Look only for a specific fact or piece of information without reading everything. Scanning is very useful for finding a specific information such as name, date, age, price, etc., without reading the entire article.

Tips for scanning paragraphs: Read the question first before you read the text. Keep in mind at all times what it is you are searching for. It is good practice to use your finger or pencil to guide your eyes through the passage. Look at all italicized words.
