Lev 6:8 (6:1) Adonai said to Moshe, "Give this order to Aharon and his sons: 'This is the

law for the burnt offering [Hebrew: `olah] : it is what goes up [Hebrew: `olah] on its firewood upon the altar all night long, until morning; in this way the fire of the altar will be kept burning. (CJB) Lev 6:8-9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it. tsavah tsaw-vaw and it means (intensively) to constitute,

enjoin: - appoint, (for-) bid. (give a) charge, (give a, give in, send with) command (-er, ment), send a messenger, put, (set) in order. The paleo Hebrew is H) ( TsWH) ac: ? co: Command ab: ? Its more than just to commanding someone to do something. Its not just ordering someone, hey, take out the trash, or sweep this floor, or cut the grass, it also represents an way to establish identity by obedience. We live in a culture today that for the working class, many define themselves by what they do. Go to any social gathering, and I guarantee you within 2 minutes the men will be discussing what they do for a living. It is hardwired into man to express to his fellow brother, Look, this is what I do. Now some of us are out of balance with it because many of us are either choosing not to be completely in the moment waiting to do something different and because of that we lose some of the

satisfaction that comes from having been fully committed to the task at hand; and on the other hand there are those who are so wrapped up in their work that they have allowed it to become a badge they wear 24 hours a day. The problem with that is, not in a mediocre performance on the jobsite, oftentimes it makes for a lonely life, because people desire others to be real, to not be defined by what they do for money, because in our society today its safe to say that many of us even in this room whether working, too young to work just yet, or retired, if we were honest with ourselves performed at a job that we were not entirely passionate about.

And yet YHVH says whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all for the glory of God (1Cor.10:31) Paul also says for 5 Slaves, obey your human masters with the same fear, trembling and single-heartedness with which you obey the Messiah. 6 Don't obey just to win their favor, serving only when they are watching you; but serve as slaves of the Messiah, doing what God wants with all your heart. 7 Work willingly as slaves, as people do who are serving not merely human beings but the Lord. 8 Remember that whoever does good work, whether he be a slave or a free man, will be rewarded by the Lord. (Eph 6:5-8 CJB)

As long as it is day, we must keep doing the work of the One who sent me; the night is coming, when no one can work. (Joh 9:4 CJB)

"Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him." 28 Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?" 29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent." "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 35 "Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; 36 "and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. 37 "Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. (Luk 12:34-37 NKJ) H1878

dashen daw-shane'A primitive root; to be fat; transitively to fatten

(or regard as fat); specifically to anoint; figuratively to satisfy; denominatively (from H1880) to remove (fat) ashes (of sacrifices): - accept, anoint, take away the (receive) ashes (from), make (wax) fat. Merriam Websters Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition defines Anoint as 1. to smear or rub with oil or an oily substance, 2. 2a: to apply oil to as a sacred rite especially for the consecration b: to choose by or as if by divine election; also to designate as if by a ritual anointment. H1878 Strongs #1878: AHLB#: 2115 (V) 2115) ( DShN) ac: ? co: Fat: The fat of an animal as well as the fat ashes, the ashes and fat of a burnt sacrifice mixed together. V) ( D-ShN) - Fat: To make something fat. Also the removal of the fat ashes from the alter. [freq. 11] (vf: Paal, Pual, Piel) |kjv: fat, ash, anoint, accept| {str: 1878}

From Smiths Bible Dictionary: Fat. The Hebrews distinguished between the suet or pure fat of an animal and the fat which was intermixed with the lean. Neh_8:10. Certain restrictions were imposed upon them in reference to the former; some parts of the suet, namely, about the stomach, the entrails, the kidneys, and the tail of a sheep, which grows to

an excessive size in many eastern countries, and produces a large quantity of rich fat, were forbidden to be eaten in the case of animals, but were to be offered to Jehovah in sacrifice. Lev_3:3; Lev_3:9; Lev_3:17; Lev_7:3; Lev_7:23. The ground of the prohibition was that the fat was the richest part of the animal, and, therefore, belonged to him (that is, Jehovah). Lev_3:16. The burning of the fat of sacrifices was particularly specified in each kind of offering.
Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament: (651a) (leb) fat.

The KJV translates leb as "fat" or "fatness," except for "marrow" in Psa 63:5 [H 6], "grease" in Psa 119:70, metaphorically, "the best" in Num 18:12, 29-30, 32, and "the finest" in Psa 81:16 [H 17]; Psa 147:14. The fat of sacrificial animals, specifically the fat surrounding the kidneys and intestines, was burned by the priests (Lev 3:3-4, 10, 14-16). In some cases the fat tail of the broadtail sheep, which can weigh up to ten pounds, was offered (Lev 3:9; Exo 29:22). The fat was burned in the following offerings: 1. the "burnt offering" (KJV) or holocaust (Lev 1:8, 12 where peder "suet" is used); 2. the "peace offering" (KJV) or "communion sacrifice" (JB, Lev 3:9ff; Lev 7:15ff); 3 Lev 3. the "sin offering" (Lev 4:8-10); and Lev 4. the "trespass offering" (KJV, Lev 7:3-4). Like the blood, the fat was not to be eaten (Lev 3:17; Lev 7:23, 25). Whether this prohibition applied to all animal fat or just the portions specified is a matter of dispute; cf. NAB footnote on Lev 7:23. The fat of an animal that had died of natural causes or had been torn by other animals could be used for grease (Lev 7:24). Various theories have been offered to explain why the fat was sacrificed with the blood. There is, of course, the functional reason that fat burns well with little odor and would thus be a good practical representative portion of the peace offerings which were offered in large numbers at festival gatherings and which were eaten by priests and people. Some see in fat the seat of life, the symbol of strength, or the food of gods (cf. Ezek 44:7). In contrast to the pagan gods, who were dependent upon sacrifices for their sustenance (cf. The Gilgamesh Epic 11. 159-61), Jehovah declares, "Will I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?" (Psa 50:13). Abel's sacrifice of the firstlings of the flock and of their fat (Gen 4:4) indicated his desire to offer the best to God. The offering of the fat, which was the tastiest part, symbolized the worshiper's desire to offer the best to God. Such offerings were therefore welcomed by God (Isa 43:24). But the mechanical offering by of fat was no substitute for obedience (1Sam 15:22).

A number of passages describe the selfish, rebellious man who reveals his gluttony in his obese features. In Job 15:27 the godless man has hidden his face in fat. (In Psa 17:10 the wicked have shut up their leb, perhaps not to be read as "fat" here but as "midriff," as in the cognate Arabic word, as this was considered the seat of the emotions.) The eyes of the wicked "swell out with fatness" (RSV) or "gleam through folds of fat" (NEB) (Psa 73:7). The heart of the godless is "gross like fat" (Psa 119:70, RSV). When Jeshurun, i.e. Israel, waxed fat and sleek he forsook God (Deut 32:15; cf. Jer 5:28). (For Job 21:24 see lb.)

leb is used idiomatically for the best of the land (Gen 45:18), as is the English
expression "the cream of the crop."

I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. (Eze 34:14 KJV) 8082 shamen {shaw-mane'} Meaning: 1) fat, rich, robust 1a) fat, rich (of food) 1b) stout, robust (of men) So the facts to weigh here are that we understand the ashes were what remained of the fat of the olah sacrifice. The fat in context with the offerings were recognized as the very best man had to offer YHVH, which is why man was not commanded to eat it, rather to give it unto The Father. But not only that, the ashes, rooted in the 3 letter root word dashan, a dalet shin nun share the same 2 letter root of another popular word used for fat as demonstrated in Ezekiel 34:14 which is shamen, taken from the same word as oil or shemen. It too possesses the same 2-letter root word of the shin nun. As pointed out earlier the root word for the ashes that were lifted up off the altar and taken to a clean place is dashen, and means specifically to anoint; figuratively to satisfy; denominatively (from H1880) to remove (fat) ashes (of sacrifices): - accept, anoint, take away the (receive) ashes (from), make (wax) fat.

So Yeshua, Our Anointed One, Satisfied the Bride Price by becoming our Atoning Sacrifice! By His Stripes He took away all our sin once and for all. And by reconciling us back to the Father we have been given the choicest title of Bride, or Sons & of Daughters, and made fat off of the sacrifice of Our Sacrificial Lamb, Yeshua Our Anointed One!

3 words I want to look at real fast: Ashes-Dwelling Place-Fat/Oil Ashes- Dahshane -

Dwelling Place- Mishkan FatOil- Shemen -

In all 3 Words there is a common 2 letter root, The Shin and and the Nun Shin means PRESS INTO & Nun means LIFE With the Ashes we have a Dalet as the beginning of the word, but Dalet means TO ENTER. So it is with the anointed, choicest offerings we ENTER(dalet) into LIFE(nun) through His BLOOD(mem). So it is with His Dwelling Place, we receive His BLESSINGS(kaf), as we PRESS IN(shin) to HIS LIFE(nun). & as the Oil represents our Mashiyach, we too PRESS IN(shin) to LIFE(nun) through His BLOOD(mem). Interestingly as a sidenote, Shemen-Shin, Mem, Nun has the two letter root word Shem which means NAME; Nun means Life, therefore we can also testify that through the name of our Anointed one, or Mashiyach, we have life! Being that the ashes are symbolic of Messiah, who was crucified outside the camp, Lets take a look at a very fulfilling Scripture in the book of Hebrews.

11

For the cohen hagadol brings the blood of animals into the Holiest Place as a sin offering, but their bodies are burned outside the camp. 12 So too Yeshua suffered death outside the gate, in order to make the people holy through his own blood.

Therefore, let us go out to him who is outside the camp and share his disgrace. (Heb 13:11-13 CJB) The Ashes represent and are a type and shadow of the sacrifice our Redeemer Messiah Yeshua would endure for us, when He would come to restore the covenant YHVH had already established in Beresheit with Avraham. The people had become stiff-necked, obstinate, and all too unwilling to receive Yeshua ben Yosef as their King at this time, because Israel was a mere shell of itself as they had been conquered by the Roman Empire at this time. Israel wanted a conquering King to reclaim the thronenot a humble, suffering servant. So what we witness here is Yeshua doing the work that only THE KING OF KINGS can do, and that is cover HIS PEOPLES SHAME WITH HIS OWN PERFECT LIFE BLOOD. And in so doing, his sacrifice was much in every way like that of the Chattath, or sin offering offered by the Cohen Gadol for the people of Israel in Leviticus chapter 4. Stern in his commentary on the New Testament explains Yeshua suffered death in order to make the people holy through His own blood. Second, just as the bodies of the animals used for a sin offering are burned outside the camp, so Yeshuas death took place outside the gate of the city of Jerusalem, which replaced the camp in the wilderness. Being outside the camp in disgrace implies not only impurity but separation from the Jewish people. Yeshua is indeed separated; however, his separation is in fact not from the Jewish people due to impurity, but unto God, due to His Holiness (Jewish New Testament Commentary, p.722).

ADONAI said to Moshe,

"Tell the people of Isra'el: 'If anyone sins inadvertently against any of the mitzvot of ADONAI concerning things which should not be done, if he does any one of them, 3 then, if it is the anointed cohen who sinned and thus brought guilt on the people, he is to offer ADONAI a young bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he committed.
2

He must bring the bull to the entrance of the tent of meeting before ADONAI, lay his hand on the bull's head and slaughter the bull in the presence of ADONAI. 5 The anointed cohen is to take some of the bull's blood and bring it to the tent of meeting. 6 The cohen is to dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times in the presence of ADONAI in front of the curtain of the sanctuary. 7 The cohen is to put some of the blood on the horns of the altar for fragrant incense before ADONAI there in the tent of meeting. All the remaining blood of the bull he is to pour out at the base of the altar for burnt offerings, which is at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 8 He is to remove from the bull for the sin offering all of its fatthe fat covering the inner organs, all the fat above the inner organs, 9 the two kidneys, the fat on them near the flanks, and the covering of the liver, which he will remove with the kidneys 10 as it is removed from an ox sacrificed as a peace offering; and the cohen is to make these parts go up in smoke on the altar for burnt offerings. 11 But the bull's hide and all its flesh, with its head, the lower parts of its legs, its inner organs and dung12 in other words, the entire bull- he is to bring outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are emptied out. There he is to burn it on wood with fire; there, where the ashes are emptied out, it is to be burned up. (Lev 4:1-12 CJB) The priest took off his High-Priestly vestments and word a plain Linen garment. From previous lessons however weve learned that Linen refers to works of Righteousness. It also was worn to guard against perspiration as Linen as a fabric possesses a rather amazing quality of wicking away excessive moisture and heat away from the body. Yeshua, who covers us is our Righteousness according to 1Cor. Chapter 1 we read,

For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; 27 but God has chosen

26

the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, 28 and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, 29 that no man should boast before God. 30 But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, 31 that, just as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord." (1Co 1:26-31 NAS)

Speaking of boasting, our haftarah portion dovetails nicely with this parasha as we read in the book of Yermeyahu, or the prophet Jeremiah, chapter 9, verses 22-23 which read, Here is what ADONAI says: "The wise man should not boast of his wisdom, the powerful should not boast of his power, the wealthy should not boast of his wealth; 23 instead, let the boaster boast about this: that he understands and knows me- that I am ADONAI, practicing grace, justice and righteousness in the land; for in these things I take pleasure," says ADONAI. (Jer 9:22-23 CJB) After all, what is Boasting? Praising oneself, bragging about oneself, elevating self, putting the focus on oneself, bringing attention to oneself etc. The paleo-Hebrew is a heh-lamed-lamed, and it means to cause a shining of one by praising or giving thanks to another or to ones self. Pictographically we could say it reveals one saying Behold, Look at my authority! And isnt that what boasting does? It pushes God out or the center and places ourselves on the throne instead. And this is actually the root of this entire portion! The title of this weeks parasha is Command! in the imperative sense. You shall command! Look at the Paleo here with me a second! 1397) ( TsW) ac: Command co:

Command ab: ? H) ( TsWH) ac: ? co: Command ab: ? V) ( Ts-WH) Command: [freq. 494] (vf: Pual, Piel) |kjv: command, charge, commandment, appoint, bade, order, commander| {str: 6680} Simply put it means To Command but if we look at the word more closely it reveals a much more intimate picture. Let me share with you a picture. Everybodys seen at least one war movie before. Perhaps A Few Good Men, or Hamburger Hill, Black Hawk Down, maybe Courage Under Fire. Theres a lot of them out there. Guys like to watch em cause theres bullets, and blood, and courage and honor and sacrifice, the kind of heroics every man wants to be remembered for after hes left this earth. But I submit to you there is another plot working its way through every good war story. A leader ya see, is in that given position of leadership not just because he knows how to win, but because he has the ability to process the given intel, the enemys location, manpower and weaponry, and mount an attack that will win the day with the least casualties. Does war have casualties? You ask any Vet theyll tell you yes there are. If you ask Moshe he could tell you so long as Israel chose not to grumble and do as they were told we never lost a single man. But the point I am trying to make is every leader is thinking just as much about their own men as they are their mission. No commander wants to infiltrate hostile territory, willingly sacrificing his own men. Rather what you find are many a leader still plagued by the losses suffered under their command. They tell you they still see their faces in their dreams and still struggle to reconcile the burden they try to carry because a soldier or soldiers were lost on their watch. Much like a well-seasoned commander, YHVHCommander of the Angelic Hosts has just commanded Moshe to command his brother Aharon and his sons. Why? First of all Aharon is the Cohen Gadolhe is also a forerunner/type and shadow of Yeshuadoes not Aharons name mean Light-Bringer? And is he not The High Priest? Indeed, he has a very important path to walk, and so God has given Moshe clear commands wherein to command Aharon so that he may serve the people and YHVH correctly. So lets look again at the root word for

Command shall we? The word here is Tsa-vah. Comprised of a Tsadey- a Waw or Vav, and a Heh. The Tsadey is a picture of a man laying on his side. The Vav is a picture of a tent peg or stake used primarily to secure the ropes in place that keep the tent firmly in place; and the Heh means Behold, sigh, reveal, and man. Taken altogether what we see The Father doing is that

We are so obstinate and determined to
