. * When the operation of Read/Write ends in the ERROR, please do the next job after rebooting the printer.

2-5:Send->Read data
By this function, it is possible to send any data file to the device and save the data received from the device into any folder. This function is added in order to cover the unsupported configuration information by using the existing functions. There is a restriction on the data size of sending and receiving. (Each of them is up to 4 kilo byte.) (From Version 2.51) There is no restriction on the data size of sending and receiving.) Also, it is necessary to confirm the selected model when performing this function.

<Operation> If Send->Read data is chosen from the menu of the main window, the following window will appear.

Select the port connected to the device, and specify the full path of a file you want to send to the device by clicking the Browse or inputting directly. Next, select the model connected to the PC from a model list. This function is available for all of models listed as Object model on page 1.

By clicking the OK button, the selected file is sent and the readback data from the device is received.

If the process of receiving is done, the following dialogue for specifying the destination to save the receiving data will display.

3. ERROR
When some problems occur in the operation, the error message will be displayed. The main errors and their cause are as follows.
