Write this to Ephesus, to the Angel of the church. The One with Seven Stars in his right-fist grip, striding through the golden seven-lights circle, speaks: 2-3 I see what youve done, your hard, hard work, your refusal to quit. I know you cant stomach evil, that you weed out apostolic pretenders. I know your Chorus persistence, your courage in my cause, that Love lifted me, love lifted me, you never wear out. When nothing else could help, 4-5 But you walked away from your Love lifted me. Love lifted me, Love lifted me, When nothing first lovewhy? Whats going on with you, else could help, Love lifted me. anyway? Do you have any idea how far youve fallen? A Lucifer fall! Turn back! Recover your dear early Verse 2 love. No time to waste, for Im well on my All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him Ill cling in His blessed presence live, way to removing your light from the golden Ever His praises sing. Love so mighty circle. And so true merits my souls best songs; -----------------------------He your Savior want to be be saved today. 11:00 a.m.
Verse 1
Almighty and Most Merciful Father, we come before You, acknowledging our sins, our shortcomings, and our breaking of our Covenant with You. Not only have we done things we ought not to have done, said things we ought not to have said, left undone so many things we ought to have done and been silent when we should have witnessed for You. Not only are we guilty of that, O Lord; but we have also closed our eyes and pretended not to see the injustices, the racism and the evil which pervade our everyday lives. We have shut our ears and pretended not to hear the cries for liberation which come from the lips, lives and hearts of the oppressed even our own Black brothers and sisters! Forgive us, O Lord, renew our courage and faith, and keep us ever mindful of Thy great sacrifice. Hear us, we beseech Thee, as we come to You in love and worship giving Your Name the praise forevermore. ****** To All Our Visitors ... To all who mourn and need comforting ... To all who are friendless and want friendship ... To all who are oppressed and need liberation; and to whosoever will come, Trinity opens its doors. Thank you for coming, and may God bless you.
This is what you must write to the angel of the church in Ephesus: I am the one who holds the seven stars in my right hand, and I walk among the seven gold lampstands. Listen to what I say. 2 I know everything you have done, including your hard work and how you have endured. I know you wont put up with anyone who is evil. When some people pretended to be apostles, you tested them and found out that they were liars. 3 You have endured and gone through hard times because of me, and you have not given up. 4 But I do have something against you! And it is this: You dont have as much love as you used to. 5Think about where you have fallen from, and then turn back and do as you did at first. If you dont turn back, I will come and take away your lampstand.

Fasting
Fasting for the Lenten Season
This year, God has called us to Raise Leaders and Develop Disciples. I am calling a church-wide fast this Lenten season. Fasting is a spiritual discipline designed to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ. We do not fast to lose weight; we fast to be empowered by Jesus Christ. This year 2013, God will reveal Gods purpose and plan in your life if you dare fast, pray, study and learn the power of quiet time. Jesus had to steal away from the crowd and spend time with his Father in the mountains, to pray, study, reflect, meditate and center his spirit. If fasting and prayer were the disciplines of Jesus, should not this be followed by us? Join with us this season and witness a breakthrough as we fast, pray, study, reflect, meditate and learn the power of quiet time. Question: I have never fasted before? Answer: Consult your doctor first!* Fasting is not the removal of all food from your diet. Fasting is learning to discipline your mind, body and spirit to remove something you know hinders your ability to function at your highest capacity, from your life or diet. Question: Is fasting biblical? Answer: Fasting is biblical. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, fasting was used by the people of God to prepare for a spiritual challenge, hear Gods voice before making a major decision, and for removing destructive forces in your life. Fast #1 - Fasting to confront destructive forces March 5 March 11 Eat all your meals before 6:00 p.m. March 12 March 18 Eat only two meals before 6:00 p.m. March 19 March 25 - Eat only one meal a day before 6:00 p.m. March 26 April 1 Drink only juices, water and/or tea April 2 April 8 Eat only fruits and vegetables before 6:00 p.m. April 9 April 20 Slowly begin to add meat to your diet Fast #2 The Daniel Fast (Taken from the book of Daniel). When Daniel was captured by the Babylonians, he asked of the Babylonians if he, along with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, could fast eating only fruits and vegetables so they would be prepared to confront the Babylonian king. March 5 March 11 Eat all meals before 6:00 p.m. March 12 March 18 Eat only two meals a day before 6:00 p.m. March 19 March 25 Eat only fruits and vegetables before 6:00 p.m. March 26 April 1 Eat one meal a day before 6:00 p.m., meat may be added. April 2 April 8 Eat two meals a day before 6:00 p.m., meat may be added April 9 April 20 Eat three meals a day before 6:00 p.m. Fast #3 - Removing certain foods or items from your diet or life. One type of fasting is to remove certain foods from your diet, such as fried foods, sweets, sodas or refined sugar and/or flour.
*Please seek the advice of your primary care provider/ doctor before beginning a fast that involves restricting food/calories and/or medication. Your doctor can help you design a fasting plan that protects your health and well-being. This is extremely important if you are pregnant or have a medical condition. Medical condition examples include, but are not limited to those who have a chronic disease such as diabetes, HIV/AIDS, hypertension, heart disease, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, recent surgery, etc.

This Sunday we thank God for his provision as we have crossed an important threshold in our Raise the Roof Campaign. As of February 26th, we have received pledges exceeding $4
Million!
RAISE THE ROOF
We are now over 80% of our goal of $5 million as 983 of our members and families have committed to the vision that God placed with our Pastor, to rebuild our roof and key infrastructure in a way that is consistent with our theology of great stewardship of this earth that has been given to us. Of course, we are not done yet, and If you have not made your pledge to the Raise the Roof Campaign, now is a great time. As we celebrate March with our 1st Annual Trinity UCC March Madness Stewardship Conference, wouldn't it be great to end the month having achieved our $5M goal. We can do it, but only with your help. Stay Informed. Visit the Raise the Roof web site: www.raisetheroofcampaign.org.

HAPPY RETIREMENT!
Mr. Larry McAllister, one of our 5-Star Team members, retired on February 28, 2014, after over 17 total years of service. Prior to joining the Trinity UCC team, Mr. McAllisters early career found him at McCormick Place where he started as a bus boy and within two months, he secured his own concession stand. He later moved on to work for Kentucky Fried Chicken where he worked alongside the Colonel himself! Subsequent to his KFC career, Larry was employed at Rogers Car Wash, but spent the bulk of his career working for the Canfield Company as a Utility Man where he was responsible for running the production lines and supervising multiple facilities. While at Canfield Company, Larry was drafted and served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Once he returned home, he went back to work at Canfield where he labored until they closed their doors. After Canfield, Larry began his tenure with Trinity United Church of Christ on August 25, 1996. He subsequently retired; however, after a few years of retirement living, he returned to work at Trinity UCC in August, 2005, as a member of our 5-star Maintenance team. While working as a 5-Star Team member here at Trinity, Larry has shown true servant leadership in his work ethic by volunteering to fill in for other team members on his scheduled off days and holidays. He shared that he would personally recommend others to apply for positions at Trinity and believes that the people here cannot be replaced. Larry is the father of three daughters and one son; 11 grandchildren, and 13 greatgrandchildren. He says that he plans to do all of the things I planned to do the first time I retired, including his favorite hobbies: bowling, participation in billiard tournaments, and working a good jigsaw puzzle. We give praise God for Mr. McAllisters years of service to this Branch of Zion and wish him well as he begins retirement!

WHY WE SHOULD RECYCLE PLASTIC
In the United States alone there are 4 million plastic bottles used every hour. Of those 4 million plastic bottles, roughly 25 percent of them get recycled. In 2011, over 3 tons were washed up on the shores on the United States. That still doesnt account for the plastic that is still floating out there. It takes 450 years for plastic to begin decomposing, then another 50-80 years to completely decompose. This means that every piece of produced plastic has yet to decompose 40% of the total house plastic waste of the average American family is due to the use of plastic bottles 90% of the price you pay for the bottled water goes to the plastic bottle, while the cost of the water is 10% One recycled plastic bottle would save enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for 3 hours Check out this video on the Importance of Recycling https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBOzcP2FnDM WHAT CAN YOU DO? Use a water filter to purify tap water instead of buying bottled water Use a reusable water bottle REDUCE~REUSE~RECYCLE If you or your ministry would like to volunteer, or for more information, contact the Green Committee, green@trinitychicago.org or call 773-966-1500 Mailbox 2385

2014 Trinity UCC Theme Loving God, Living Green, Liberating All
July Job 38:4-7 (NIV)
Where were you when I laid the earths foundations? Tell me if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together for joy!
LOVING GOD
January Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.
When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Fathers commands and remain in his love.
LIBERATING ALL
September Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
It is for freedom that Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
LIVING GREEN
May Psalm 24:1 (NIV)
The earth is the Lords and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in Love.
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Then God said, I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the groundeverything that has the breath of life in itI give every green plant for food. And it was so.
The spirit of the Lord is on me, because he anointed me to preach good news to the poor, he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.
