The author wanted to convince his audience that people should be allowed to watch anything they want without having someone, like a religious group, tell them its wrong to do so. He makes a lot of important remarks and brings up good points to consider.Cargill believes it is the responsibility of the general public to know when and where to watch these films. He makes an interesting argument and brings up a few things I had not considered before. His article is also full of long term impacts.

Washington: Smithsonian Institution Press, 1996. Print. The authors of the book focus on how film censorship affected the American culture. This book had a lot of personal experiences with film censorship, along with several connections to Chicago. I did not use much of the information, but it did help me to understand the topic better. It was published and centered in Chicago, so it helped me connect the topic to the city. The information in the document helped build impacts as well as historical context. Johnson, Vaughn. The authors main focus is how film censorship affected the way movies are distributed and why. She is clearly biased but presents a lot of useful facts and dates. I used this construct the

significance today. Rene, V. "Censors, Ratings, and Rules, Oh My! A History of Hollywood Censorship." Nofilmschool.com, 2013. The article is a brief history on film censorship, including huge changes and organizations that were created. For the most part the article is unbiased towards the subject. There were several court cases where the Supreme Court ruled censorship constitutional then went back on it and said it wasnt. It has a lot of short and long term effects of film censorship. Sargent, James D. Smoking in Movies: Impact on Adolescent Smoking. Lebanon: Adolescent Medicine Clinic, 2005. PDF. Unknown.
