Admin and IB meeting Norms reviewed Schmidt was elected note taker. Danaya--Science.

Good discussion about rigor and labs. Char-- ELA is working on norming student work according to possible rubrics. They will also be having an all day 6-10 data team. Kirk-- Reading and DCD. Reading doing PLC mostly, DCD talked more about licensure and needs for next year. All teachers came (reading). The were doing more PLC work than vertical artic. Wolff- absent Tucker--DP: exams and extended essay, how to advise students through the process as well as address interested students for next years incoming DP potential students. Charlotte will be talking to social studies classes about this. There are as of now about 50 students interested. Auran-- phy Ed. Looked at videos of volleyball and made critiques of serves and had a discussion about what makes the performances at different levels. Jones: explained why rubrics are modified and when the updated guides are made public. Kabaka--was not able to attend music and art Linda Jones--Language B. Scores discussions and discussed how to increase rigor. Math went well, exploring how to incorporate more writing also to help ELL students. Bonk--Humanities--10th grade Human Geo. Menke used rubric on part of a test and shared what was done. The group worked on using rubric for rest of test, 6th grade to share next time. A group that has consistently gotten along. Tech has helped because more people are coaching now. Arts-- absenteeism is becoming a problem. Julie Elliott at HPMS is taking a more of a lead, but is getting frustrated because of the absenteeism and lack of attendance. Problem with teachers not embodying the IB philosophy and refusal to "do" MYP/IB admin will address with these teachers to review the expectations of them. Will this create compliance or buy in? Hmmmmmm. Counselors--transition, talked about flipping science classes order and what that would mean for incoming 9th graders. It would be helpful for students. Discussion about accelerated courses-- quality, quantity, in class work vs. out of class work , there has been discussion to limit 9th graders to 2 accelerated courses. This is still in the discussion stages. This will be to help students and parents know what would be an appropriate class schedule for their student. Accelerated classes at the HS level are more intensive than in the MS level, but there is anecdotal evidence that the students are doing better now than they were in the fall. There will be no hard and fast rule, but there are items to consider. Level 2 language B classes seems to be too easy for the challenge classes. This has made a concern regarding what language levels can feasibly be offered. It's hard to find enough electives for upperclassmen. But not all kids come with a strong language background so there will be a need for level 1 classes. Vertical articulation will help the teachers address this organically. Tucker: 2 questions: 1.) we have to purposely plan for everyone to be engaged and for everyone to see the purpose and value in IB.

2.) can we get staff survey input? (In May Marissa and Linda will be doing this.) Action in the MYP (3) training: Wolff and Auran in Boca Raton. The next chapter is the new book. Implementation needs-1.) identify leaders to move this forward 2.) assess where we are in terms of action in curriculum. 3.) how much to talks about documenting MYP etc, takeaway is in the units. Evidence is in the curriculum. Process! Pat and Boca Raton = white on rice Concrete examples of what it looks like Reflection Awareness, advocacy, and action is the big deal in action. Visual reminders of our culture is recommended. Marketing piece--tell your story. June 10th and 11th list of possible participants should be generated. Action meeting will take place between admins and coordinators to determine who will go. Make sure that teachers are aware of the commitment. It will lead to a committee or team such as the PBIS team, or task force, etc that leads training and provides knowledge for staff. $360 per person as well as paying for time. This will be important in determining budget. Danaya gave 5 minute warning. Thanks Danaya! WT: we have a lot of unanswered questions. School budgets are due April 26th. Meeting after that may be a good idea. Kara and Kirk will be the point people. Marissa and Linda are frustrated since the meetings are being cancelled when they were previously ok'd. Meetings need to be scheduled to set up opening week PD and year long pd. Linda suggested a program to help get people scheduled. Danaya will investigate. August will be to late. Tucker called Lobo a turd. Linda suggested May 10th the PD day for a half day meeting. Char shot that down. Work life balance people. Charlotte is swamped with IB testing and unable to make it, Kara was at a funeral.

Linda-- we need to set a time. May 22nd?
