Listening Posts Pastor David hopes to have conversations with any St John's members who would like some time to share whatever you may choose. These conversations are called Listening Posts, and allow for people to share their feelings in the confidential setting of the pastors office. Other than a few questions that Pastor David will ask everyone who comes to visit, this time is one where your hopes, concerns, dreams and insights might be shared with him in a free fashion. These times slots are for thirty minutes each, and are suggested for one person or family group at a time. These conversations will help Pastor David to learn about St Johns in a less than formal manner: hopefully these conversations will be a help to members who desire to speak with Pastor David through a confidential time of conversation. Pastor will have a sheet with times at the office. Please contact the office to make a Listening Post appointment!

We are in need of coffee again! We will be accepting donations at the church office during regular office hours, 8am 5pm. Thank you!

Thank you to Leona Bargstadt, Alaire Anderson, Naoma Ronnfeldt, Carol Sorsen, Iva Thelander and Carol Severa for attending the "Quilting Day" at St. John's last Thursday. Ten quilts were tied and many squares were cut for future quilts. It was a fun day and the food was delicious. You need to plan to attend the next time we have 5 Thursdays in a month, which will be May 29th.

STEPHEN MINISTERS: The After People People often ask, What exactly is a Stephen Minister? One way to put it is that Stephen Ministers are the After People. . . . after the phone call you hoped youd never get. . . . after the divorce papers are served and the bottom falls out of your life. . . . after the funeral, when everyone has left and the emotions youve held at bay come crashing in on you. . . . after the doctor says, Im sorry, but theres nothing more we can do. . . . after the nursing home director shakes your hand and says, Welcome to your new home. . . . after the last child honks the horn, waves, and drives awayand the house seems suddenly empty. . . . after the gavel does down, the handcuffs go on, and your loved one is led away. . . . after the baby arrives, demanding more of you than you ever dreamed possible. . . . after you find a pink slip with your final paycheck. . . . after your family and friends have heard your story one too many times, but you still need to talk it out. Stephen Ministers are the After People. They are ready to come alongside you and provide comfort and support for as long after as needed.

Adult Inquiry Class Are you interested in becoming a member at St. Johns Lutheran? Or, would you like to sit in for a quick refresher of the faith? Starting on Feb. 2, and running through the Sundays of February (9, 16, 23), an Adult Inquiry Class will be held between the services, starting at 9:50 in the Bethany Room. We will talk about Jesus, the Bible, the Grace of God and even Martin Luther. No sign up is needed-but we hope you will put this on your calendar. For those seeking membership, this is our first membership class in 2014.

Ducks, Ducks and more Ducks? The grades 5-6 Sunday School Class will host Coffee Hour on February 9. Simultaneously there will be some baked items to take home free will offering. All funds raised will go to Lutheran World Relief to purchase ducks for farmers in the Philippines. Ducks fertilize the rice fields, eat bugs and weeds that harm the rice, and also provide eggs and meat for income. With the typhoon devastation in November, 2013, there is a great need. Donation buckets will be placed near exits after both services. Thanks for your support.
