Date of Board Meeting: TITLE: Irvington High School FBLA State Leadership Conference April 10th April 13th, 2014

Background: This conference provides a venue for Future Business Leaders of Americas Competitive events program as well as additional career leadership development programs. California FBLA hosts the State Leadership Conference for students to compete for spots to represent California in the National Leadership conference, the pinnacle event of the year for thousands of competitors to compete for the national titles engaging in leadership, academics and more. Current Status: Fifteen to twenty (15-20) students will be transported by their own parents to Diridon Station in San Jose, CA by 8:30 AM and take the bolt bus from San Jose, CA to Los Angeles, CA (Union Station). The bus will depart at 8:50 AM and arrive at 3:50 PM. They will walk for three minutes to the Los Angeles Union Station MetroLink Station. They will take the Riverside line from Los Angeles Union Station MetroLink Station to Pomona Trans Center. They will then take the Pomona Trans Center (61) towards EB- Fontana- Ontario-Pomona at 5:51 PM. They will Arrive at the Double Tree Hotel, 222 North Vineyard Ave. Ontario, CA 91764, where they will be staying. The group will be competing at the Ontario Convention Center from April 10th April 13th.The students will miss two (2) days of school and are required to make up any missed assignments. There will be no swimming during the trip. There will be two (2) staff members to chaperone them: Delmar Gomez and Alberto Ballado. The students will leave on (61) Bus towards WB-Fontana-Ontario-Pomona at 10:08 AM. They will then take the 707 Bus towards Silver Streak- Los Angeles and then walk to Los Angeles Union Station. They will take the Bolt Bus at 12:00 PM from Los Angeles back to San Jose and arrive at the Diridon Station at 6:35 PM, where their parents will pick them up and take them home. Budget Impact: FBLA student fundraisers and parent donations will finance this trip. No student will be denied access to the trip due to inability to pay. There will be no costs to the district. All funds for this trip were raised through fundraisers and donations. No students will be denied access to the trip due to funding.
