Controller, Education Achievement Authority of Michigan Responsible for the finance department operations including budgeting ($116 million dollars), accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, employee benefits, grants and auditing. I supervise three people in the department. (05-13 to present) Chief Financial Officer, Lincoln Park Public Schools Responsible for all aspects of finance (benefits, budgeting, cash flow analysis, grant reporting, investments, purchasing (final approver), payroll, accounts receivable/payable, risk management, rental of facilities, arbitrage reporting and both internal and external audits). I eliminated a $7.6 million dollar projected deficit in two years. I also supervise directors of food service, technology, and maintenance/operations along with the direct contact for special education transportation (Trinity Transportation). Responsible for all aspects of finance (budgeting, cash flow analysis, grant reporting, investments, purchasing, payroll, accounts receivable/payable, risk management, rental of facilities, arbitrage reporting and both internal and external audits). Also responsible for overseeing food service (Chartwells), human resources for contracted employees, technology, transportation (Trinity Transportation), maintenance/operations and bond construction work for the district. WORK EXPERIENCE CONTINUED: Supervisor of Business/Warehousing, Wayne-Westland Community Schools Responsible for all purchasing, warehousing, accounts payable, liability insurances and fixed assets for the district. Supervised eight employees directly. Prepared audit schedules related to above responsibilities. Initiated administrative and board policy changes in the areas of accounts payable, purchasing, use of facilities, disposal of school supplies and equipment. Worked closely with building administrators and staff on a daily basis. (10/00 03/03) Finance Coordinator, Construction, Huron Valley School District Supervised investment of $51,000,000 bond issue proceeds, resulting in $2,600,000 in additional interest income. Created and managed capital project accounts (16 separate building budgets). Approved all bond-related purchases, payments, made expenditure transfers and budget amendments. Supervised the construction manager and architect. Made presentations to the board of education, apprising them of construction updates and financial information. Worked closely with building personnel, operations, and maintenance and banking officials. (9/96-7/28/00) Secretary to the Supervisor of Finance, Huron Valley School District Maintained positive cash flow in all bank accounts. Secured quotes and made necessary money transfers for the investment of school state aid. Spread property tax monies and generated accounts receivable invoices for district.
