Action Needed. Build Website.

(Website Construction)

Action Taken. I have started to build my website and will continue to add to it during my PGCE year. I have completed the online module, signed the ICT pledge and added appropriate pages to my website. I did not have the opportunity to teach a lot of discrete ICT lessons during GPP, but I learnt a lot about using ICT in the classroom. Interactive whiteboard workshop. Use of the interactive whiteboard daily during GPP. I taught lessons that can be classed as computing unplugged lessons, teaching children to compose and follow algorithms, however I did not have the opportunity to use ICT equipment for coding/programming. I have had the opportunity to read over the national curriculum for ICT.

Reflective Comments after GPP. Now I have begun to build a website I am gaining confidence in this area and I am attempting to increase the difficulty of the things I am doing with the website, e.g. adding videos and embedding. The online module was comprehensive and helpful; I have now realised how important it is to teach children to be safe on the internet.

Complete E-safety module and update website accordingly.

Record instances of ICT that I come across in University-based and school sessions.

I am hoping I will have the opportunity to teach ICT during FPP.

Interactive whiteboard/projector systems.

Coding/programming.

I am now far more confident in using the interactive whiteboard having reinforced what I learnt in the workshop daily during GPP. I now know how to use the whiteboard during teaching input and to set up activities for groups of children. I will now try coding/programming using ICT equipment in order to build my confidence in this area. However, because my confidence in my own pedagogical knowledge is higher, I am feeling less anxious about this and I am hoping I will have the opportunity to incorporate this into my teaching during FPP.

Cover the programmes of study of the national curriculum for ICT.

Identify and detail the resources, software/hardware to support the lessons. Database.

I used ICT to plan and find resources for lessons.

I have not had the opportunity to teach or

Being in a transition phase between the old national curriculum for ICT and the new curriculum for computing I believe that it would be more beneficial for me to become familiar with the new curriculum. However, I realise that if my FPP school are still using the old curriculum I will have to follow this. I am feeling much more confident in this area as I have realised that this is something that teachers do every day when they are planning lessons; something that I hadnt realised or appreciated before GPP. This is something I am willing to explore in my own time as I believe it will be difficult to link this to

use databases during GPP. I have not had the opportunity to teach or use spreadsheets during GPP. I have looked at blogs that have been set up but have not yet had the opportunity to create my own. I contributed to the university childrens book Wiki. I used the internet and ICT daily to locate and adapt resources. I mainly used paperbased methods of recording assessments and progress but I have seen how admin systems can be used. I used the internet and ICT daily to support teaching.

learning in Key Stage two, however I may find that the opposite is true. Being in Key Stage two for FPP, I believe I will be able to incorporate spreadsheets into maths lessons. I intend to create my own blog during FPP, my search for a job and into my NQT year.

I now realise how easy it is to create or contribute to a Wiki and will contribute again during FPP. I am feeling extremely confident in this area as I have built up a bank of useful websites for resources and lesson ideas. I am feeling much more confident in this area as I have realised that this is something that teachers do every day when they are planning lessons; something that I hadnt realised or appreciated before GPP. I am feeling much more confident in this area as I have realised that this is something that teachers do every day when they are planning lessons; something that I hadnt realised or appreciated before GPP. This is something I would like to explore much more during FPP as ICT equipment was limited in my GPP school. I have decided to choose the inclusion pathway so I will be able to observe the use of ICT during that placement.

Effective use of ICT to support teaching and learning.

Effective use of ICT to teach ICT elements of the other core and foundation curriculum subjects. Effective use of ICT to improve learning of able children and those with special educational needs.

I have not had the opportunity to explore this during GPP. The children who were classed as SEN in my GPP class were able to access ICT with the other children, so this is an area I did not explore in-depth. I was able to allocate ICT equipment to small groups in my class and found suitable games and tasks for them to do. I used ICT equipment mainly during teacher input in most of my

How to organise and manage group work.

I have realised during GPP that using ICT with small groups can motivate and engage children. It is important to check the suitability of the games the children are playing and always make sure they are appropriate for the learning objective. Although I used ICT during most inputs I had very little opportunity to approach the whole class teaching of ICT itself, This is something I would

lessons. How to organise ICT equipment to allow pupils access. I was able to allocate ICT equipment to small groups in my class and found suitable games and tasks for them to do. I did not have the opportunity to teach many ICT lessons and therefore could not assess the childrens ICT skills or progress comprehensively. I was able to allocate ICT equipment to small groups in my class and found ability appropriate games and tasks for them to do. Although I have not studied this in detail I have had exposure to copyright regulations and now feel much more confident.

like to develop during FPP. I am enthusiastic about the prospect of being able to use more ICT equipment during FPP as resources were limited in my GPP school.

Identifying where they need extending and supporting.

I feel much more secure in my pedagogical knowledge and as a result feel like I would be more confident in planning ICT lessons and adapting lessons to ensure progression.

Determining how group work may affect pupil capability.

I feel confident in using ICT equipment with small groups but now need to find appropriate websites for Key Stage two resources.

Copyright regulations.

I will continue to learn as I go with regards to copyright regulations, however I feel much more secure in this area.
