Curriculum specs: 1.0 LANGUAGE FOR INTERPERSONAL USE 1.1 making friends and keeping friendships by (Level 1) a. talking about self, family and friends, interests, past events, feelings, personal experience and understanding when others talk about themselves. b. exchanging ideas, information and opinions on topics of interest.

Behavioural objective: SWBAT; 1. Describe their friends personality in written by using at least 2 descriptive adjectives presented by the teacher. 2. Orally share and talk about their friends personality traits with peers using appropriate descriptive adjectives. Moral values and educational emphases: Friendship Self-confidence Contextualised learning (relevant and meaningful for practicing language items) Communicative Competence (group work; information gap)

Anticipated problems/solutions: 1. Students might describe their friends negatively and inappropriately/Teacher needs to ensure students are in a good conduct and highlights the value of friendship in the lesson. 2. The new students may not be able to give accurate description about their friends / Teacher emphasises that the description must be on the first impression basis and not based on their natural traits. Previous knowledge: Students are familiar with the use of basic adjectives such as kind, nice, ugly, shy etc. Materials: 16 blank flashcards, a large-sized polystyrene Instagram frame, flashcards related to adjectives, a box containing names of the students, 16 copies of descriptive adjectives list and 16 copies of task note (practice).

4. Students write their responses on the blank flash cards and paste the cards on the Describe Me wall. 5. Teacher reads a few responses and asks the class whether they think the adjectives really reflect the teachers real personality or vice versa. 6. Teacher leads to lesson proper. 1. Teacher draws a table containing positive and negative adjectives on the whiteboard. 2. Teacher asks students to fill in the table by categorising the adjectives they wrote into either positive or negative boxes. 3. Teacher tells students to identify any unfamiliar adjectives. 6. Teacher puts up a large Instagram frame and acts out or demonstrates the unfamiliar adjectives to the class. 1. Students individually write their responses on the Worksheet.

Production

Describe-MeSession: 1. Student calls out the name of the person written on the secret card. 2. The described person need to come forward and sits in the Instag frame. 3. The student reads his or her description to the class.

1. Teacher asks students to hold onto the worksheet and secret cards and asks them to form a circle. 2. Teacher tells students that they will begin the Describe-Me-Session and explains the rule of the game. 3. Teacher randomly selects a student to start the game. 4. The game is repeated until everyone gets a turn (if time permits) or after a few round, students return the described worksheet to the person in the secret card. 5. Teacher asks students to share the responses they got with the class and their opinions based on the descriptions given.

4. The class gives opinions whether they agree with the description or vice versa. 5. The described person will decide whether the description fits himself / herself or not. 1. Teacher makes note of the idiom Dont judge a book by its cover. 2. Teacher explains that sometimes first impression can be deceptive and that it does not wholly reflect the persons personality. 3. Teacher emphasizes that students should not rely on first impression judgements and that they should get to know or approach the person before judging or personally describing/labelling them.
