Mal.1
[1] The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi. [2] I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, herein hast thou loved us! as not "sau #acob$s brother! saith the LORD% yet I loved #acob, [3] &nd I hated "sau, and laid his 'ountains and his herita(e waste for the dra(ons of the wilderness. [4] hereas "do' saith, e are i')overished, but we will return and build the desolate )laces* thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down* and they shall call the', The border of wic+edness, and, The )eo)le a(ainst who' the LORD hath indi(nation for ever. [5] &nd your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be 'a(nified fro' the border of Israel. [6] & son honoureth his father, and a servant his 'aster% if then I be a father, where is 'ine honour! and if I be a 'aster, where is 'y fear! saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O )riests, that des)ise 'y na'e. &nd ye say, herein have we des)ised thy na'e! [7] Ye offer )olluted bread u)on 'ine altar* and ye say, herein have we )olluted thee! In that ye say, The table of the LORD is conte')tible. [8] &nd if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil! and if ye offer the la'e and sic+, is it not evil! offer it now unto thy (overnor* will he be )leased with thee, or acce)t thy )erson! saith the LORD of hosts. [9] &nd now, I )ray you, beseech ,od that he will be (racious unto us% this hath been by your 'eans% will he re(ard your )ersons! saith the LORD of hosts. [10] ho is there even a'on( you that would shut the doors for nou(ht! neither do ye +indle fire on 'ine altar for nou(ht. I have no )leasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I acce)t an offerin( at your hand. [11] -or fro' the risin( of the sun even unto the (oin( down of the sa'e 'y na'e shall be (reat a'on( the ,entiles* and in every )lace incense shall be offered unto 'y na'e, and a )ure offerin(% for 'y na'e shall be (reat a'on( the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts. [12] .ut ye have )rofaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is )olluted* and the fruit thereof, even his 'eat, is conte')tible. [13] Ye said also, .ehold, what a weariness is it/ and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts* and ye brou(ht that which was torn, and the la'e, and the sic+* thus ye brou(ht an offerin(% should I acce)t this of your hand! saith the LORD. [14] .ut cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his floc+ a 'ale, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corru)t thin(% for I a' a (reat 0in(, saith the LORD of hosts, and 'y na'e is dreadful a'on( the heathen.
Mal.2
[1] &nd now, O ye )riests, this co''and'ent is for you. [2] If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to (ive (lory unto 'y na'e, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse u)on you, and I will curse your blessin(s% yea, I have cursed the' already, because ye do not lay it to heart. [3] .ehold, I will corru)t your seed, and s)read dun( u)on your faces, even the dun( of your sole'n feasts* and one shall ta+e you away with it. [4] &nd ye shall +now that I have sent this co''and'ent unto you, that 'y covenant 'i(ht be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. [5] My covenant was with hi' of life and )eace* and I (ave the' to hi' for the fear wherewith he feared 'e, and was afraid before 'y na'e. [6] The law of truth was in his 'outh, and ini1uity was not found in his li)s% he wal+ed with 'e in )eace and e1uity, and did turn 'any away fro' ini1uity. [7] -or the )riest$s li)s should +ee) +nowled(e, and they should see+ the law at his 'outh% for he is the 'essen(er of the LORD of hosts. [8] .ut ye are de)arted out of the way* ye have caused 'any to stu'ble at the law* ye have corru)ted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts. [9] Therefore have I also 'ade you conte')tible and base before all the )eo)le, accordin( as ye have not +e)t 'y ways, but have been )artial in the law. [10] 2ave we not all one father! hath not one ,od created us! why do we deal treacherously every 'an a(ainst his brother, by )rofanin( the covenant of our fathers! [11] #udah hath dealt treacherously, and an abo'ination is co''itted in Israel and in #erusale'* for #udah hath )rofaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath 'arried the dau(hter of a stran(e (od. [12] The LORD will cut off the 'an that doeth this, the 'aster and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of #acob, and hi' that offereth an offerin( unto the LORD of hosts. [13] &nd this have ye done a(ain, coverin( the altar of the LORD with tears, with wee)in(, and with cryin( out, inso'uch that he re(ardeth not the offerin( any 'ore, or receiveth it with (ood will at your hand. [14] Yet ye say, herefore! .ecause the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, a(ainst who' thou hast dealt treacherously% yet is she thy co')anion, and the wife of thy covenant. [15] &nd did not he 'a+e one! Yet had he the residue of the s)irit. &nd wherefore one! That he 'i(ht see+ a (odly seed. Therefore ta+e heed to your s)irit, and let none deal treacherously a(ainst the wife of his youth. [16] -or the LORD, the ,od of Israel, saith that he hateth )uttin( away% for one covereth violence with his (ar'ent, saith the LORD of hosts% therefore ta+e heed to your s)irit, that ye deal not treacherously. [17] Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, herein have we wearied hi'! hen ye say, "very one that doeth evil is (ood in the si(ht of the LORD, and he deli(hteth in the'* or, here is the ,od of 3ud('ent!
Mal.3
[1] .ehold, I will send 'y 'essen(er, and he shall )re)are the way before 'e% and the Lord, who' ye see+, shall suddenly co'e to this te')le, even the 'essen(er of the covenant, who' ye deli(ht in% behold, he shall co'e, saith the LORD of hosts. [2] .ut who 'ay abide the day of his co'in(! and who shall stand when he a))eareth! for he is li+e a refiner$s fire, and li+e fullers$ soa)% [3] &nd he shall sit as a refiner and )urifer of silver% and he shall )urify the sons of Levi, and )ur(e the' as (old and silver, that they 'ay offer unto the LORD an offerin( in ri(hteousness. [4] Then shall the offerin( of #udah and #erusale' be )leasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in for'er years. [5] &nd I will co'e near to you to 3ud('ent* and I will be a swift witness a(ainst the sorcerers, and a(ainst the adulterers, and a(ainst false swearers, and a(ainst those that o))ress the hirelin( in his wa(es, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stran(er fro' his ri(ht, and fear not 'e, saith the LORD of hosts. [6] -or I a' the LORD, I chan(e not* therefore ye sons of #acob are not consu'ed. [7] "ven fro' the days of your fathers ye are (one away fro' 'ine ordinances, and have not +e)t the'. Return unto 'e, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. .ut ye said, herein shall we return! [8] ill a 'an rob ,od! Yet ye have robbed 'e. .ut ye say, herein have we robbed thee! In tithes and offerin(s. [9] Ye are cursed with a curse% for ye have robbed 'e, even this whole nation. [10] .rin( ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there 'ay be 'eat in 'ine house, and )rove 'e now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not o)en you the windows of heaven, and )our you out a blessin(, that there shall not be roo' enou(h to receive it. [11] &nd I will rebu+e the devourer for your sa+es, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your (round* neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the ti'e in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. [12] &nd all nations shall call you blessed% for ye shall be a deli(htso'e land, saith the LORD of hosts. [13] Your words have been stout a(ainst 'e, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, hat have we s)o+en so 'uch a(ainst thee! [14] Ye have said, It is vain to serve ,od% and what )rofit is it that we have +e)t his ordinance, and that we have wal+ed 'ournfully before the LORD of hosts! [15] &nd now we call the )roud ha))y* yea, they that wor+ wic+edness are set u)* yea, they that te')t ,od are even delivered. [16] Then they that feared the LORD s)a+e often one to another% and the LORD hear+ened, and heard it, and a boo+ of re'e'brance was written before hi' for the' that feared the LORD, and that thou(ht u)on his na'e. [17] &nd they shall be 'ine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I 'a+e u) 'y 3ewels* and I will s)are the', as a 'an s)areth his own son that serveth hi'. [18] Then shall ye return, and discern between the ri(hteous and the wic+ed, between hi' that serveth ,od and hi' that serveth hi' not.
Mal.4
[1] -or, behold, the day co'eth, that shall burn as an oven* and all the )roud, yea, and all that do wic+edly, shall be stubble% and the day that co'eth shall burn the' u), saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave the' neither root nor branch. [2] .ut unto you that fear 'y na'e shall the 4un of ri(hteousness arise with healin( in his win(s* and ye shall (o forth, and (row u) as calves of the stall. [3] &nd ye shall tread down the wic+ed* for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts. [4] Re'e'ber ye the law of Moses 'y servant, which I co''anded unto hi' in 2oreb for all Israel, with the statutes and 3ud('ents. [5] .ehold, I will send you "li3ah the )ro)het before the co'in( of the (reat and dreadful day of the LORD% [6] &nd he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I co'e and s'ite the earth with a curse.
