LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING: (Ezekiel 36: 25 - 28) A Reading from the book of the prophet Ezekiel I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts. I will put my spirit within you and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees. You shall live in the land I gave your fathers: you shall be my people, and I will be your God. The Word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God

RESPONSORIAL PSALM:
Psalm 104: 1, 24, 29-30,31,34
Psalm for the Holy Spirit

R:

Lord, send out Your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.
1. Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are great indeed! How manifold are you works, O Lord! The earth is full of your creatures. R: 2. May the glory of the Lord endure forever, May the Lord be glad in his works! Pleasing to Him be my theme, I will be glad in the Lord. R: 3. If you take away their breath, they perish And return to their dust. When you send forth your spirit they created, And you renew the face of the earth. R:

SECOND READING: (Romans 5: 1 2, 5 8) From the letter of Paul to the Romans Now that we have been justified by faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have gained access by faith to the grace in which we now stand, and we boast of our hope for the glory of God. And this hope will not leave us disappointed, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. At the appointed time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for us godless men. It is rare that anyone should lay down his life for a just man, though it is barely possible that for a good man someone may have the courage to die. It is precisely in this that God proves his love for us: that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The Word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL: (John 15:18-21, 26-27) From the Holy Gospel according to John Jesus said to his disciples: If you find that the world hates you, know it has hated me before you. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own; the reason it hates you is that you do not belong to the world. But I chose you out of the world. Remember what I told you: no slave is greater than his master. They will harry you as they harried me. They will respect your words as much as they respected mine. All this they will do to you because of my name, for they know nothing of him who sent me. When the Paraclete comes, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father and whom I myself will send from the Father he will bear witness on my behalf. You must bear witness as well, for you have been with me from the beginning. The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

HOMILY PROFESSION OF FAITH: I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
At the words that follow, up to and including the Virgin Mary, all bow.

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Consecration of the Bread and Wine

Priest: The mystery of faith. All: We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.
He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and, raising both, he says:

Priest: Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever. All: Amen.

COMMUNION RITE
Priest: At the Saviors command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say: All : Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Priest : Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by
the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

All : For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

SIGN OF PEACE
The Priest, turned towards the people, extending and then joining his hands, adds:

Priest : The peace of the Lord be with you always. All : And with your spirit.
Then, if appropriate, the Deacon, or the Priest, adds:

Priest : Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

Lamb of God
Then he takes the host, breaks it over the paten, and places a small piece in the chalice, saying quietly:

May this mingling of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ bring eternal life to us who receive it.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
The Priest genuflects, takes the host and, holding it slightly raised above the paten or above the chalice, while facing the people, says aloud:

Priest : Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
And together with the people he adds once:

All : Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word
and my soul shall be healed. Communion
Then, standing at the altar or at the chair and facing the people, with hands joined, the Priest says:

Priest : Let us pray.

All pray in silence with the Priest for a while, unless silence has just been observed. Then the Priest, with hands extended, says the Prayer after Communion, at the end of which the people acclaim:

All : Amen.
