Unit 10. Extra: animals

a. Discuss the following questions:

1. Do you have any pets? If not, would you like to have one? 2. What are the most popular pets in your country? 3. Do you consider yourself an animal lover?

b. You are going to read the About us section of the website Best Friends, one of the largest no-kill animal facilities in the US. Best Friends is overseen by a team of skilled animal rehab experts who try to resocialize animals with a history of abuse or violence: Best Friends Animal Society Is... Best Friends is working with you -- and with humane groups all across the country -- to bring about a time when there are No More Homeless Pets. The sanctuary, at the heart of southern Utah's Golden Circle of national parks, is home, on any given day, to about 1,500 dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds and other animals. In our home state, Best Friends manages a model No More Homeless Pets campaign with shelters and humane groups statewide to ensure that every healthy dog or cat that's ever born can be guaranteed a loving home. The mission of Best Friends is driven by the simple philosophy that kindness to animals helps build a better world for all of us. Actually, I prefer to live in a house without animals, although I love them. 8 years ago I had a cat (he died in , whose name was "Coco"), and I'll never forget "him". 2. The most popular pets in Spain are dogs, and secondly cats. A lot of people have birds too, for instance parakeets. 3. Yes, I do. In fact, I thought of become a veterinary when I started university, but I eventually decided to study computer science. c. Yes it is, mainly in summer when people go vacation for a few days and their pets is became a nuisance for them. 3.e)Have you ever donated money to any animal societies?
