Vicars Message on Lent
It is time to celebrate Lent
During Lent we learn how much God loves us and how
we can learn to love God and people better. How do we
do this? Only by getting closer to Jesus. He teaches us
how to be more loving and how to be more like him.
We get closer to Jesus by praying and by being kind to
others, even if it means giving up something we want
or doing something that is hard. Then at the end of
Lent, we celebrate Jesus resurrection from the dead on
Easter Sunday. When he gave his life for us and rose
from the dead, the power of his love opened the gates
of heaven for us, so we can be happy with Jesus forever.
CCD News
* March 2, 2014: Meeting of the parents of
students receiving Holy Communion at
9.40 am in the Alphonsa Hall.
* March 2, 2014: picture day for the students
receiving the Holy Communion. Photos of the
students will be taken to display at the church
hall. Pictures will be taken during the Sunday
school class hours. Please make every effort to
send your child to the Sunday school on this
day.
* Retreat for parents of 3rd grade students and
reconciliation for students: Saturday,
March 15, 2014 (Please note the change in
date from previously announced)
* Bible bases Jeopardy competition to be
conducted on Saturday: March 22, 2014.
Ward officials please give the names in your
team (five members per team) to the CCD
office by March 02, 2014. There is no age
limit for the participant; anybody from KG to
12 could participate. Topics: Acts of Apostles,
Chapters 14-28 (50%); Liturgy and Church
History (25%); Syro-malabar Church (25%)
* Retreat for Students of grade 7th and 8th in
Cabrini Retreat Center: March 28-30. This is
mandatory for all students. Registrations are
due by February 23rd. Contact your childs
class teacher for details.

* Today we begin the season of Lent. Tomorrow we will have Ashes distribution for Masses at
8.30 am and 7.00pm
* Lent season retreat will be held on April 3, 4, 5 and 6 2014.
* There will be a pilgrimage to Holy Hill, Wisconsin on April12, 2014. CYM will make necessary
arrangements for this annual event
* Marriage preparation classes will be held on March 7,8and 9th.
* Retreat for parents and 3rd grade students: Saturday, March 15, 2014
* Parents of First Holy Communion students please meet today after 8.00 am Mass in the Alphonsa Hall.
* Retreat for Students of grade 7th and 8th in Cabrini Retreat Center: March 28-30. Retreat for parents of 7th and 8th
grade students: Saturday March 29, 2014 in the church.
* Malayalam Varam competitions will be held today during the class time.
* During the time of Lent we will have Stations of the Cross prayers when we gather for Ward prayers instead of
Rosary prayers. No ward prayers will be held during Fridays in Lent season
* Every year we arrange a pilgrimage to Velamkanni Matha Oratory in Washington DC. This year it will be on
May 31st Saturday.
* Our annual family Renewal convention will be held on J une 12th through 15th 2014. Fr J acob Manjaly
* A pilgrimage to Madjugorie and Rome is planning from September 29th through October 10th
* Next Friday is First Friday. There will be Night Vigil after 7.00 pm Mass and Stations of Cross.
