! Pythagoras was a Greek mathematician in 580 - 500 B.C. Pythagoras had many scientic and mathematical discoveries. His most famous discovery was the Pythagorean Theorem. But his other discoveries were also astounding and valuable like the Pythagorean Theorem. For example Pythagoras found the that sounds and their relationships with other sounds can be accounted for by using numbers. Pythagoras also thought that the planet earth, the moon and the sun were spheres, which seemed crazy at the time. Pythagoras was not only a mathematical thinker but he was an outside of the box thinker.

Who is Pythagoras?

The Pythagorean Theorem

13 + 13 = C X 13 169 + 169 = 338 338 = 18 C = 18 13 15 25 C = 25 - A = 15 = B 625 - 225 = 20 20 = 4.5 B = 4.5

17 + 17 = C X 17 289 + 289 = 578 578 = 24 C = 24 17 72 78

C = 78 - B = 72 = A 6084 - 5184 = 900 900 =20 A = 20

! The Pythagorean Theorem is a right angled triangle that has two legs and one hypotenuse. The hypotenuse is the biggest side of triangle, while the other legs may vary in sizes. But in order to nd the hypotenuse of right triangle if it is not given to you you must square the legs, add them up and then nd the square root of the product to nd the hypotenuse. But if the hypotenuse has already been given in an equation and the size of one leg is missing, then you must square the hypotenuse and remaining leg, subtract them and nd the square root of the difference.
C =A + B
C A

A=C-B B = C -A
