Schizophrenics

Do I think that people with schizophrenia are deviant? No I do not. Therefore that makes me on the subjective side. Schizophrenia is defined in the dictionary as a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation. You do not choose to have schizophrenia it just develops, I believe people who think that schizophrenics are deviant are just ignorant.

My friend Will, his mother has schizophrenia and I had no idea until he told me, thats because she is taking her anti-psychotics. She developed it later in life and she is very consistent with taking her medication. I have never felt scared or uncomfortable around her. I think when someone hears that a person has a mental disorder as rare and different as schizophrenia they get scared and they judge people, I think of it as being very interesting. Of course when she is on her meds she talks very slow and she says its like feeling like a zombie but that is better than what she feels when she is not on her medication.

My Nonna worked at St. Peters hospital and she told me many stories about her days working there and I was never scared or intimidated I wanted to know more. I am very open to

knowing more about people who are different. People who have mental disorders did not choose that life style so who are you to judge, you have not been through what they have. You have no idea what it is like to have a battle with your own mind. People place a stigma on those with mental disorders out of fear and misunderstanding, and therefore exposing them to discrimination and prejudice. Some people believe it is harder to overcome the stigma then it is to overcome the illness itself.

My motto is treat others the way you would want to be treated and most people in this world do not follow that rule, if they did we would not have so much hate in todays society. We need to be more educated on other people and their differences that dont make that strange or scary, but what makes then unique. I believe we should be accepting of all people with any kind of disorder.

Dear Manny, I would like to request the following days off, Saturday October 20th for the reason of that it is my 20th birthday. I would also like to request off Saturday October the 27th for the reason of that I am having my birthday party with my family.

Also I would like to let you know that reading week at school is October 22nd to the 26th so therefore I can close pantry any of those day of that week because I have no school.
