Business English Training / Dragados

(Intermediate to Advanced-Intermediate)

! Afternoon Classes: Tue 17:00-19:00 / Fri 16:00-18:00 (4hr x wk) - will follow the programme below

! Saturday Classes: Sat 9-12 (3hr x wk) - will include supplementary material on idiomatic expressions,
grammar and stylistics, as well as role-play and language practice.

Course Description:
Study methods of communication for business situations, emphasis on writing for business, effective
presentations, and other communicative strategies for business.

Objectives:
• Increase student’s working vocabulary of business terms
• Increase student’s knowledge of business communication concepts
• Use appropriate language to complete numerous activities related to various aspects of business such as:
- Telephone Conversations
- Presentations
- Meetings
- Writing emails
- Writing letters

Teaching and learning methods:


The assigned texts will function as a basic course syllabus. Students will complete the listening, speaking,
reading and writing exercises in class demonstrating their mastery of target terms and vocabulary related to
various aspects of business
communication.

Assignments: In-class activities and outside reading. All homework to be assigned.

Evaluation:
Short quizzes will be assigned after completion of unit topics when needed; larger tests will follow completion of
3 unit topics.

Grading Scale:
A 80-100% B+ 75-79% B 70-74% C+ 65-69% C 60-64% D+ 55-59% D 50-54% F 0-49%
