COMMISSIONING, MAINTENANCE, LUBRICATING PRODUCTS

1. Commissioning of conveyor belts

1.1 When the assembly is finished the conveyor belt must be cleaned. Foreign matters such as tools and wood must be removed. 1.2 The driving drum, tension drum, upper belt, support roller stations and back running rollers must be checked by means af a shifting square or meter rod as to the right angle assembly. 1.3 Inspection of the gear oil filling (see item 3 Lubrifiants) 1.4 Check the sense of rotation of the motor. Thereby, it is sufficient to tipe shortly on the switching on button thereby it is recommended that there is radio or sight contact between the switching center and the personnel at the motor. 1.5 When the starting coupling is built-in it must be checked that it is filled accordingly with the following lubricating oil and/or oil list. 1.6 Check the emergency OFF pull cord lines as to their function. 1.7 Check the starting signal as to its function(horn or hooter signal). 1.8 When making the test trial of the conveying belt, in accordance with the length of the belt conveyor, there should be one or several persons along the belt in order to take note immediately of eventual disturbances. When all positions from 1.1 to 1.7 have been observed correctly there cannot be any untrue running or only a slight untrue running of the belt. 1.9 Belt pretension In case there are spindle tension stations, the pretension of the belt must take place by tensioning the tension spindles. Thereby, one must take care that when tensioning the belt passage in the lower carying run between the supporting rollers is still of about 1 - 2 cm. Caution! When taking a new belt into service, one must take care at which time of the day the belt tensioning takes place. Temperature differences between the morning and the middle of the day must be taken into consideration. A belt which is tensioned in the morning must be retensioned at 12,00 a.m. According to the load of the conveyor the belt pretension must be checked daily during about 4 weeks.

For weight tensioning stations, a retensioning of the belt is not necessary.

1.10 Off-track running adjustment of the belt: The off-track adjustment of the belt is only performed with the upper belt roller

station and/or back running rollers. When correcting the belt, one must always stand in direction of the belt running, when adjusting the under bet one must stand in the according direction. When the belt is running in its conveying direction towards the left, then on the side 2 - 3 rollers before the running-off, 3 - 4 rollers must be shifted by about 2 - 3 mm in direction of the belt running. When the belt runs towards the right, then one proceeds inversely.
