TO: SCHOOL HEADS AND TEACHERS 1. The Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (PHIL IRI) aims to establish the reading level profile of children in the public elementary school system, to do this, tests our administered twice a year (pre- test and post- test)to access the reading speed and comprehension of pupils in oral and silent reading in both English and Filipino. While tests have already been developed for this purpose, difficulties had been encountered in drawing accurate reading profile from data generated. 2. The difficulties encountered in accurately profiling the reading performance of school children are attributed primarily to problems in processing, reporting and transmission , of test results from the school to the division, to the region and finally to the central office. The reporting and database system for the national implementation of the PHIL IRI was designed to address these issues. 3. In line with the implementation of the reporting and database system, training will be conducted on October 26, 2009 at 7: 30 in the morning at the Ilagan East District Conference Hall. 4. Each school is requested tom send at lest two participants with priority to those who have knowledge in computer and the school head. Likewise, the participants are strictly advised to bring along with them their laptops and the results of the PHIL IRI both in English and Filipino. 5.
